They rarely went below a 9, across the World Cup tournaments they played in. Maradona had the most spectacular single World Cup tournament display. But across his four World Cup's tournaments. Only in 1986 he showed any true consistency. His other World Cup tournaments where uneven. Not so with Beckenbauer. Every World Cup tournament he played. He glossed to a highly polished veneer. 1966, 1970, World Cup tournament's. He played as a driving, pulsating midfield player. Going on spectacular ball carrying runs. Driving through players like a piston engine, was spectacular to watch. His 1974 World Cup. He played the revolutionary libero position, in which he showed his marquee defensive reading & postioning. Tackles, headers, all supremely timed. And his long, raking passes out from the back( lots hit first time, with no prior touch to steady the ball ) incredible! He's definitely in the all time T5-6 players of all time.
