Lucas-Milhaupt will show how to braze copper tubing and fittings easily, with the help of Sil-Fos® filler metals. Note that no flux is required, because the phosphorus in Sil-Fos provides a self-fluxing ability when used with copper.

What chemically is the glassy rose-colored residue after brazing a joint with Sil-Fos products (I use 15%)?
What is the best way to remove the rosy residue, when needed?

@Swim Fan It is not flux as no flux is used in copper to copper joints made with silver-phosphorus filler metal.

Poor video: no mention of correct shade of eye protection, too much heat making the copper dead soft by extended annealing, wrong type deep seating plumbing fitting, no mention of oxidation inside the tubing, no mention of nitrogen purge requirements, no mention of...yada yada. Rediculous video.

Give credit where it’s due any hvac professional should know that you need to flow nitrogen when brazing and any professional tradesman knows the risk involved with the jobs and precautions they have to take. They did a better job brazing correctly than most other manufacturers do when showing demos of brazing equipment. Plus I’m sure that joint didn’t leak under pressure test which is ultimately the goal.

The video was about brazing copper to copper using sil phos with no specification of the application the brazed copper would be used for. If the video was refrigeration specific brazing, then I would agree with your comment.
