Those black cases are. Perfect for the HP. Your right about factory accessories they are the best. When selling electronics I always explained that the better manufacturers used 5% resistors instead of 10%. And it shows after years of use.
Ha... before you mentioned it Shawn, I was thinking "Is that black top box bigger than the silver one?". It definitely gives you the impression of being more formidable. I think I would skip the top box unless touring, or riding two-up.
I do agree most of the time regarding investing in quality or OEM luggage. In my case, I invested in the Black SW Motech Adventure Pannier quick release system for my Black Yamaha Super Tenere ES. While this aftermarket option was $1800 and cost more than the OEM cases, overall fit, finish, durability and features I felt were superior. The cases have performed beyond my expectations during a few extended tours and I would invest in them again if needed.

Ok I impressed with the sound of the pocket. Initially I got excited about when it was released but calmed down. Sound is fine no difference from past vlogs.
Black bags are a great improvement. I know I’ll get haters on this, but for me I still don’t like the gold rims. Blue, black, white, silver, that bike has enough colors. Again, just me. Thanks
Black Panniers is the way to go. Besides, black tends to blend in and the eyes tend to look past them and focus on the colorful and beautiful GSA Tank Paint Job.. This is the optimal combination for this GSA paint job or actually any GSA paint/color. Lookin' Good, Lookin' Good. Happy Holidays!!!!
I didn't think I would like the black bags on the GSA, but once you got them on, it brought the black on the rest of the Bike out and everything just works.. Looks great.
Nice video. I fitted the silver ones on my GS1200 Rallye (black ones were not about at the time) but had a friend design a Rallye style vinyl wrap for them and put the snake skin rubber mats on the lids which creates a similar effect to yours. Only use them for touring but nice to have them in the garage ready to use as and when. Keep up the goos work.
The black looks way better, kind of hides them away into the background. It'd be interesting to see how they'd look after a few long trips on outback dirt tracks!
It's a personal choice but i prefer the stock aluminum boxes. The black ones are like the Emperors new clothes. Anyways keep up the good work, great job Shawn 🤓

I’m a bit late to the party here... I like the black cases on my 2018 Triple Black GSA, but I’m thinking of changing the bike to the 1250 Rallye GSA and would prefer the plain ally cases on that.
I put GIVI bags on mine. Not cheaper, but I just have the GS and the Vario bags weren't enough. The black bags on the GSA look great. I do wonder about the conspicuity of those compared to the silver ones. You definitely want something reflective on there! Ride safe!
I found out that the BMW engineers spent between four to five years perfecting the black coating. This is nice to know. Personally, I like the black cases much better.
The raw aluminum set I had prior showed scratches just by looking at them..! However the black is applied, it's heck for durable. Oddly, they don't attract heat in the summer like one would think... I'm sure the silver one's were hotter..! Hmmm, I'm just thinking about the fact that I chose the silver panniers for my Himalayan... Lol Hopefully the black RE panniers for Kelly's bike will be remotely as durable as the BMW's. One can always hope..? Thanks Scott!!
The general manager at my local BMW shop said the aluminum bags passed the “bologna sandwich “ test, but he did not know if the black ones would. It sounds like they will. I hope Kelly’s bags work out fine. Before your bike was available I looked at a used 2020 with the Aluminum bags , the GM let me try to see if my new Aerostich suit would fit in the left bag . The suit is bigger than my old 30 year old one that my wife wanted me to replace and will not fit in my Aprilia bags or top box. It fits in the left box just fine on the GSA. So I am surprised at how much the bags can hold!

Hi , The GSA is already huge, with these panniers, it becomes a real tank! 😱! What is the weight of all these panniers? Without indiscretion, Do these panniers have a real use for you everyday or is it just for the style, the adventurer look? Personally, BMW Vario full black panniers would not be bad and sufficient! In any case the R1250GSA HP is very beautiful, more beautiful than the HP R1250GS, which for the latter, I prefer Exclusive! 😉👍🏽✌🏽!

