If the wings were posable/soft/flexible, then that'd be awesome. I want to try and recreate some of Ghidorah's "wyvern" poses! Good review! And damn he is an absolute unit indeed.
It would work, but consider it was shown before the film, and that people complained about gaps. And if the wings were soft,it wouldn't last, consider the experience of bendy wire on Godzilla tails were an issue. If you disagree, that's great, it is your opinion after all. But remember; these figures were made not just to pose and display, but to use them for "Stop Motion."
Really been on and off about this one and waited for this very review for that reason. Yeeeah, it's pretty much just a statue with articulation (God help those who want to animate this with stop motion) and that paint damage, especially the example posted in your pinned comment should be none existent with something this "premium". Good stuff with this review, I'm glad your still being honest despite the fact Bandai isn't going to do Jack all. This "looks" quite nice for sure with detail and sizing, but everything else kinda kills it. Sticking with the SCV Heisei for this one. Keep it up Steve and enjoy G-fest!
Honestly, if I wanted a 2019 Ghidorah figure that's actually top quality, I'll just get a statue. Sure it might be more expensive with no articulation, but at least it won't require me to repaint it so that it looks as amazing as it should.
Makes sense. Ni (right head) has a angry personality and loves to pick up fights, Ichi (Middle) is the alpha, so he has more spikes, and Kevin got beaten up and regenerated so many times he is as good as new.

Note: If you already received the SHMA Ghidorah (2019) and found the axis problem, unplug the left wing lose so it can be fixed by using tape glue, paper tape, tape, spray for a little bit. Once applying either a masking tape on the hexagonal core of the left wing, It will make it much tighter and secure.
For my experience, which I uploaded my unboxing: Mine was actually fine, and I do love this figure. With no balljoints poping off the neck (btw, Kevin's head falling off looks accurate to me, cheif , but maybe the right leg and left tail may pop off, but just barely. So no hard issue for me. As for the beams, I made my own. Sure this figure may not be perfect, but at least I have a King Ghidorah figure, so it was worth it. Edit: I forgot to ad this; thank you for the mention of Nii's horn (right head) is suppose to be like that.

So let me ask you another question, assuming Bandai makes a version 2.0 that fixes paint, articulation, and maybe accessories, would you still feel happy about owning this Ghidorah?? Here’s my reasoning behind that question, it would be my second ever SHMA fig (G19 is my first) and I would hate to miss out on something so massive and cool, but I would also hate myself for buying something “inferior.”

I mean, many of us wanted a Biollante 2.0 that has the beam because the original nowadays is pricey like over 900 dollars on eBay , but they didn't make one. And I knew the long run from S.H.MonsterArts website that he didn't come with beams so I made my own. And keep in mind that I thinked it thru while it was in pre-order back then. So it was either pay while the cost were around 1 400 kr (140 $ if it's US) plus shipping, or pay later on till the piece gets higher and I miss my chance. So it sås my choice. But you have your own opinion, and I don't mind it. And for the beams, it's bendy wire coated with glue from the glue-gun. I can make the tutorial if you want.

I'm so torn. On one hand I want to get it, on the other hand the last five SHM figures I bought had serious paint and QC issues. I really like SHM but the quality just isn't there these days. Prices went up and quality and paint went way down.

Hey, I'm debating what to get as my first SH figure. I've mainly been checking out the KoTM Godzilla, Godzilla Earth and the new Ghidorah. I like being able to keep my figures on my desk, but all of the SH Godzilla figures look flimsy and easy to break, so is it worth getting any of the 3 I listed, and if so, which ones?
As far as things are looking, even if the QC isn't the best, this will be the best representation of 2019 King Ghidorah, simply because 1) its the most articulated out of the bunch, 2) the size, 3) since NECA isn't doing theirs, the Monsterarts will be the only offering in the 6 inch scale, making him saddly the most sold after out of the Monsterarts' KOTM lineup
This is probably the first time I’ve seen a Monsterarts and wasn’t conflicted on wanting it. The wings are just like a statue, the necks and heads are out of proportion, and there’s just so much I don’t really like about it
Im really looking forward to the special color, but I hope they fix a lot of these issues. For him to be even more expensive than the original, it better....

