Her belts in this era felt so heavy and powerful! A lot of the sustained belts have a similar vibe to them if that makes sense. I LOVE this era so much

So basically all of TEOM is dramatic as hell, call it
    "The Dramatization of Mimi"

One of her best albums vocally, these resonant belts are another level of eargasm and the transitions are impressive

The change from Stay The Night and Circles at 2:23 is so organic for some reason

    What happened to:
    "Fly like a Bird"
    "We Belong Together"
    "Don't Forget About Us"

Well I think the video was more towards the dramatic switches in songs like going from really high belting to like a whisper sound so probably thats why those songs arent there.

I love how you worded all of this bc this is exactly how I feel about this album. I love the drama of it all, the belts, complex runs, insane climaxes etc. This and charm bracelet are two of her most vocally challenging albums

The amount of hate it gets in the lambily seeing as to without it Mariah would have never come back from the break down and never have that humongous come back and vocally if I can be honest I feel like 2002-2005 were a second vocal prime with more power even tho she put vibrato to the side for a little bit

  • @rosemont2283

Could you also do this for the Charmbracelet album? Her 5th octave belts are underrated for post prime standards.

    1990 : Underdeveloped, newbie
1992 : Whistle to the max!
    1993 : Firm & unparalled mid-chest belting prowess
1994 : Underrated era. Vocal in transition between 2 eras
1995-1996 : Thinner, lighter, higher vocals. Less powerful but great agility and elasticity
1997 : Buttery vocals. Whisper register introduction, heavier upper chest but fully in sound
1999 : You know what happened
2002 : Regained power not fully but almost there
2005 : There were good/bad days but one thing for sure, nodules took toll to this day

One thing that separates this album from the rest of her discography is the sheer power, effort, determination in every single word and phrase. You can literally hear her voice sounding like it’s about to break at times, she dedicated everything to this album, put her heart and soul into every little detail. That’s Mariah for you

Imagine she didn’t write WBT and have stay the night as single lol she’s gonna belt her ass off I’m every concert( but I doubt if she would make it back to number one if it had not been WBT)
