Nope, bought it for $200 on preorder... still not worth it in the slightest if you ask me, since mine is just sitting on a shelf in pieces collecting dust. For my money, the worst Monsterarts yet.

Wow, props to Bandai, they literally went back and fixed Ghidorah’s wings, tail, and gave him a new paint job. I can’t wait for when it arrives in May

I don’t know why but I always find it very satisfying that Steven disassembles the original SHMA King Ghidorah 2019 figure when he was comparing it to the Special Color Version.

Never had a problem with the original. If anything both versions still have incorrect paint apps on the tail spikes.
The mood was fine, but the original had a terribly inaccurate, plain mustard yellow paint job.

Good review. Appreciate your honesty about this one and its QC. I am waiting on pre-order for it as I missed the first one but I am very excited to have this one. SCV Monsterarts like the old Heisei Ghidorah and the Biollante are among the biggest highlights in my collection, so this one will not be am exception.
Regarding accurate/non-accurate paint, I've always been in the opinion that we never really got to see Ghidorah in his proper color in the movie because of the constant storms, shadows, and particle effects that really stopped us from seeing his true color. The original Monsterarts while more accurate looked terrible in its application and I am not opposed to having a golden version that is more traditional for the character.

Biollante is my favorite shma figure
According to the store page info, they DID update the engineering, which is evident in the strength of the joints. I'm VERY glad that my first official Ghidorah figure has no issues with parts popping off.
There's nothing on any of Bandai's pages about them changing the joints. This is a repaint, the joints are the same. The quality control is just better (read: actually acceptable).

@@StevensToyReviews I saw something on BBTS about it in the product description I thought. Still, stronger joints would equate to updated engineering in my books, even if I was wrong about the post.
Edit: I WAS mistaken, what I saw was "innovative jointing system". I got confused because saying something is "innovative" typically is saying it's new or updated.

God, I really do want this special color version because the gold looks great and I'm glad to hear the joints hold up better, but I cannot justify the price. No new accessories, and I already have the original; I can't justify spending $230+ on a new paint job.

Some things I wish were with this were more pose-able wings or at least a second pair of folded (walking) wings , the Gravity Beams, and perhaps a severed head and mid regeneration head
Damn it looks so good paint wise. I wish they would've made the wings more posable, I've seen the mods, but for the price of this thing they should've just allowed you to put the wings to the ground so he can stand that way. It's the one pose I want him in. Suffice to say I canceled my original pre order of this bad boy and won't buy him until they improve the design/quality control.
Yeah I’m debating on canceling my pre order too because of the price and considering the fact that he really comes with no beam accessories

Monster Zero is the best villain of the Monsterverse likewise the SCV of Ghidorah is the best looking figure ever.
It's better, but I have my og with Custom paint-job, so no need to get this one, even if it's better
So long as you're not handling it every day like we would as children; just posing him, maybe changing it up every so often, and not really bothering him, the support stands are solid enough and the joint issues shouldn't really be a problem so I think this is a sound idea.

Ngl, I prefer the paint of the original more. The one I have was fine, left neck and the tails pop off the easiest, but they aren't to bad and paint is overall consistent

Found the GameStop listing and started a payment plan so I can ration out the $200 price tag.
Thing is, this figure is a massive upgrade over the original, but still not great.
Although, I’ll be spending a bit of extra money on some custom third party upgrade parts (more accurate heads and even alternate folded wings), in addition to getting the whole ensemble painted up by a friend. Really looking to build the ultimate Ghidorah figure.

Not only do I have the figure, but I’m replacing it with the Hiya at some point down the line, and I never bought any third party add ons for that very reason.
Oh and also because Whalezilla turned out to be a piece of human shit but that’s an entirely different discussion.

@@Arfy41 Ideally, you'd wann wait for hiya toys to do it. They did their Monsterverse line of figures, and they're doing a Heisei line of figures too. They do everything better then SH, trust me.
I actually got two of these figure and there was nothing wrong so now I have a big diorama of the Boston final battle and I have the volcano scene. I really liked this figure and was very excited when I heard of this so I immediately preordered on and then waited for a while to get another but very great figure has not fallen apart and is an awesome figure to have thank you for the video
See I voted to skip this release initially because I have the original. I thought it was going to be the same thing with different paint my 2019. I got lucky the articulation is fine and nothing pops off my issues are the wings wanting to fall off at the slightest bump is this one more sturdy where the wings are concerned I'm watching the video it seems they are. I just want to be absolutely sure before I change my mind and commit to buying this lol.
If u look closely at the tail spikes u can see building fragments on the tail :D
I missed out on the original version so I’m probably going to have to get this one just to fill in the gap don’t really like it as a true version

I just picked up the king and he had a bad joint at the base of his middle neck. Carefully heat gunned and stuck it on while it was hot and it's holding firm. He was a bit frustrating to set up perfectly on the stands but once I got him in position, it looks amazing. I have a battle seen with the King and Mechagodzilla, facing Godzilla Ultima, Hiya Exquisite Godzilla and NECA Biollante Godzilla. 👌✊️