I love a lot of these ADV bikes but I’ve never understood why they place the exhaust so high and sticking out so far. It makes the rear ends look weird to me especially when the side bags are installed. 🤔🤷🏻♂️
I'm with you, I like the industrial, git'er done look of the BMW bags. And the black really knocks it outta the park! Just looking at a 1250 GSA makes me want to go on a cross country tour! My Dad and I always disagreed on how we spend our money. I'm all for spending the extra on quality, he always buys the cheapest crap he can find. In the end, he spends more because he has to keep replacing his cheap crap! Peace and love.

When you have your gear loaded up in those boxes what's the bike like to ride on the twisties?, do you have to fight the bike to get her around when leaning or how is it
You notice the additional weight when you first take off, but is 100% not there when riding, twisties and all..! The Dynamic ESA II Auto-Leveling suspension makes feel the same as unloaded. Pushing the bike around in a parking area, you feel the weight though... Lol Thanks!

the black cases do look nice . but i can see the price different say to givi . another top quility set up . for the same you have but in Givi the alloy are $379 less an the black $632 less for me that is a huge saving ,$1011 for as good a quality IMHO. i know what you are saying, but after buying a huge chunk of motorcycle a $1011 is a lot of miles riding .
It's an adventure dual sport bike, so creature comforts of riding two-up are not there, and it becomes really top heavy with a passenger... The GS model is just like riding a dual sport, and not passenger friendly for any distance. It's definitely doable on a GSA, but a long stretch away from your SGS's comfort..! Thanks Randy!
Yes I have, and it's quite shocking that footage is coming out of that tiny OSMO..! My computer locks up with 4K footage as well... Lol I have to use the iPad to view and edit 4K. I would love to use 4K more often, but it slows my daily workflow down too much at the moment... Thanks
Just got the same bike and top case; and my latch closes stubbornly. The two latch hooks seem to struggle centering over the latch rod and even then it's difficult to snap the latch handle down. Yours seem to close nicely; any thoughts?
This set, and the non-anodized set of bags prior were the same way. They seemed to heal themselves over time..? Maybe I've just learned how to deal with the quirkiness? Lol Thanks!

The top box from BMW is large and very useful, but it's square shape will not accept any full-face helmet that I know of. Not really a focus in the ADV world or storage... Thanks!!
hi there, I’ve been looking at 1250GSAs for a while and I started noticing that there’s a big gap between the tank and then seat when it’s a split seat, but not when there’s the rally seat. It doesn’t seem to be height dependent. Do you see the same thing ? Thought I may ask since you work with these bikes. Thanks in advance!
It's because the rally seat is non-adjustable and can be perfectly formed, where the two-piece seat needs to be able to adjust to any of it's multiple positions... Thanks Elia!

The black bags do look much better. I just don't see me ever buying a bmw. I know they are quality - just don't like the looks. too many angled brackets and sharp edge stuff. not smooth looking. it is function over form for sure. I converted from a honda to a Harley the heritage 2018 114 and I know what you mean about quality. that one has it too. and you are so right why buy cheap stuff for a bike you paid 20+ grand for. I do like your reviews on the bmw's though. I do appreciate them just not for me.

A BMW GSA is a utilitarian sport motorcycle and the bags fit this. I love the fact that their so big.

Ron Pleake The dimensions of the exhaust is a reflection of the restrictive Euro emission regulations...I replaced mine with a Remus Black Hawk...

The black bags do look much better. I just don't see me ever buying a bmw. I know they are quality - just don't like the looks. too many angled brackets and sharp edge stuff. not smooth looking. it is function over form for sure. I converted from a honda to a Harley the heritage 2018 114 and I know what you mean about quality. that one has it too. and you are so right why buy cheap stuff for a bike you paid 20+ grand for. I do like your reviews on the bmw's though. I do appreciate them just not for me.
