i honestly think abbey road works as the perfect ending to the beatles, especially with the end at the tail end of the b side medley. the end was the first and last time ringo ever had a drum solo, it was the first and last time john, paul, and george all had guitar solos at the same time, it endlessly repeats "love you" as a callback to the beatles countless songs about love, and i dont think the beatles couldve gone out on a higher note than "and in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."
It is brilliant, but what about Her Majesty, that's what ends Abbey Road, and I'm glad, because as McCartney said it was all a bit dramatic and serious, so he decided to put Her Majesty at the end to leave on a happy note. 😊✌️
No, that is not the story that I've heard. There was one person that put together the master before it went into pressing. He said he took the decision to put "Her Majesty" as the very last little ditty as some kind of surprise at the very end of the album - as he thought that little song deserved to be heard. But it was not at all intended for the album - so he kind of hid it at the end. You have to wait for it for several seconds before it suddenly pops up at the uttermost end. Paul McCartney once did a performance with the Queen present - and he did "Her Majesty." Said "Sorry, I just couldn't help it" !
Sorry to disagree with some other fans but I just didn't like Her Majesty ending the Abbey Road album. I thought The End was the most perfect way to finish the Beatles journey. When the piano is suddenly there on its own and then those beautiful harmonies that only the Beatles can do kicks in, oh my, what a way for a band to finish. Then you have those words "and in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make". It's brought a tear to my eye even now after all these years. I guess thats the Beatles for you.
I have to compliment you on your Beatles videos! I've read tons of books about the Beatles. Your research is arguably the best I've run across. The first video of yours I watched was the one about Pete Best. I read Pete Best's autobiography, watched interviews with him, and wondered why he was sacked from the Beatles. When you played a bit of his his drumming from the audition tracks the Beatles recorded, against a later version of the same Beatles song, it showed the inconsistencies in his drumming. No other Beatles researcher I know had done that. Thanks for clearing that up for me, and for your outstanding research!
When I was younger, so much younger than today, (in 1970) I'd fantasize like this, making playlists, but the truth is, Abbey Road was the last Beatles album. And that's reality.
I just put one of these together myself. It's titled, "The Beatles - Today and Tomorrow". Got the idea from "Yesterday and Today". Wish I could post a picture of the cover. Here's the track list: 1. Maybe I'm Amazed 2. Remember 3. All Things Must Pass 4. Teddy Boy 5. Loser's Lounge 6. Crippled Inside 1. Beware Of Darkness 2. How 3. Gimme Some Truth 4. Every Night 5. Oo You 6. Imagine
Maybe I´m Amazed would have to be on every selection imho - but I´ve never liked Teddy Boy (nor did the other Beatles)! Loser´s Lounge is a cover written by Bobby Pierce, so why not It Don´t Come Easy by Ringo and George?
We’ve all been making last Beatles albums since 1970…..I made my first one on cassette in 1971…..There are many compilations you can make. I just love the fact that people are still doing it 50 years later……
You know, this is actually a great idea for an album. If the record companies would agree, they could put a handful of each solo Beatles songs from 70, 71 onto one album. Why not? I bet it would sell. I even like your idea for the artwork.
It actually was done in 1972 as a TV only sale album called "Alpha Omega" where some of the best solo songs were included on it. There were actually three volumes of that LP done and it was the reason Apple released the 1962-1966 and 1967-1970 Greatest Hits LP's in 1973.
Lots of fun. I listened to the album on spotify. I could picture uncle Albert as the closing song on side one. Thanks for the video and spotify song list!!
Yabbut George was the songwriter so it still comes down to that. Plus, and this is a bit of a stretch, with the whole band working on it, possibly somebody might have noticed the similarity and coaxed him to change it up.
Paul's "contributions" to Last Album could have used John's guitar and lower harmonies, and My Sweet Lord might have been been a stronger song with John and Paul singing the "hallelujah" harmonies.
