In addition, too much conversation on the street was totally un-necessary; when our Johnny went inside the station, the stage was set for the final show down! It was expected! Johnny should have entered the station from the front, waited at the realtively busy area--the TTC booth till it felt safe to move. And, if the matter escalated, he was in open public area where he could call the cops. This reminds me of the book "The Gift Of Fear" by Gavin de Becker (must read for all us Non-Violent & Non-Harmful people!)

As soon as he started hanging around Johnny seemed to sense that the guy was off, and started to move out of the park. Never underestimate a person behaving in a threatening manner. Don't engage and keep yourself in a public place where you can stay safe.

Agreed. Any assault is serious. The man was following Johnny, and was quite hostile. He could be a danger to anyone. I hope police find him. It shouldn't be difficult given he is seen in full on camera.

I’m not even a regular on here. I watch Johnny every now and then just to see what’s going on in toronto. I just happened to catch his live stream. I’m in vegas so I usually don’t catch them. But this one I did and it had me fuming. I’m glad you’re good man. I knew when I was watching that live stream that dude was going to come back for you. The situation could have been a lot worse. I hope going forward you take extra precautions and raise your awareness level when you’re doing these videos. Especially at night. The world is becoming a more crazy place. People are more unstable and mentally ill on the streets these days. Be careful who you talk to. Don’t ever go in the subway alone again especially after dark. I suggest you carry a spray or short handle weapon you can conceal to protect yourself. You got lucky with just a bruised face. Next time you may not be so lucky. You could end up in the hospital or thrown in front of the the subway. People are that crazy. Be more vigilant of your surroundings and check for people following you. And protect yourself going forward.

Sadly people don't need a reason to assault someone and just do it anyway. It's not okay regardless of any reason, though. I worry about the guy still being out there. I'm glad he kept filming after the guy was following him. Hopefully someone else will recognize the guy.

It seemed like a planned attack that he decided to carry out when he saw you. This isn't just some ordinary drug addict attack. Hope you are alright.

Toronto is becoming a dangerous place to walk around. Last summer my friend from LA was attacked in broad daylight outside Union Station. When I was in the PATH at a Shoppers Drug Mart it was being robbed while I shopped. Glad you are ok!

I love downtown but lately I’m getting concern about the quantity of drug addicts, homeless, junkies; it seems they are growing in numbers; unbelievable you can find them on the subway, streetcar, around the Eaton center, at union station where is the GO station; sometimes I’m scared to walk at union station 😖😖😖😖😖
@1:55min +30 seconds on Bathurst and Bloor livestream, is the guy who assaulted JS. It's about 5 min before the end of the stream. The guy has a specific gait. I think he'll be recognized by the police easily.
i had the same experience 4 months ago, a random guy on yonge-dundas station punched me and ran away. I called the police but police didn't really do anything as of yet. Apparently, this thing is low priority to them. I was new to toronto(moved from Vancouver). I had the impression that generally Canada is safe. But quickly learned that Toronto is not that safe. Better just not get in conflict with "nutheads"
Glad you're ok. But I don't have high hopes for the police. They always come up with some excuse like, it's a domestic issue, the driver didn't see him, the guy had a bad day, etc.
There was a guy attacking people with a hammer at yonge station. He was arrested. I think I saw him on the train too. He was banging the hammer against the pole really loud and no one would sit near him.

Idk about Toronto, but here in Vancouver the situation with crazy/angry people gets worse and worse every year. Probably because of the fact that apartments are always increasing in price and the gap between the rich and the poor is constantly growing - I think there's a lot of very angry people here. Given how fast the population of Toronto is growing, I wouldn't doubt it's the same thing. Sad because I really enjoyed growing up here.

Sorry to hear and see that a little bit of shit slipped into your life, man. For as safe as Canada is, it is shocking how quickly violence can come into our lives. One moment, a couple of years ago, I was on my way to Toronto for a ballgame. The next moment, I was rolling around on the ground of the Guelph bus station, wrestling with an addict who decided to rob and assault a chick who was waiting to get on the bus. Talk about zero-to-freak'n-60 in like no time. Let's just say that I was never so happy to see a bunch of bike cops and squad cars. Crazy how a surge of adrenaline can leave you drained after an incident like that, eh? Totally different type of 'tired' than you get from lifting, hiking, or biking. Glad to hear you're ok.
I am glad you are OK. I believe personal safety is more important than who is right, especially when this could have been easily avoided. Of course you have the right to record in public. But, once you saw he was upset and he was headed in the same direction as you (he was in front of you at that point, and walking away from you), you should have just hung back at the park and talked to us for a couple of minutes. Sometimes it is better to de-escalate the situation, especially when all you would have lost is some of your time. You could have been stabbed or worse.

