Cheers mate 👍 yep all the new Toyota's you have to pick up from the back now unfortunately. They are getting too smart for their own good lol. At least you know you won't have any issues picking up from the back. If you pick up from the brake pedal it interferes with Toyota safety sense & you get codes

Hi I’m putting one of these red arc in my truck which is a JMC N800 a Chinese truck which currently has a Hayman Reece controller which I’m not happy with. My truck is used to tow my 5th wheeler. There is a distance of approximately 6mt to the trailer plug what size wire would you recommend from the battery to the controller wiring and then from the wiring harness to the trailer plug.
I had one of the older red arc in my old tug and absolutely loved it. The truck is very basic the battery is about 3mt from where I’ll be putting the unit.

So when I install the tow pro pack v3 or the elite ? There’s the old rule avoid running excess power lengths around engine bay ? And avoid power wiring from excess heat ?
So my main fire wall grommet if seriously full -
    Uhf antenna cord
UHF power and earth - crank battery
Aux Power cords x3(includes Anderson plug) from dual battery
Bull bar light bat switch wiring
Rear work lights switch wiring .
So only other grommet left is the one on the right side .
Which way would u run the power ? Straight across fire wall below windscreen or do a whole lap around engine bay ?
Can these connect to the Aux / 2nd battery or needs to be crank battery for reliability and redarc’s requirements (as per instructions and for warranty ?

Is there any logic as to why Redarc would use black for positive and white for ground? I'm picturing myself (or the next owner) several years down the road looking at these wires thinking it's wired incorrectly. Maybe all brake controllers do this, this will be my first foray into trailer brake controllers, but why not just use the same color standard as everything else? I feel bad for the poor guy that doesn't read the instructions and wires this up like literally any other 12V accessory they've thrown on their rig!

    • @Campingdownunder
      @Campingdownunder  2 года назад +1

Lol yes it is strange but they do have a tag on the positive wire stating its positive so you can't mix it up. I guess that wanted to make the brake switch wire red as it's still a positive input

All Trailer wiring standards use White for Ground and Red for Brake Lamps. Blue is predominately Electric Brakes, depending on regions.
AS-2513 dictates that Black is for Reverse Lamps, but it is commonly used for Auxiliary power in international markets.

@@Campingdownunder Trailer Brakes draw power from this wire too. RedArc recommend a minimum 3mm² for supply power and Trailer brake power. This equates to a little bit over 5mm diameter cable, depending on the quality of cable. I use Narva 5816-xxBE, which has a cross section of 4.58mm² because 5815-xxBE only has a cross section of 2.90mm².
@CRUISEMASTER have a great video showing how important the correct cable is important for working electric brakesruclips.net/video/8dt11D0am6Q/видео.html, especially on heavy trailers with multiple axles.
It is worth noting that Narva's range of 7-core trailer wiring only has one product that is compliant with AS-2513; Earth should be no less than 2.5mm² (just over 4mm in diameter). 5876-xxTC is overkill, but 5874-xxTC only has 1.85mm², which doesn't provide a compliant Earth.
That said, most trailers will not pull that much power, even with Brakes, Tail, Hazards and electric brakes, unless the manufacturer does something stupid like try to run a fridge through the 7-pin.