I always thought the song Band on The Run with the Beatles collaborating and building it, along with the engineering and production team contribution, would have made this a classically Beatles tune. Probably would have been the approximately the same but would have had that Beatles treatment to it and could have been really interesting.
Im a retired guy but I remember when I was 14 and that moment in April 970 in western England when I heard the news they called it quits. I was riding in a bus on the motorway when I heard the news.
I actually was born before then. You'll find It Don't Come Easy on the preceding _Album That Never Was_ "Beatles '70" right here: ruclips.net/video/E-KXTp6WDI0/видео.html
Side A. 1.My sweet lord 2.Ram On 3.Jealous Guy 4.Love 5.It don't come easy 6.Maybe I'm amazed 7.Awaiting on you all Side B 1.Instant Karma 2.Another Day 3.What is Life 4.Imagine 5.Dear Boy 6.Everynight 7.Remember extra track 8.Junk
From John: Imagine, Crippled Inside, Oh Yoko, Gimme Some Truth From Paul: Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey, Another Day, Too Many People, Smile Away From George: My Sweet Lord, What Is Life, Isn't It A Pity From Ringo: It Don't Come Easy
What a fantastic concept! A few of these songs are unknown to me, but I'm grateful that historians like you can rummage through the closets of time and still deliver fresh, fashionable musical images.
1 Imagine 2 Uncle Albert /Admiral Halsey 3 All things must pass 4 Maybe I'm amazed 5 Working Class Hero 6 My sweet lord 7 Back seat of my car 1 Instant Karma 2 Beware of darkness 3 Jealous guy 4 It don"t come easy 5 Dear boy 6 Oh my love 7 heart of the country
The final album that never was would have to be a double album! side 1 It Don't Come Easy Imagine Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey Wah Wah Too Many People Apple Scruffs side 2 Gimme Some Truth What Is Life Heart Of The Country Beware Of Darkness Smile Away Working Class Hero side 3 Monkberry Moon Delight Awaiting On You All Ram On Instant Karma Bangladesh Back Seat Of My Car side 4 My Sweet Lord Maybe I'm Amazed Isn't It A Pity Give Peace A Chance All Things Must Pass Photograph
For the final album , you need to include songs from the ringo album, like photograph and I'm the greatest being as they are beatles collaborations indirectly.
Watching your series of albums that never were, one song I wish had been written much earlier is Photograph. It would have been the well-anticipated, well-deserved collaboration between George and Ringo that could have complimented the Lennon and McCartney part ership splendidly. And it would have been a great closing number for their last album, and their career.
This is the 1971 Beatles album I made many years ago. Side One: Imagine Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey Deep Blue Gimme Some Truth All Things Must Pass Smile Away (I re-imagine this one with Ringo as the lead singer - and the entire group having a blast with this track) Side Two: Oh My Love Too Many People Let It Down (acoustic demo version - which is so beautiful) Jealous Guy Dear Boy It's So Hard Isn't It A Pity I could hardly believe that you had the exact same 3 songs starting your LP as mine - and the same song ending it. Amazing coincidence. My only real criticism of your selections - is "Blindman". How could you possibly choose that over "Back Off Boogaloo"??? "Back Off Boogaloo" is my all time favorite Ringo solo track. I absolutely LOVE the drums that open the track - and Harrison's guitar play is stellar. I didn't use "Boogaloo" for my 1971 solo Beatles LP... because I had it on the 1972 solo Beatles album.
I've never had some one have the first 3 songs the same as mine! As for Back Off Boogaloo, I've only been luke warm on it. Notice I added plenty of non-hits for this album the the preceding Album That Never Was, Beatles '70 (ruclips.net/video/E-KXTp6WDI0/видео.html) to create a more realistic Album. I actually really like Blindman. I've created several Albums That Never Were which have not been released yet so there that's why some seemingly obvious songs do not appear. Thanks for the comment!