If someone is following or acting suspiciously around you stay in the public with people around, don't go to a quiet area or a place with not many people around, and if after a period of time it is continuing to happen call the authorities and let them know what is transpiring and follow their instructions. Thank god the assailant didn't use a weapon and you are alright.

In the future, it would be wise to keep an eye out for a surprise assault, after any strange encounters. However, it's understandable that you didn't do so because you were multi-tasking doing the Live Stream. Nevertheless, had you saw him coming, you could have time to put down the expensive camera equipment and defended yourself.

Earlier today while you were at Bathurst and Bloor streaming your walk I thought 'how safe is it for Johnny recording his walks!' There's alot of crazy characters around town. Idk about Toronto, but here in Vancouver the situation with crazy/angry people gets worse and worse every year.
Probably because of the fact that apartments are always increasing in price and the gap between the rich and the poor is constantly growing - I think there's a lot of very angry people here.
Given how fast the population of Toronto is growing, I wouldn't doubt it's the same thing.
Sad because I really enjoyed growing up here.

Sorry to hear and see that a little bit of shit slipped into your life, man. For as safe as Canada is, it is shocking how quickly violence can come into our lives. One moment, a couple of years ago, I was on my way to Toronto for a ballgame. The next moment, I was rolling around on the ground of the Guelph bus station, wrestling with an addict who decided to rob and assault a chick who was waiting to get on the bus. Talk about zero-to-freak'n-60 in like no time. Let's just say that I was never so happy to see a bunch of bike cops and squad cars. Crazy how a surge of adrenaline can leave you drained after an incident like that, eh? Totally different type of 'tired' than you get from lifting, hiking, or biking. Glad to hear you're ok.

I am glad you are OK. I believe personal safety is more important than who is right, especially when this could have been easily avoided. Of course you have the right to record in public. But, once you saw he was upset and he was headed in the same direction as you (he was in front of you at that point, and walking away from you), you should have just hung back at the park and talked to us for a couple of minutes. Sometimes it is better to de-escalate the situation, especially when all you would have lost is some of your time. You could have been stabbed or worse.

If someone is following or acting suspiciously around you stay in the public with people around, don't go to a quiet area or a place with not many people around, and if after a period of time it is continuing to happen call the authorities and let them know what is transpiring and follow their instructions. Thank god the assailant didn't use a weapon and you are alright.

I live in Lynn Valley B.C. and was in that area where the stabbings happened and there has been a rash of assaults in Vancouver as well , just be carful and don't engage the freaks ..LOL Glad your fine.

OMG I just Read what Happened I can't believe he followed you into the subway and Assulated you. I left the stream early as I had to go out and just watched the end of the first stream and was freaking out and just finished watching this one. In the future, it would be wise to keep an eye out for a surprise assault, after any strange encounters. However, it's understandable that you didn't do so because you were multi-tasking doing the Live Stream. Nevertheless, had you saw him coming, you could have time to put down the expensive camera equipment and defended yourself.

Hey Johnny, I saw your Live Stream (the walk outside) when I got home from Square One on Thursday, & man that was unbelievable that you got assaulted by someone that was nice to you / seen you before until the end. I have no clue why he did this, I wished it never happen like that. I'm really sorry that you suffered a sprain to your middle right finger along with your nose bruise & back left ear bruise. I hope the person gets justice if he's caught, & you can always take breaks from recording outside if you have fears again from any bad people out there. Earlier today while you were at Bathurst and Bloor streaming your walk I thought 'how safe is it for Johnny recording his walks!' There's alot of crazy characters around town. Sorry to hear about the assault and yes the asshole who sucker punched you is a coward. IMO I don't think there is much the cops can do in this case. I suggest be aware of your surroundings and for security have a friend walk with you. Be Safe.
