Yes! You will not be disappointed in this tractor. Wild amounts of power. Infact, I pulled a stuck F450 out a swampy field today that was stuck up to its axels. Check out if it had a counter weight on it and if the counter weight was suspended in a locked position or just always lifted with the 3 point hitch, because unless it was locked up, it is a good way to wear out the seals and hydraulic pump in those old rigs. Let me know if you end up getting it.
Thank you! Wow sounds like a WORKHORSE!!! He has weights on the wheels and the weights come with it. He says oil pressure is good, everything works says the loader works well. Tires Good, Oh and has power steering. Only negatives he mentions are smokes a little and left rear rim needs to be replaced as rusted through in one spot. Wants $2,800.00 for it. Thank you for the advice!
Thank you! My goodness was it tiring! When I checked out the job in the first place, I didn't look too closely at the sheer volume of wood involved in the tree. Each stump had 12 tops. Thanks a lot!
Thank you very much! That one log probably has 1500 feet in it! I am digging that kiln of yours. That will be so nice to have dry lumber. It'll cook in there!
Long before the term prepper my father told me. Get a farm and be self sustainable because within the next 30 years you are going to be faced with a collapse. He went on to say these countries can't keep spending more money then they are making and not expect to end up in trouble. This was just about 30 years ago. At the time I had a good job in the city and kind of dismissed what he said. I wish he was alive today to tell him that he was bang on. Recently retired and I started homesteading/logging with the goal of self reliant. My initiatives which can be seen on my channel.
That logging winch is an amazing bit of machinery but it pales in comparison to your editing. I may have to borrow your technique of running real-time audio under sped-up film. what an awesome effect!
This is the kind of comment that makes the endless hours in front of the screen totally worth it! Thank you so much. Yes, please! I highly encourage anyone to use whatever style things they see or hear in my videos. I since I got that Rode mic, I have found that the quality of the audio I am capturing is great, and it seems a shame to buzz it away in a blur. I detach the audio and scan through looking for appropriate clips that I think might work, and often layer them over one another. Birds and ambient and whatnot. Thanks again.
Yes! I agree, and it would be some fine smelling mulch. I am going to load those two little piles into a trailer and haul it up to the compost in a couple trips. Thanks for the comment.
@@BusHuxley Bus, I believe the 134 cu. in. engine in a 6XX Ford gas tractor is rated at 34 HP, and the 172 cu. in. engine in a 8XX Ford gas tractor is rated at either 42 or 44, depending on the size of the carb (a bigger carb was fitted to the 8X1 than the 8X0). Is your tractor modified to produce more power?
Will! That was quite a job of work, but once I set to doing it, I was uneasy until it was done. Which, it isn't quite yet! That massive log is still out there and I was waiting for a friend and his front end loader to put it on my car trailer and take it to some mill that can handle wood that large. I have a couple options. And of course it'll be here, all parts of it. Thanks for the comment. Glad to see you.
Bus,try this.Place lateral skids under the log.Sever the trunk at the base beginning with five eighths top cut and finishing with bottom cut to meet. With a bar larger than half the diameter do a ripping cut longitudinally.Flip log on skids with tractor and repeat ripping cut on top.Halved log will still be good for milling and will be easier to handle. You've probably considered this but that's how I used to do it.cheers.
I've been bush hogging around that monster for the last decade and a half, and I guess that was enough to knock it down. I thought you would enjoy this one.
Hey! I am out in Wyoming visiting our girls and stumbled on this video. That was fun, thanks!
Those old tractors are great. Have a awesome weekend. 👍
Thanks a lot! You too.
Great older tractor! Good video skills too!
Thanks a lot! It is a stalwart old ox.
Love the old tractor logging!
Thanks! Sometimes I wish I had a bigger rig or even a skidder but the versatility of this old rig makes the extra time completely worth it.
Which model 601 series is your Ford tractor? I am looking at a 641 that has a loader on it already.
Never mind I see it at the end, 57 641!!! Cool!

Looks like a great old tractor!
A beast!
That brought back some memories.Jumping on and off the tractor all day is tiring in itself.I like the way you attacked the job, ie the sequence.

Way to workout the old tractor winch, and chainsaws, you have a good system going
Excellent video! And what a bunch of great lumber! Really like some of your camera angles on the tractor. Well done!

What lumber? He just hauled it in the woods and wasted it all.

Nice job 👍
Thanks
That's neat to have a winch on it
Always impressed by your skills. Thanks.
Well thank you very much! The skill with this was just plowing through the seemingly endless tops!

NICE JOB !
fundsfordad Thank you very much.
the exhaust pipe changed, really awesome video though
Thanks!
I have the same tractor. 58 model . Good video . Thank you.
Amazing engineering and design. Made to last and to keep working with little maintenance 60 years later. Thanks a lot.
Good morning Bus! It takes a lot of sweat equity to clean up blow down trees. Take care.
Man alive! That tree had about 20 trees in it! So much sweat.
Good morning
Top notch👍👍 If anything a wood chipper to do the rest of the clean up. Nicely done👍

well done!
Thank you very much!
Bus Huxley - When I grow up I wanna be just like you!
Ha! Thats awful kind of you to say!
I see your exhaust pipe grew by the end of the video 😁
Chad Rhode Good eye mate! Yeah, the short one was good when blasting through the underbrush but the fumes were strong. Thanks for the comment.
Hey how did you make that winch on back of your tractor
Why do you put excellent material/firewood out to rot back in the forest ? Compost for a future planned field ?
Compost indeed.
Nice !!!!
Thanks!
That was very enjoyable! Pretty sweet tractor, what year is yours? Mines a 59. Be Well
Thanks a lot! It is a sweet tractor. 1957! Just passed 60 last year and worked insanely hard for most of the year. What is your 59? 600 series or 800?
How old is the Farmi? Pto winch right? Gas tractor? Nice work!
Yes, the frame is ten years old and the tractor was 60. Gas indeed, 50 horse. A beast. That was a lot of work. .
Bus Huxley I bet a lot of work? You’re probably happy it turned out so well! Is the Farmi reliable? Cable tangles?
@@davekana8388 Immensely reliable. Amazingly powerful and strong. Very well made.
Bus Huxley 💪💪💪

Gosh you work hard. Did you salvage any lumber for the mill? Will we get to see? :D

How much horse power does your tractor have
50
I do a lot of small scale logging myself as can be seen on my channel. I have a kabota tractor and the same winch as you.
Nice! That is good stuff you have there!
There’s poison ivy all around that tree! Got nailed with it in the late 80s or so. Hope you’re immune, or it’s gone...

Dont you just hate it when the saw gets stuck? Though I have to say thats a nice brush pile for wabbits
Yes! I try to avoid it as much as possible but sometimes it happens. Wabbits must be loving that, and woodchucks and squirrels and foxes.
Man I love this life. Their isn’t no socialist going to take that away