I imagine a lot of us did this and Early on I made a lot of Beatle songs on 8 track or cassette but in 1997 from the cd's I downloaded the songs on my computer and each folder was a different album so I could play whatever I liked and so on. worked great. and also combined some solo work as you did.
The ‘Albums That Never Were’ covers are great! I have a love/hate relationship with the unsophisticated design of The Beatles American releases. Out of interest, how did you put the printed versions together?
These were expensive and time consuming. I deal with a lot of printers in my line of work so after I had the designs completed, I purchased blank album covers and assembled them. A big pain in the ass, but I love the final result.
I just think at that time you wouldn't get neither George playing on a song having "and no religion too" nor John participating in My Sweet Lord or Awaiting at You All. Nevertheless a fine fantasy and thank you!
Here's mine, and it's a double album. Disc1 side 1 1, Imagine 2,What is Life? 3, Dear Boy 4, Cold Turkey 5, Jealous Guy 6, Another Day 7, all Things Must Pass Side2 8, Maybe I'm amazed 9, I'd Have You Anytime 10, Crippled Inside 11, Not Guilty 12, Junk (Ringo vocals) 13, Remember 14, Love Disc2 side 1 1, Too Many People 2, Gimme Some Truth 3, Let it Roll, 4, It's So Hard 5,Every Night 6, Ram on (Ringo vocals) 7, Instant Karma! side 2 8, Apple Scruffs 9,Oh my Love 10, Uncle Abert/Admiral Halsey 11, Back Seat of My Car 12, Palace of the King of the Birds
This was another fun "what if experiment". I liked your choices. Very commercial. I was thinking more on the lines of something a little bit more combative. And I also gave Ringo his due with three songs. This is a 50 minute set. 24 and 26 minutes respectively which is about as long as you want to go for each side of a vinyl record before the fidelity is really compromised. SIDE 1 Back Off Boogaloo Gimme Some Truth Deep Blue Maybe I’m Amazed Jealous Guy Wah Wah SIDE 2 It Don’t Come Easy Another Day How Do You Sleep Too Many People Isn’t It A Pity Early 1970
@@popgoesthe60s52 I figured you'd get it. Would be interesting to do a Beatle related album from 1974. Harrison = Splinter / Dark Horse, Ringo = Goodnight Vienna / Nilsson Dracula, McCartney = McGear, / Band On The Run, Lennon = Nilsson-Pussycats / Walls And Bridges...
George’s parents were not dying at the same time. George’s mother died in 1970, and his father died in 1978. It was only his mother who was dying in the hospital when he wrote the song deep blue
I love that you caught the Imagine/Uncle Albert transition. I made my own four albums through 1974 and that combo is one of the most striking. Great picks! - mine diverged a bit, but I think you make a good case for yours. Only disagreement is that I think Too Many People and Back Seat of My Car are by far the stronger Ram contributions. (Oh Woman, Oh Why can stay though!)
Hi, thanks for this suggestion of a 1970/71 Beatles LP, it´s one I´ve actually thought about for several years ... having come up with my own solution - and interestingly with a similar division of 4+4+4+1 (or 2, depending on the running time). Here is my „Last Beatles-LP“: "What Is Life" (Harrison) - 4:22 "Another Day" (Paul & Linda McCartney) - 3:42 "Instant Karma!" (Lennon) - 3:35 „It don´t come easy“ (Starkey/Harrison) - 3:02 "Imagine" (Lennon) - 3:01 "Every Night" (Paul McCartney) - 2:31 "Beware of Darkness" (Harrison) - 3:48 24:01 "Maybe I'm Amazed" (Paul McCartney) - 3:53 "Jealous Guy"(Lennon) - 4:14 "Run of the Mill" (Harrison) - 2:49 - or "All Things Must Pass" - 3:44 "Dear Boy" (Paul & Linda McCartney) - 2:12 "Gimme Some Truth" (Lennon) - 3:16 "Isn't It a Pity (Version One)" (Harrison) - 7:10 23:34 / 24:29 total 47:35 / 48:30 Alternative instead of Instant Karma: Give Peace A Chance - it would be very interesting what The Beatles would have made out of this simple sing-along ... maybe something similar to All You Need Is Love. In my opinion several songs on my list are stronger than the ones you suggested, especially Beware Of Darkness and Maybe I´m amazed (one of best Paul´s songs ever). I omitted My Sweet Lord because of the later legal issues. Only 13 songs because the running time is already way over 45 minutes. Of course it was never going to happen. It´s definitely a pity. Cheers.