It's tan because the suit is concept from movie because most of the scenes were in the dark because King ghidorah makes a lot storms in the movie so that's why the color on the figure is so dull so hope this helps
Try to stuck a small paper between the ball joint to cover it. Or u can paint the ball joint a bit or use super glue to make a new layer but if u haven t try those tricks u might want to try it on another figs or watch some gundam balljoint fix
The special color version of king ghidorah is the best king ghidorah figure because it cames with gravity beams and bandai stands for the beams and it came with a fight stand and it was 150 dollars msrp compare to this ghidorah 180 dollars msrp
I really don't like the color they went with..... It's like a bronze almost brown color, I thought he was supposed to be more brilliant and like a vibrant gold or yellow, the and the paint on the gums is crazy weird, those two things along with all the other issues you brought I think made me change my mind about buying this! KG’s wings are too heavy and the tail ball joints aren’t secure enough. I don’t have any problem with the necks at all. Great articulation and sculpt. The paint isn’t up to usual SHMA standards. I agree that KG’S sheer size is impressive when compared to other figures.
Thank god the price tag threw me off. Using the bandai PVC one as a place holder atm, honestly would be happier with a smaller but more reliable figure.
I think it's very expensive given the QC issues and outdated sculpt/paibt for the wings. I really hope Neca could give us a better Ghidorah, or at least one for a better price
I'm surprised you didn't mention the common issue of the jaws being off-center. They're like that on all the pictures I've seen and on mine as well. I suspect it's a molding issue, the socket for the jaw "joint" must be warped or something. Also; the jaws are not on a hinge, it's just a peg with a rounded off tip. That's right, it's not even a joint. The instructions tell you to NOT put the stands on the spikes. Is there a way to make the ball joints less prone to popping off? The right tail on my Ghidorah drives me bonkers.
Chances are Bandai won't but I think in a few years they'll make a SCV of Ghidorah with a gold paint job and bent wings. Probably being overly optimistic but a man can dream.
that's why i personally don't buy SH figures granted they all look amazing and the ghidorah looks insane BUT they're just to expensive for them to be fragile and falling apart every time i try to move it, id rather get xplus
I'm cautiously excited. Even though I agree that the paint being that iffy for a nearly $200 dollar figure is unacceptable, I never care about paint anyhow, so hopefully I won't care. But I really am not sure if I will be able to animate this thing at all, it just looks so clunky, which is saddening to me, as I really thought from the promotional images that the poseability looked great. Hopefully I will be able to worry about that at all though, because I ordered it nearly half a year ago from BBTS and it still hasn't been delivered, so I guess we'll see in a few weeks, or less, hopefully.
Got the figure today. And I was kinda disappointed as you are. However, the heads are much different when it comes to being lose or articulated (the one I have was attached fine I guess), I'm sad no flight stand or Gravity beams (I don't own the original Ghidorahs), I hope the Special Colors can do better and fix that dumb paint.

You might want to look at those instructions again. They're actually telling you to not put stands on the spikes but on the wing itself.

The beams in the mouth came from the original KG release, the big lightning bolt and parts on his wings are from the Tamashii effect thunder.

I had a hard time with the stands at first but now I got use to them. I repainted mine since my review and it looks awesome. Nice review, Steve.

It's pretty okay I have both NECA 2014 and 2019 Goji. And he is just a hair smaller than he should be but they still look good together
Wow your paint job is way different then mine. I'm sure there are slight variants with the paint jobs but my 3 heads look very consistent.
I see a version of this figure on wish, I'm wondering if you've heard anything about how the quality on that is?

I'm surprised you didn't mention the common issue of the jaws being off-center. They're like that on all the pictures I've seen and on mine as well. I suspect it's a molding issue, the socket for the jaw "joint" must be warped or something.
Also; the jaws are not on a hinge, it's just a peg with a rounded off tip. That's right, it's not even a joint.
The instructions tell you to NOT put the stands on the spikes.
Is there a way to make the ball joints less prone to popping off? The right tail on my Ghidorah drives me bonkers.

I think the whole support stand on the spikes is meant to mean not to put it there or it'll break
I hope Neca makes Ghidorah even if its too late for them.. SH just cant handle their quality issues for the later releases
Chances are Bandai won't but I think in a few years they'll make a SCV of Ghidorah with a gold paint job and bent wings. Probably being overly optimistic but a man can dream.

that's why i personally don't buy SH figures granted they all look amazing and the ghidorah looks insane BUT they're just to expensive for them to be fragile and falling apart every time i try to move it, id rather get xplus

Ugh my patience is killing me
I'm cautiously excited. Even though I agree that the paint being that iffy for a nearly $200 dollar figure is unacceptable, I never care about paint anyhow, so hopefully I won't care. But I really am not sure if I will be able to animate this thing at all, it just looks so clunky, which is saddening to me, as I really thought from the promotional images that the poseability looked great. Hopefully I will be able to worry about that at all though, because I ordered it nearly half a year ago from BBTS and it still hasn't been delivered, so I guess we'll see in a few weeks, or less, hopefully.

Got the figure today. And I was kinda disappointed as you are. However, the heads are much different when it comes to being lose or articulated (the one I have was attached fine I guess), I'm sad no flight stand or Gravity beams (I don't own the original Ghidorahs), I hope the Special Colors can do better and fix that dumb paint.
There probably going to make a special color version and it will be way better
