    Nice! Welcome to the US amigo! I use a 60Watt 1st gen Catalyst during worship rehearsal. Use it aas a poweramp with a Boss GX-100. Super happy.

      Im interested in that. How does the Catalyst sound with a modeler going power amp in vs say studio monitors?

    • @cgcarreno
      @cgcarreno 6 месяцев назад

      @@VintageRadius Good question, unfortunately I don't have studio monitors to compare the Catalyst with. I can tell you however that it keeps up amazingly during rehearsal. The modeler takes care of all the parameters when going through the power amp in. The only knobs that remain active from the Catalyst are the Master Volume and the Attenuator (output power).

    • @VintageRadius
      @VintageRadius 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@cgcarreno nice to hear you’re happy with it! I have an Hx Stomp and it crossed my mind to get a Catalyst for evening playing and the added benefit to use the power amp in with the Stomp if I like how it sounds. I like the Stomp through Studio monitors and you can do true stereo effects but I’m limited to the one room where I have them set up

    • @cgcarreno
      @cgcarreno 6 месяцев назад

      @@VintageRadius sounds like your monitor/HX Stomp set up is a place for inspiration and where time stands still. Must be wonderful! I hear only good things about the HX Stomp. The added benefit of a light weight amp is that you can change your setting, if need be, even if that means going mono for a while. I've carried it to and from practice every week and it's held up really well. I also take it to my bedroom once in a while and noodle for a bit before going to sleep. Wish you the best on your musical journey!

    Great demo, but it's also worth noting that all the new features and models have been made available on the original Catalyst line through a firmware update. Awesome move from line 6 to make this available for free when they could easily have promoted the CX as an upgrade amp.

      For the first time ever, I can't see any feature differences between the models. Apart from wattage and therefore attenuation. Even the 60w model has a 12" speaker! In the past I've had to buy amps that are way too loud for home use just to get the features I want. This happened with my Vypyr and Mustang. Each time I bought the 100w version just to get more features and ended up retiring the amps because I couldn't get the best out of them at lower volumes. In this case though, I'd buy the 60w without regret.

    Good amp, but Line6 should consider making a smaller version of this. I mean everyone is running from these big amps. I prefer the Positive Grid Spark for the size. Good video tho!

    • @VintageRadius
      @VintageRadius 6 месяцев назад +1

      I hear you, IMO more people are running from heavy amps for easier portability. The small desktop amps are a different thing that Catalyst is just not trying to be. But I would argue the Catalyst 60 qualifies as a living room amp based on its dimensions and can no doubt maintain its tone super quiet. Perhaps check that out or the Katana 100 head that has a 5 inch speaker so it can also be a desktop amp

      @@VintageRadius Well actually I will be soon receiving the Boss Katana Air EX, witht he new improved speakers and amp models it is the best offerign for a stable and reliable desktop amp. I wish the spark 40 was more stable but not my thing to fiddle all day with my phone .

    I'll never understand many guitarists love for several tons of crappy beer commercial sounding reverb trying to cover up a rather questionable overdrive or distortion sound.
    I think reverb has its place in thr guitar world but especially on overdriven and distorted tones the majority of guitar sounds in the last few decades sound (as well as the ones in this demo) sound to me like a cartoon version of heavy guitar.

    • @JemmyJems
      @JemmyJems  Месяц назад

      You must like one genre of music or guitar. Many session guitarists of amazing records have been using delay in their chain for decadessssss. Listen to 80s session guitarists from LA and nashville.

    • @7171jay
      @7171jay Месяц назад

      @JemmyJems
      Actually I like many types of guitar music from jazz and blues 1930s -1960s, rhythm and blues, early rock and roll, surf, psych, garage, 60s and 70s hard rock, punk, as well as many 80s bands that used reverb and delay in ways that I enjoy from The Cure to The Church, and The Fixx but when it starts sounding like the guitar in a TV commercial I'm out. It is true that many of the genres of music that I prefer have little or no reverb on the guitar but certainly not all.
      Yeah... it's all just what happens to appeal to someone or not and this happens to be my personal taste.