this is great! i've just found your channel so you may have already covered it, but if not, could you do a video on how you make these albums that never were from start to finish? subscribed!
@5:45--Geo. Harrison was proven guilty of having plagiarized "He's So Fine," by the Chiffons for use in "My Sweet Lord." It seems a stretch especially since the latter tune has a bridge that is radically different from the former.
@@2wayplebney "Spiritual" tunes, both. Cf. Lennon with "Come Together" and Chuck Berry's "You Can't Catch Me." Hopefully, everyone got paid in the end.
@@professorhamamoto George bought the song publisher that owned "He's So Fine", and John agreed to feature Chuck's songs on the Rock and Roll album, so Chuck got royalties.
Ha! I made these mix tapes on cassettes way back in the 80's...always a fun excursive. Heck I made a couple of em' on cd a few years back. Also another worthy "what if" is CSN&Y. I've got 3 or 4 versions of the record after deja Vu.
For Beatles last album I would put these songs on side one: Come Together Something Maxwell's Silver Hammer Oh! Darling Octopus's Garden" I Want You (She's So Heavy) Side two I would start up with Here Comes the Sun Then I would do some kind of medley with the following songs Here Comes the Sun Because You Never Give Me Your Money Sun King Mean Mr. Mustard Polythene Pam She Came In Through the Bathroom Window Golden Slumbers Carry That Weight The End Maybe it would be fun to stick a hidden track in the in, maybe Her Majesty could be used for that. For the album cover I would just have them go outside Abbey Road studio and take a picture at the crossing.
I did this in the early Nineties. I made a tape (with a self-painted sleeve) with my favourite Songs of McCartney, Lennon & Harrison of the early post-Beatles era and called it a Beatles Album. I bet I am not the only one who ever did this..
Yes, you are one of many who enjoyed making mix tapes/playlists like. Surprisingly George Harrison did this in the early 70s as well - he made a comp of solo Beatles songs.
Here's a playlist I really like and feel flows well. Side-note I would pick Instant Karma b/w It Don't Come Easy as a stand-alone single three months before the album. Killer John single and Ringo, with George's help, gets his first b-side! The writing of all of these songs on the album dates from 1970 or earlier, in some cases, like Oh My Love and the music for Jealous Guy, as early as '68. The album clocks in at 41 minutes, perfect for a single LP. On Spotify I use the storybook/folktale looking "Dolls House" painting that was in consideration for the White Album cover but not used. This, to me, would have been a great "next Beatles album" in fall or winter of 1970, and with tracks like All Things Must Pass and the final track being Love, I think it could have stood as a fitting last album for the band as well. Side A 1. What is Life 2. Maybe I'm Amazed 3. Oh My Love 4. Ram On (reprise - as a fun interlude to lighten the mood) 5. Gimme Some Truth 6. All Things Must Pass Side B 7. Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey 8. Jealous Guy 9. Let it Down 10. Back Seat of My Car 11. Love
Again a strong record. I think I’d swap Uncle Albert for Too many people and Deep Blue for Art of dying. That should rock it up sufficiently I wouldn’t touch side two... well done sir :)
Well done! Quite a few RUclipsrs have done their own imaginary versions, most with 14 tracks.. I’m curious as to why all have neglected selecting singles to go along with the Albums..Picking A side “hits” and B side deeper cuts would certainly change available tracks for proposed LP’s, yes? Cheers🍏☮️❤️
