cool, thanks! That's what I needed to hear. Like the comment below, I too am worried about finding a job that could support a family.

My biggest fear is I have no clue what to do for work if I lived in Japan. I’m American and can’t even figure out what to do in my own country as an unemployed person seeking work. Many people say English teacher but for the long term that isn’t realistic. Do I need a specialization? What can people do in Japan who want to raise a family in Japan but aren’t specialists with a degree?

Thanks for watching. From my experience, I would say outside of English teaching there are positions as head hunters , hotel industry for sales and marketing, local government inbound tourism departments and secondhand car sales to overseas to name a few.

Because you’re American, there’s virtually no chance of living in Japan unless you have a bachelor’s degree, 10 years of work experience, serve in the US military, or marry a Japanese citizen. I’ve done extensive research on this, but feel free to verify it yourself. I went back to school to pursue a bachelor’s degree in computer science solely to meet the requirements for living in Japan, and I have one year left to complete! I strongly recommend starting your degree now rather than waiting.
If you don’t care about money and want to move quickly, consider studying something easier, like art or music, at an online university-especially self-paced ones. Once you have your bachelor’s, you can move to Japan and teach English for around $20,000 USD annually. Once you’re there, you can try breaking into a different industry( This is riskiest and fastest path you have as an American). Good luck

Why you want to live in Japan and then talk with strangers oh RUclips? Because you are bored and can’t deal with Japanese bubble.