According to some rumors, there was at one point a special color version Mothra and Rodan 2019 set, but was cancelled for some reason

Ok even though this repaint is no where near the price as the original it’s still expensive and isn’t really for physical use, nor efor posing so I wouldn’t recommend grabbing all three necks and yanking it until it all breaks cause it’s fragile, even though they can fix
I like the scv but it’s paint job on the neck with that silver cindive makes me float away from it

I have a feeling that The final battle mechagodzilla is next lads! I hope they add the tail drill, thrusters and fix the inaccurate throat lol. It kinda feels bad for me cuz I damaged the pair of open hands while switching it to the pair of close hands. I wonder if I can get a replacement parts from bluefin lol.
Mechagodzilla just released around a month ago for the US, so it is doubtful that an SCV is next, plus the OG release is a Bandai Premium Web Shop Exclusive, so that decreases the chances of a new version being revealed

I sold my 2019 Ghidorah (too late to make a profit, but it was fine) to help fund this one and while there’s obviously no good action figure alternative to-scale, the long shipping delay gives me time to wonder if I even need it! It’ll be the only hole next to all the other Monsterverse SHMA though.

Hm. I trust your opinion, I have been watching your videos for about 6 years now and I normally do trust your opinions. But I just don't think this figure does enough for me. I think the fundamental design for the original figure is weak, and it cannot rely on itself as a figure, needing way too many support stands for me to consider it a fun time to pose. While yes, the much more solid joints and better painting seem superior, I am not gonna waste more money on a sculpt I already have and hate. Even with that said, despite Monsterarts always having had a track record for low accuracy, the new paint still isn't accurate. In the film he was somewhat of a combination of both the versions we got, a dark gold with accents of green in some lighting/spots. I think if they really wanted to do an accurate sculpt they could have, but instead they just addressed issues people had with the original and didn't push their goals beyond that. That is fine I guess, I am glad people who hated those issues are pleased, but I would have preferred waiting a few more years to get an entirely new and more accurate sculpt that wasn't so heavy and hard to handle. I get that is a tall order, but if it can't be fulfilled, I really don't see the point in having a KotM Ghidorah figure at all, especially considering I have the first release and I don't see the point in owning that aside from for resale value someday..
I can not set mine up. the wings are so Incredibly heavy, the stands they give you are not even close to the correct weight needed to hold this thing up. the pelvis stand is too tall and the tail keeps falling off. I don't know how he got this thing to stand up without any support
Am not sure is Bandai trully Painted the Special Edition with Real Molting Gold Paint or it's just Ordinary Paint not Real Gold. Since the Price is Amaze

If you have enough for MKG, I would say it's a great figure! But it sounds like you have about $300. That can get you Gigan and Godzilla 1972 just announced. If you're careful, that's a nice set, just don't break Gigan. However, you might find MKG on a deal and save some money.

I just recently purchased this figure from Bluefin on Amazon and I love everything about it. Except on my copy the middle head keeps falling off from the base of the neck. I tried heating the base of the neck with a hair dryer then reattaching, which soft of worked. Buyt after awhile it ended up falling off again after trying to pose the middle head. Any ideas on how to possible fix this issue I am having with my figure?
I think if you use warm water you can try to put it back. But, if I was you I would have wait for the Hiya one that seems to be infinity times better than the shMA

By the size being inaccurate, do you mean that it is too small?
Ghidorah is too big compared to the other Monsterarts. His heads almost double the size of Godzilla’s, which isn’t right if you look closely when they are next to eachother on screen. Even rodan is supposed to look evenly sized with Ghidorah, while the Monsterarts makes it look tiny

Anyone know of any good Ghidorah beams? It's difficult to find any long somewhat straight yellow lightning beams.
I know you have videos on effect parts but I don't remember seeing any that would really work but I could be wrong.
If you're good with DIY, straws or thinner rods with hot glue and paints could make good beams, although you would have to add parts to make it compatible with stands

Yeah, that original one was so bad and unfinished, I just ended up re-painting it myself. (Made much easier by the fact he comes apart so easily ;-) ) Should have just waited for the special color version. Thanks for that one, Bandai. :(
Glad I never got the original p.o.s, I'm very tempted to grab this one (hopefully a 3rd party will make some wing walking parts)
Update: still waiting for bbts to get theirs in, but when I did order it, I accidentally also got godzilla Ultima (I wound up keeping it)

If only they go back to ghidorah and release one with foldable wings, tbh after hearing about the team making Godzilla minus one figure(they are trying new features that no other figures have had and did a really good job) could redo the model for ghidorah and try to make him more movie accurate

I never had an issue with the original and actually like the look of it overall more. I dry brushed mine with some gold and I actually really don't like the paint on this one, the silver is bad and the intense amount of gold doesn't do anything for me
What the hell do I do with the first one????!!! LOL Maybe repaint it someday I guess.