I really enjoyed this gentleman's "Albums That Never Were" series. I have only watch two, but the whole thing was very entertaining. "Beatles '70" was well put together and very, very good, and "The Beatles Last Album," I thought was brilliant. This is a fun thing to do for a Beatle fan! Almost every single song that the guy picked, I would have picked too. His tastes and mine are very, very close except I have five changes. I would nix "Eat at Home," "Cold Turkey," "What is Life," "Heart of the Country," and "Awaiting on You" and instead I would have included "Crippled Inside" (great piano), "Teddy Boy," "Give Ireland Back to the Irish," "I Live for You," and "The Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp." Of course, every Beatle fan has his or her favorite early Beatle solo works, and that's the way it naturally should be. I was surprise by "Blindman!" One of the great things when Beatle fans "talk" is that we get each other enthused to go back home and listen to a song that we may have not played in a while. I have forgotten what "Blindman" even sounds like because it is a flip side, but I know that I have it somewhere. (Thank you.) Someone reading this may want to play the understated but absolutely brilliant "Deep Blue" and the country-flavored "I Live for You." Both tunes are "worth their weight in gold" to me. Sir, thank you for putting these videos together. They are a lot of fun. Ran Charles Collins
Thank you for the warm comment, Mr. Collins. This has always been a fun exercise and I always enjoy seeing everybody's selections. There are never two alike! I love designing the covers! More to come.
Had a stab at this a few years ago but found it difficult, I'm not a big solo McCartney fan so was short on listening though I had heard most of his solo catalogue, Ringo I had totally failed on... So here's another stab at it after re listening to McCartney and Ringo... My preposition for this two album set is the Beatles took a break and came back to the studio in '71 having found peace with each other and with a wealth of material... I could not decide on a title so just titled them 'Vol: 1' & 'Vol: 2'... SIDE: 1 1 Imagine … Lennon 2 What Is Life … Harrison 3 That Would Be Something … McCartney 4 Crippled Inside … Lennon 5 Another Day … McCartney 6 Love … Lennon 7 Ringo Star … I'm The Greatest VOL:1 SIDE: 2 1 Cold Turkey … Lennon 2 Junk … McCartney 3 Loser's Lounge … Ringo 4 Woman Don’t You Cry For Me … Harrison (demo 69-70) 5 Smile Away … McCartney 6 Beware Of Darkness … Harrison 7 Instant Karma … Lennon SIDE: 1 1 Maybe I’m Amazed … McCartney 2 Apple Scruffs … Harrison 3 It Don’t Come Easy … Ringo Starr 4 Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey … McCartney 5 Jealous Guy … Lennon 6 Eat At Home … McCartney 7 Mother … Lennon VOL:2 SIDE: 2 1 Working Class Hero … Lennon 2 Back Seat Of My Car … McCartney 3 George Harrison … Run Of The Mill 4 Oh My Love … Lennon 5 Every Night … McCartney 6 Back Off Boogaloo … Ringo 7 All Things Must Pass … Harrison Uncredited Track (plays after a short silence)… My Mummy’s Dead ... Lennon Acoustic
Here is my take on a "Beatles '73" album so the 4 John/4 Paul/4 George/2 Ringo mix was made from songs that were released by 1973. All are top songs on Spotify and not necessarily "personal favorites." I listen to this playlist trying to imagine the songs with all four Beatles involved. BEATLES ‘73 SIDE ONE Baby, I’m Amazed Instant Karma (We All Shine On) Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth) Every Night Jealous Guy Photograph Isn’t It a Pity SIDE TWO Jet What is Life It Don’t Come Easy Oh, My Love My Love All Things Must Pass Imagine
I did something like this too a Few Months ago. I did 4 albums, I kept the Beatles going until 1974, because after that John decides to withraw from music to raise Sean. Although they did reunite for one final album in 1980, but then John was shot, and that was the end. I’m still thinking of doing a posthumus album with Milk & Honey, Tug of War and Somewhere in England featuring Free as a Bird and Real Love, but didnt get to it yet.
