This is the best SMB3 walkthrough by far, thorough as hell. Fav part about your walkthrough tho is the captions, the way you immerse yourself in the game and narrate in your own way.. its so pure and entertaining, reminds me of how I felt when I was a kid playing this game for hours on end. Keep it up homie, love ur work 💯💯
Thanks! I always liked doing the captions for the mainline games so people can enjoy the gameplay, the information, or both. A lot of other people's channels can do the talking thing better, so text works for me!
I was born in 98 and I still lived in what I call the "ignorance era", where we as kids purely enjoyed things, playing outside, had patience with videogames, etc. I don't want to sound like an oldie lol. But it is sooo easy to just search and online guide of a videogame in these days. You only need to die three times before you feel frustrated and look for a guide... (everyone nowadays tbh, myself first, since I'm writting this comment in a walkthrough hahaha). We have lost the "be in the moment" feeling. Too many distractions, and empty content, we are fucking up our brains dude... I just wanted to compliment your commentary, so pure and inmersive and I ended up writing this, because what you did with your commentary is something only someone my age or older would do, for the reasons I described before... We lived things in a different way. Thank you so much for bringing these memories back.
Wow that was a waste! I've already used the green turtle shell after the double fire flowers in the 2nd sand trap. Then grab the shell run full speed through the twister jumping through it. Then land and as soon as the sun comes at me kill it will the shell. Been doing it like that since I was a kid. As an only child I had many hours to learn new tricks, lol
I am 34 as well. I played this game a lot back in the early 90s, and I remember that I always got really surprised and perplexed when the white mushroom house or the coin ship appeared on the maps.
When I was a kid in the early 90s, I thought that the pyramid stage required that I turned into Raccoon Mario for the block obstacles (which is actually very easy to do on that stage) - but now when I look back at it today, I immediately realise that I can simply throw the Buzzy Beetles on the blocks instead. I guess I didn't know back then that I could throw them like that.
World 2 gave me a lot of trouble back when I first played this game. I remember it taking several attempts for me to get through that Pyramid level, and I was also stuck on the quicksand level for longer than I should have been. Also, can I just say how thankful I am that the Fire Bros are so rare? When I first uncovered that hidden area, the Fire Bros there killed me 3 or 4 times before I was able to beat them. They would be an absolute nightmare to deal with for me if they were common enemies.
Agreed. I think this is one of the most genuinely difficult 2D Mario games around. It has a lot of enemies or things that can mess you up that most other Mario games either toned down on or don't have at all in later installments.
I first played SMB 3 back in the Summer of 1989 on a Play Choice Cabinet when it was going through its localization. I remember my neighbor bringing it home for his Birthday that Early December. Every kid was over his house.(Mario 3 got a Trial release in the Holiday season of 1989 4 years to the day of NES' trial release) We ALL in awe on how Flawless the game was. I remember beating World 2 after several tries, it turned out to be easier than I thought.
Why did you not grab the turtle shell run full force through the twister then kill the sun with the shell? That's how I've done it since I was a kid and it won't come back either.
I like messing around during these vids at times. So letting the tornado catch me the first time was intentional. That said, missing the sun with the shell wasn't. Made for a silly moment at least.
There's also a glitch in 2-1 the p switch that is almost near the end and in the pipe to it. When you hit it once. Go in the pipe where the p switch is the p switch we respawn when you got it go back to back the coins and the oh I forgot the uh koopa inside of a block the coins and koopa inside block respawns you can get some 1-ups with this trick
17:05: Not really. I raised myself on the All-Stars version as a kid. They were able to hide blocks better in that version. Morton Koopa Jr. is nothing that ten oddly gray fireballs can't handle. I'm guessing he and the fireballs share a palette.
Wow, I didn't know the 1up trick in the fortress or that the chain chomp can let loose. As much as I played this, I clearly don't know of some things in it. Also, I remember as a kid I would use the P-wing in the angry sun level because I use to suck at the level, but now I do better at it I would think.
@vidaa82 that wouldve been boss! as a young boy, i loved deserts and desert worlds in mario 2 and 3, they fascinated me because of all the awesome buildings left in deserts (of all places) by various ancient civs. thats cool that others feel like me, about that.
Stomp on the turtle first so it goes in its shell, then hold the run button (B on the NES) as you move toward it to pick it up. You have to keep holding B to hold it or you'll kick it away.
Jump on it first, then hold the run button (B on the NES controller) as you approach it. Once you let go of the run button, you'll automatically kick it, so the button has to stay held down.

Never knew you could kill the sun I just used the power up and flew over that level.

pro tip : you can watch movies on flixzone. I've been using them for watching a lot of movies lately.
@Deacon Eric Definitely, have been watching on flixzone for since november myself :D
@Deacon Eric definitely, I have been watching on Flixzone for months myself :)
The moving sun used to freak me out as a kid
Me too. Man this is crazy how so many people have said this.
Do the dancing palm trees make anyone else giggle? 😛
I love em.
I absolutely love this. Desert Land is my favorite
What i like from this guy is he is so interactive about talking or such
Thank you so much for these walkthroughs, and love the helpful commentary!
You got it!
I remember being blown away at how much more advanced this game was from 1 and 2.
Yea man I member that
Me too. I still am. It pushed video games to another level.
34 yr old here, this was the very first game I ever played on Nintendo ☺️ The music is beyond nostalgic

That Sun haunted my childhood for so long
I remembered the level but forgot which game it was lol😂
Lol that's crazy how so many of us were haunted by him lol.
I hated that sun he did my head and haunted my childhood
I like how they perfectly do the card matching game but mess up on putting the flower together 😂
Fine workmanship. Loved the angry sun part!

