    Underrated. I don't comment a lot, but really gotta say, great tutorial, thank you for making this. If you only use substance like twice a year, learing and remembering things is a pain in the rear, but this tutorial brings you back to speed in no time. Please never delete this, i will need it again every half year or so

    Fantastic tutorial. I've been using the furbrush for over a year, but there were a lot of details in here I was completely unaware of, and it 's helped immensely with my texture quality

    Thanks for this tutorial. Saves me time from making hair with real geometry in blender. Btw the paint along path update in substance painter has made painting fur so much easier!

      @@P3RCY okay that worked thanks. One last question, I'm trying to make the fur look shiny by adjusting the roughness value in a new fill layer. I used a black mask and a fill referencing to the fur anchor point but the fur color just becomes washed out and not shiny. I also went to the Fur Data layer changed the roughness in the Tweaking section but it doesn't work. How can I achieve this effect?

    • @P3RCY
      @P3RCY  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@arise3494 The only thing I can think of is having a fill layer with no roughness so it'll be really shiny. Other than that, it would have to be done outside of Substance painter. Mainly in Unity. You can edit and play with the setting software how shiny the textures are

  • @Daggett1122
    @Daggett1122 9 месяцев назад +1

    It's interesting that you use the fur brush on the mask layer as well. The official manual recommends using a basic soft brush, I'll have to try the fur brush to see how that changes things.

    • @P3RCY
      @P3RCY  9 месяцев назад +1

      This tutorial is a bit out dated. I actually do use a soft brush for the masking layers now. I highly recommend using the soft brush like the manual says! :3

    One thing I noticed is that it looks way better in substance than in unity. Have you got any unity shader to recommend using with it? Tried standart and poiyomi but none really worked as well as the substance one.

    • @P3RCY
      @P3RCY  Год назад +2

      Nope. I think it's just the way it transfers over sadly

    • @Eslar
      @Eslar Год назад +2

      make shure to export your textures in the 4k resolution you probaply work in, then in unity it default reduces the resolution to 2k textures. that might be part on the quality loss.
      but in general yes, substance renders the materials a lot cleaner than the unity standard shader.

    I have a lot of problems reopening a project, somehow the brush lags way too much to the point that it doesn't draw at all. I haven't found anything about this on internet, any way to go around this problem?

      Sounds like you might need to clear the Substance Painter cache. Only time mine lags is when I made longs strokes with the brush