Beatles - Isolation (1970) Side One: Mother Every Night All Things Must Pass Working Class Hero Junk Isolation Isn’t It a Pity? - Version 2 Side two: Coochy Coochy What is Life? Love Teddy Boy Let It Down Maybe I’m Amazed It’s a pretty mellow album, with lots of acoustics and not many fast songs, a kind of self-reflectory period for all the members. It kind of works as a concept, however I’m not completely satisfied how John is kind of missing from the second side. The main problem was that I tried to not use songs that were released as Singles, and we had too many wonderful Harrisongs to choose from, and not nearly enough Beatle worthy rockers from John and Paul’s outing. I made a double album version too with singles and What’s New Mary Jane and Not Guilty being used, but i dont think they wouldve wanted to do another double record so soon after the White Album. I’m Open to suggestions.
Beatles - Truth (1971) Side One: Imagine Too Many People Jealous Guy It Don’t Come Easy Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey Bangla Desh Side Two Gimme Some Truth Heart of the Country How Do You Sleep? How? Deep Blue The Back Seat of My Car This was a much easier album to create. We’re back to having 2 George Songs, as George wasnt very active in ‘71, as he was preoccupied with the Concert for Bangladesh, so I had to use the two Single-songs. This allowed me to use a lot more Lennon-McCartney songs which was actually good, because Imagine and Ram are a Treasure trove of their best individual works. The only problem I encountered was How Do You Sleep?, as it refers to the breakup and heavily targers Macca. But it is also an amazing song, and George has his instantly recognisable playing on it, so it sounds very Beatly, so I finally decided to include it anyway. It’s not new for the Beatles to be self-referential. I think this one flows and sounds pretty well, except for Bangla Desh, which still pretty much has the same WOS treatment of Spector.
I also made an album out of 1972, but I got to be Honest, it doesnt really work. George was completely absent, Sometime in New York and Wild Life are not really Lennon-McCartney’s finest works, although Macca’s cover of Love is Strang, Hi Hi Hi and C Moon would’ve been great additions, ultimately it would not be a Cohesive and Beatley enough collection of songs.
Beatles - Material World (1973) Side one: Live and Let Die Mind Games Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth) My Love Out of the Blue Sue Me, Sue You Blues Side two Photograph I Know (I Know) Helen Wheels Don’t Let Me Wait Too Long Meat City Country Dreamer Living in the Material World Finally this again was pretty straight-forward. There are plenty of rockers, self-reflective pieces, we have four songs from John-Paul-George and one song from Ringo, as the good lord would’ve intended if he would’ve been kinder. I’m very satisfied with this one.
Beatles - Band on the Run (1974) Side one: Band on the Run Goodnight Vienna Whatever Gets You Through the Night So Sad Jet What You Got Side two: Ding Dong, Ding Dong Bluebird #9 Dream Dark Horse Steel and Glass Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five Okay, so this, their final 70s outing was another pretty straightforward one, except for a few things. First of all Band on the Run is too good an album. I really wanted to include Let Me Roll It on the record, because I think Lennon would’ve adored it, but I just had to drop it for Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five, because it’s the perfect finale for the album, especially with that reprise of Band on the Run as the runout groove. I could’ve dropped one of George’s song in favour of it, (especially because of his Hoarse Voice), but even this way I could only include 3 from George because we already reached the 49 minutes mark, which is too long for an LP. But even this way I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out.