@@Bean1227 Can't say I've never done it a few times myself, lol So the big question? What's your favorite world and your least favorite one?
Tough one. I guess Giant Land would be my favorite and Ice Land would be the one that I like the least.
Also if you have a raccon suit till the end of 2-5 you can just fly and avoid the freed chain chomp
I now remember where my irrational fear of quick sand came from
Quicksand doesn't really swallow you, however it can make it very hard to move, so there is still a very good reason to avoid it.
The nostalgia is real.
Yeah, this game definitely brings back good memories. On the plus side, it's not nostalgia that makes the game great. It just flat-out is!
@@Bean1227Definitely
The Sun freaked me out as a kid
Thank you for making this video it helped a lot
No problem!
Thumbs up if you came for the dancing palm trees 🌴 🎶
I came for my extreme love for this game and because Desert Land is my favorite land.
Brings back so many memories. Playing this with my brother
Helpful! Thank you.
When you turn the angry sun upside down. It looks sad. Or hurt. Or both
Awe I just noticed that 😕
Man...I turned 40 this year and just now have been proven that you can kill that asshole angry sun...
I always save that hammer for Giant Land. That red mushroom house before 4-1 is a guaranteed takooni suit
You killed our sun 😭😭 How was it still light out, though? 😂
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAGAHAHA
17:05: Not really. I raised myself on the All-Stars version as a kid. They were able to hide blocks better in that version.
Morton Koopa Jr. is nothing that ten oddly gray fireballs can't handle. I'm guessing he and the fireballs share a palette.
I miss this game
in los angeles it’s 115° out... that’s us right now
Why the heck is the overworld theme the desert theme??
I don't know why but, I found the angry sun very annoying back when I was a kid…
Lakitu is worse
My favourite world in the game!
You don't have to toss the turtle shell at the sun to kill it. You can hold the shell and touch him with it. Seems easier.
Wow, I didn't know the 1up trick in the fortress or that the chain chomp can let loose. As much as I played this, I clearly don't know of some things in it. Also, I remember as a kid I would use the P-wing in the angry sun level because I use to suck at the level, but now I do better at it I would think.
RockaPeteDX I liked to pretend the Angry sun level was a “speed run” and try and sprint through.
It blows me away how other people had the same experiences I did with the Angry Sun. I used to use my P wing until I found out how to outmaneuver him.
Desert Land was probably my favorite besides Ice Land
I like the giant
@@sdfvmbshdbgsdbv giant land was cool in world 4 everything was big
@@sdfvmbshdbgsdbvGiant Land is so cool and fun. It's very unique.
Didn't know the shell worked. I know you get points if the sun is onscreen when you get the card. Star power also works
In my run, level 2 was broken and I couldn't complete it. I have no idea how that could happen
its cool that you can go inside a pyramid. always wondered what thatd be like...... they shoulda had a pharoah to keep it legit.

@vidaa82 agreed!
Ah the freshest memories of mario
Level 4 is currently Virginia
The only level that I think is the most difficult in World 2 is the one with the mad sun!
That's easy
Thank you sooooo much😍i know how to play now😘
love how the music is random pitch every note xd

Hi guys,
How to bring the tutle then throw it? Thanks
Stomp on the turtle first so it goes in its shell, then hold the run button (B on the NES) as you move toward it to pick it up. You have to keep holding B to hold it or you'll kick it away.
@@Bean1227 great, i did it for first time after 30 years.
Thanks 😁
Please tell me, how can Mario hold the turtle in his hands?
Jump on the enemy to put it in its shell first, then hold the run button as you move up to one. Mario will automatically grab the shell.
@@Bean1227 Thank you, I will try it. Another question, How can Mario slide down below block in?
Press down on the D-Pad when running to slide under blocks when big.
Bro thanks! I stuck right before final castle. Now i understood there is a level to complete bofre it
You got it. Hopefully you got past that part and further along in the game!
Yo what’s the anchor do?
I show it off in the World 5 vid as a bonus, but it stops the airship from moving around the map if you fail to clear the stage.
21:30 the Princess got bars.
I’ve always said this to myself, and I still say this to this very day. I hate desert levels/ worlds in video games 😂😂
Really? Why? I don't understand this. This is my favorite world.
How can I pick the turtle?
Jump on it first, then hold the run button (B on the NES controller) as you approach it. Once you let go of the run button, you'll automatically kick it, so the button has to stay held down.

DRIVING AND I'M SPEEDING
What does that anchor do?
I think I show it off in the World 5 video, but the Anchor stops an Airship from moving around the map if you lose.
