He's one of my top three favorites, but best? It's not really a competition and if it were, Ron Thal, Guthrie Govan, and Matthias IA Eklundh are technically far more proficient.
I dont think there is any one that can match all the tunes he has put on the plate, at the level he puts them out, also no matter what ,you can tell when he plays. He still uses the same tone always and still never has ran dry on creative Ideas. Who can you say has matched him ?
Great song. Michael Schenker is one of my favourite guitar players, perhaps he is my all time favourite. This song is a bit like him in the 80s and 90s which is great.
New single! Michael Voss-Lead Vocals Michael Schenker-Lead Guitar Steve Mann-Keyboards/Guitar Barry Sparks-Bass Bodo Schopf-Drums I honestly really like the song. All the ingredients were in the song for Michael to play one of his classic guitar solos, and he held back from doing that. I’m always happy for new music, and I like what Michael does play on this song, but find myself longing for a hair raising solo from Michael again. Just my personal opinion.
To a degree, I agree with you about the solo, but do you not think he’s got the balance just about right? Think he’s very aware of having it more of a collective effort these days. You get a sprinkling of guitar, but it’s always very good
@@robplant4984 To a degree, I agree with you as well. I’m not opposed to a collective effort, I actually embrace it. Michael always plays with excellent musicians, and I want it to be about a band, and not just about Michael. And I know that Michael is all about self expression in his playing and can play whatever he wants. Whether he does or not I will always be a fan, but I still think Michael could still unleash on solos from time to time without taking away from a collective effort, because the other musicians are good enough to shine as well when playing alongside Michael’s soloing.
@@scottwilson5609 maybe there’ll be a good slot for him on one of the other tracks on the album. The 2 instrumentals on the last 2 albums have been top drawer. It’d be interesting to see if he could still create a rock bottom type solo or lost horizons
@@scottwilson5609 - I’m with you, Scott. This song is crying out for Michael to unleash one of his slow-building, masterpiece solos where he blazes freestyle through the fade-out. I’ll never tire of that as long as I live. And he can do it at will, like no other!
Michael's lead solo on this song is best ever: great tone, simple, melodic, memorable and complementing the song. Play this song once will hit your heart play this song twice you're in nostalgic mode.

A proper power ballad in a MS album after a while! Beautiful, beautiful piece of music. Reminded me a bit of Scorpion’s Holiday and Summerdays from In the Midst of Beauty.
The short guitar intro reminds me of the guitar fanfares intro of "In search of the peace of mind" from Lonesome crow, I mean maybe it's just a coincidence but it would be a nice tribute to his first song ever written which is also in a new rendition on the new upcoming album 👍
@@mikapirinen2403 you are right! Frigging love that song. I can even hear some traces of the verses for Sea of Faith too. This song would have fit very well in Covenant/Sharks!
Its good to see michaels stuff does not all sound the same. This tune has a bit of a scorpions sound and also reminds me of late 80s/early 90s hair metal. Love it
magnificent heart felt gorgeous !!! this is so great it is his finest stuff since robin era i immediately bonded to the vibe of this made me walk on the clouds ---if the rest of the album is like this i can die a happy man Bravo sir superb singer that does compliment your playing here cheers to all im ready to rock
I have listened to all three of the vids for the new CD and I must say the use of diff singers is a fantastic idea. It adds such a much wider range of music to the overall sound. GREAT STUFF !! It simply blows away most of what is coming out today.
this is so grand epic sounding i liked it first time now its grown on me to become something so beautiful ...i always listen to a new schenker and i like it but then i can put it down go back to it month later and its like an old friend and it warms your heart-strings ...ty so much EVERY TRACK WONDERFUL !!
Actually the more I listen to this the more I like it...a nice change of pace..it offers some new ideas...Michael is constantly moving forward. There are fresh elements in this song.. listen close....this song stands on its own. If you look closely near the beginning of this song.. on Michaels jacket there is a picture of Michael in the UFO days (and it is hard to make out but it appears to be maybe Pete Way with him?) Nice touch.
This is the best song on the last MSG album. And in general, of the last rock works, no song has ever clung to me so much as this. Thanks to Michael and his band!
If this song was performed by Scorpions during their peak popularity in late 1980s' (let's imagine for a while MS reunited for one song), it would have become a major hit and be played 5 times a day by most radio stations. This is the power of a fashionable name/brand and an opportune moment. Thirty years later the same material (quite good, if not amazing, because schematic) only becomes known to a couple thousands faithful fans, including me.
As a HUGE MSG / UFO fan, I'd give this 8 out of 10 stars. Michael's playing is tasty and Soulful as ever ( if a little "lukewarm" as some of the comments made note of below... ) and the song is decent. It doesn't really break any new ground, but I'm happy that our "Old Guitar Heroes" are not ALL gone. We lost Randy, Eddie, and Gary, but Michael is still going strong! :)
What an inspiration on a generation!!!So melodic, light years ahead of his brother!Whatever happened to Micheal and rudolfs sister Barbara who played in that band VIVA????
Love Michael Voss and this song. Not supposed to be MSG. It is what it is. Doesn't need critiquing in my world. The lyrics are the main thing as Michael doesn't do a major lead in the song. I love that. He's earned his stripes and doesn't have to do a scorching solo in every song.
Both MS Fest albums and now these last two which venture more into power metal in some places… all four have some of Michael’s best writing and playing. It’s said that someone had to do some of his parts on Arachnophobiac because he was in some turmoil. Well, we know with zero doubt that the Man himself played every single note on the last 4 albums. I’m going back through the full catalogue including projects and covers, that’s all I have been listening to for over a month, I’m celebrating the third stage (and prior) with Michael… what a legacy. No player has been more of a purist and more prolific. The man literally just could play through any amp on any guitar zero effects or even wah and it would be instantly recognizable and awesome.
what a song i cant stop listen to it it is so melodic so schenker like guitar solo from heaven man this song give some hope and strengh in this panedmic days i hate to say it but its true.
This needs Robin McAuley. You would have the key ingredients of McAuley-Schenker back together again. The late 80s MSG albums are incredibly premier. Melodic hard rock at it's finest with one of the best voices of that era.
They need someone on the level of Gary Barden & Grahm Bonnet. Those were the classic MSG albums. Early 80's. Robin Mcauley is exactly when it started going downhill.
Couldn't agree more..I hate glam rock, it destroyed Judas Priest and McAuley was the epitome of glam rock and brought the worst out in Schenkers music, Phil Mogg and UFO were the best thing for bringing out Schenkers talent
@@crusheverything4449 It is like comparing VH with DLR or Hagar. Yes Hagar sings better but the writing and chemistry? No comparison. (Though Hagar with Montrose 2 thumbs up). The first 4 MSG albums with Barden and Graham Bonnet are untouchable. Anytime, Gimmie Your Love, Rock til your Crazy? Ok, but not on same level. Again like Van Hagar Vs classic VH.