man...i'm sure glad you're doing this...i thought i was the only one...lol here's another CD i did for a "Beatles" album consisting their solo tunes, post-Beatles (in a much wider period range)..that includes a what if...Paul and The Beatles and not Wings who was asked to do the theme song for the James Bond flick, Live and Let Die. But, for this, I have to exclude songs that came out after John's death. Beatles: Four in 1 1. (Just Like) Starting Over 2. Live and Let Die 3. Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth) 4. No No Song 5. Whatever Gets You Thru the Night 6. Silly Love Song 7. Woman 8. You're Sixteen 9. Watching the Wheels 10. Bangla-Desh 11. Goodnight Tonight 12. Mind Games 13. Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley 14. Wah-Wah 15. Every Night 16. God Please let me know what you think of this eidted CD list i did..and the one on your previous what if video...thanks. Peace * Originally, for the CD, I included Paul's Pipes of Peace and No More Lonely Nights and George's only number 1 hit from the 80's, Got My Mind Set on You.
This is a great comp you did. The cd format allows to expand otherwise it is really hard to keep it to 13-14 tracks. Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley caught me by surprise!
Good to see other Beatle extrmeos like myself. I did the same thing a few years ago complete with full album art. Mine was a little more accurate I must say because I used period correct (almost) songs. I called it Everest (Beatle nuts will get it)
Nah, Lennon would never have let it go out with such crappy lyrics. Or Paul wouldn't have dared bring such lyrics in to the Beatles. That was the tragedy of the breakup. Paul wrote some great music on Ram - e.g. Backseat of My Car - but his lyrics (except on Too Many People) were cheesy as hell.
@@aquamarine99911 Agreed. Uncle Albert is another one of Paul's whimsical "Granny Music" (as John once called them) similar to Maxwell's Silver Hammer. Just throwaway clap trap garbage. It's a bouncy little tune and is one of Paul's little Pocket Symphonies but..... he could have come up with some better lyrics that actually meant something or lead to a point.
@@johnpresnell but if it was released under the Beatles, Lennon would be first, Paul and Linda (McCartney-McCartney) second and third. I.doubt John liked that song but just like Hello Goodbye (which he disliked) he would've got a song writing credit for any McCartney compositions released under The Beatles name
So many good songs. Good on you for throwing in some obscure efforts. Controversial as he is, I see Bill Cosby's Wonderfulness in the background. That was one of Cosby's classics.
I do this all the time. Fun exercise as well as an excuse to hear some groovy music. My listings for a final album: Instant Karma, My Sweet Lord, Maybe I'm Amazed, Photograph, What Is Life, Jealous Guy, All Things Must Pass, Uncle Albert..., It Don't Come Easy, Imagine, Junk and Love.
Interesting line-up. Kind of a Fantasy Football league only for the Beatles. And, I am old enough to have that "cheesy" Beatles second album. Thanks for the work you must have put into this. Pat, in Chicago
How about a truly post Beatles 1971 double album (nothing from before 1970): "SIDE 1" Working Class Hero Too Many People Beware Of Darkness I Don't Want To Be A Soldier That Would Be Something Wah Wah "SIDE 2" Imagine Dear Boy It Don't Come Easy Awaiting On You All Mother Oh Woman Oh Why "SIDE 3" Isolation Maybe I'm Amazed My Sweet Lord Love Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey If Not For You "SIDE 4" What Is Life Crippled Inside Oo You Back Off Boogaloo Ballad Of Sir Frankie Crisp God
Of course, if The Beatles had stayed together, they could have continued to produce two albums per year for at least another decade. Ringo's strong of hits died off after the late '70s, but the other three would have kept the hits coming. They might have brought in some other guest players like they did with Eric Clapton and Billy Preston.
