I’m So glad I found your video channels and Instagram. You inspire me beyond words, heartfelt words!!! Bless You!!!! …. 21:38 and thank you for being you and giving back, sharing your creativity, inspiration, and so much more.💖💖
Never really thought about there being a scientific reason why I enjoy paper crafts so much! I laughingly said it’s cheaper than a therapist and it’s true! Thanks for your thoughts and I love your journal
Wendy, you are a true gift in multiple ways. You give and and add so much to me and others that enrich our lives. With so much gratitude for doing and sharing this lovely video! I was a delight to see many things from FS 1 and 2. I loved every minute. Watching this is a reminder to revisit the amazing classes.
I love everything about this post. Your art is always gorgeous and definitely gets my creative juices flowing. And I have been a student of flow for some time, so your reflections and experiences really resonates for me. Flow is a bit like orgasm for me - if I'm actively pursuing it, it definitely becomes elusive, or just vanishes entirely. So cultivating the conditions that support it, like you do with having the elements of your journaling at hand and easily available, definitely works best for me. Your fodder school concept is turning out to be a major game changer for me, and this video deepened the idea pool nicely. Thank you so much for this, I'll be rewatching often to spark my flow.
Wow…I just discovered your RUclips’s! This one was…OMGosh….sooo needed! I need and want to get back to my art, play and making! I do it sewing things by hand now but sooo miss the FLOW of ART….PAINT! My therapy! Thank you sweet girl!❤
Who knew?? I was so deep in flow yesterday that I took a break from art to put dinner in the oven, went back to my art room, and forgot all about it for like 2 hours. My folios are amazing, dinner...not so much!! I loved your video!!
Oh Wendy! What a fantastic RUclips video. It is definitely going to my saved file to watch again and again. Great explanation of the Flow state and how important it is for us. Thank you
Love the flow state idea. It’s like “glimmers”. JJ & everything around it creates that for me. It helps me breathe. And a consistent creative community was missing for me before discovering JJ. Love it & really love your page! ❤❤ tfs
Wendy at the end, it will be ok… For this terrible moment in our lives will make us grow in a different way for years to come. I still do not understand why we have to go through such agony but at the end we will know why… slavanout… I miss your lessons in FDS… Merci 😊
Thank you. I needed to hear this. I was just working on Meghan Quinlen’s month in FS3 and found myself frustrated because I have left the last three months of FS3 unfinished. Looking at others Instagram and Blogs and videos of their GLORIOUS art has me frustrated and overwhelmed. So I picked it apart tonight: why?? Why have I collected all the supplies but haven’t completed a project yet? I see the value of sticking w one color palette. But I am a beginner mixed media artist. So it is still taking me a minute to hone my colors; nothing matches quite yet. And because things don’t match, I can’t use flowers we did in Oct w papers we just created. I love what you said about making it easy on yourself to create by having all your bits and bobs-in your color palette-around you. So tonight, I just let it go. I worked on the Gelli plate and didn’t have an agenda. Instead of copying others, I let whatever color come! I went into flow state and just made a ton of papers. By the end I was calm and had a new color palette that I love.
I love it that you talked about flow state in this video! I have always found it fascinating. WAY back in my youth I would lose all sense of time while working in a photography darkroom for my art classes- when I learned the term flow it perfectly described that happy state. Cheers for using it to help lift yourself up when feeling down. What a great lesson!
This happened to me only once when I was sitting quietly drawing. I just sat drawing shapes for pottery pieces. The next thing I know is it is an hour later and I have drawn a page of beautiful pots which I went on to make. I had no idea till now it is an actual thing. Thank you for sharing this.
Wow, never heard of this flow state, but I do experience it every time I’m in my craft room. Journaling, memory keeping, paper crafting while listening to podcasts. Love your writing! Isabel
Great video, Wendy. There are hundreds and hundreds of RUclips videos out there of people making junk journals, but not much about how they actually use them. I love how you fill the pages with your handwriting!
What a surprise to see you this morning. I already did my page but it was nice to listen to you describe Flow. Thank you for keeping us motivated to create and write more.
Thank you for this, Wendy. I had never heard of a flow state but it makes perfect sense now. I’ve fallen a bit behind in FS3 (my first time in FS) and looking at all the artwork produced has been somewhat intimidating. I am grateful for the reminder that it’s ok to grow slowly, to struggle, and have low expectations at first. There is no growth in anything, music, athletics, etc. without the struggle and mistakes. So thank you for that reminder. On this frigid midwestern day I will be getting back on track and playing with the Dec. challenge. ❤️
I am perpetually behind here in FS3, due to illness and death in my household. Still struggling to catch up, but in a way that I enjoy and play instead of beating myself up for being behind. Trying to just enjoy the flow and leave everything else behind.
Struggling to keep up with FS3 in the face of illness and death in my household. Trying to remember to play and enjoy, not beat myself up trying to catch up!
@@sunnyetal1950 I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. You certainly have a good excuse for falling behind but I’m glad you are still able to play and allow that flow state to take your mind off things for a bit. ❤️🙏
As you know I just love love love your art. I was wondering if you have a video where you talk about developing your personal color palette, or give advice on doing that?
Thank you so much for this video Wendy! I’ve only recently come to know “flow state”, and starting to understand how my crafting is such a big part of it! You do such lovely work, always an inspiration! (A side note question: Where did you find the beautiful golden artichoke dish in the back ground!? It’s fantastic! ❤
Love your style and your projects. If you’d like to learn more about FLOW state, I highly suggest Rian Doris on RUclips. He has FLOW all figured out. Thanks for sharing your creativity gift with us! Love ya!
@@willawanders my son is a graphics art designer. I recommended Rian to him,as well. It’s so important to be focused as an artist and artists’ minds work differently. I think you’ll be greatly impressed with Rian and his Focus expertise.
Thank you for this inspiring video. I have a question about materials: what is the applicator you are using for the fine lines of glue? How wonderful to be able to just put glue where you want it!!
Hi Doneta! All of the gorgeous papers that I am using while I create in this video were all created during one of our months of Fodder School lessons. I was using papers from lessons by Julie Hamilton during September of Fodder School 2. If you are interested in exploring what Fodder School offers, please visit willawanders.com/fodder-school. You can email me at willaworkshops@gmail.com if you have other questions.

you are so sweet! We really have Meg to thank for getting me to make these videos!
I always called the flow state my zone. I always get there when I am creating, or gardening, or walking. thank you for the inspiration
totally and exactly the same thing!

Hi Wendy! Excellent video, and cheers to healthy brain chemicals! ❤
what we we do without our art and the healthy brain chemicals that are released? I just do not know!!!

Great video, Wendy. There are hundreds and hundreds of RUclips videos out there of people making junk journals, but not much about how they actually use them. I love how you fill the pages with your handwriting!
I use them as art therapy without the cost of a therapist!
Really love that. I do the same filling in with journaling in my junk journaling, but it doesn’t look as beautiful as Wendy’s.

Thanks, Wendy; I am going to assemble some bits and pieces, to use in a junk journal and then work to see what happens!