I took some time to work out what I thought would be a great album to follow Abbey Road. Here is what I came up with: Side A 1.) Every Night 2.) Crippled Inside 3.) Another Day 4.) I Live For You 5.) Heart Of The Country 6.) Not Guilty Side B 7.) Imagine 8.) Let Me Roll it 9.) Behind That Locked Door 10.) Gimme Some Truth 11.) Isn't It A Pity 12.) Junk I know this is lacking in Lennon songs, but we all know George was peaking as a songwriter and it would be a shame for him not to have a bigger presence on this hypothetical follow up to Abbey Road. McCartney has 5 songs, Harrison has 4, and John has 3. I tried to work in some RIngo, but I just could not make one fit in naturally. Thanks for making this content. You videos are top notch!
What an excellent choice of songs.. It would be so easy to have compiled all the 'solo' hits from this era to make a wonderful album.. But I like the fact that you chose some obscure songs , which more than likely were written with the same enthusiasm as the hits they wrote not knowing weather or not they would be hits or not...( On a side note : Except for Ringo Starr, during the 1970-75 years, Lennon-Harrison-McCartney ,these 3 each had 'sole producers credits for the albums they released). 🎼 👊😎 🎼
1972 - A Doll's House 01 - Give Ireland Back To The Irish (McCartney) 02 - Hold On (Lennon) 03 - Bip Bop (McCartney) 04 - Circles (Harrison) 05 - Isolation (Lennon) 06 - Back Off Boogaloo (Richard Starkey) 07 - Sour Milk Sea (Harrison) 08 - I Found Out (Lennon) 09 - Another Day (McCartney) 10 - Junk (McCartney) 11 - Look at Me (Lennon) 12 - Beware Of Darkness (Harrison) 13 - God (Lennon)
i honestly think abbey road works as the perfect ending to the beatles, especially with the end at the tail end of the b side medley. the end was the first and last time ringo ever had a drum solo, it was the first and last time john, paul, and george all had guitar solos at the same time, it endlessly repeats "love you" as a callback to the beatles countless songs about love, and i dont think the beatles couldve gone out on a higher note than "and in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."

He said he took the decision to put "Her Majesty" as the very last little ditty as some kind of surprise
at the very end of the album - as he thought that little song deserved to be heard.
But it was not at all intended for the album - so he kind of hid it at the end.
You have to wait for it for several seconds before it suddenly pops up at the uttermost end.
Paul McCartney once did a performance with the Queen present - and he did "Her Majesty."
Said "Sorry, I just couldn't help it" !
Abby Roads song list was perfection...and the last phrase is what should be in stone as a memorium.
The Beatles Abbey Road ending was the proper way to go out. They'd done enough for us and deserved a break. The Masters of Modern Music!
'Oh Woman, Oh Why' is a great track, usually overlooked. Cheers.
I would have included “It Don’t Come Easy”. I believe it could have had a Harrison-Starkey writers credit too.
That song is on the previous _Album That Never Was_ I created found here: ruclips.net/video/E-KXTp6WDI0/видео.html
I would have ended the album with "All Things Must Pass" - the quiet, stripped-down demo version (I think) with the group.
He already included that on "Beatles '70".
I think that’s a great idea too. They all did work on it during Let It Be.
I'd buy this album, if it existed, in a minute!!! Nice job Matt!
Cheers Mat! 🍻
I just put one of these together myself. It's titled, "The Beatles - Today and Tomorrow". Got the idea from "Yesterday and Today". Wish I could post a picture of the cover. Here's the track list:
1. Maybe I'm Amazed
2. Remember
3. All Things Must Pass
4. Teddy Boy
5. Loser's Lounge
6. Crippled Inside
1. Beware Of Darkness
2. How
3. Gimme Some Truth
4. Every Night
5. Oo You
6. Imagine
Great title and very cool track listing.
Nice one, I think the Beatles usual went for 14 tracks on an album though.
We're not in denial! I love doing these too. Thanks for watching!
Born 1954 and big fan since i want to thank you for this great thing . greetings from bremen
I prefer that the final song of their final album is the last song they recorded together, The End. It says it all.
My Sweet Love should be followed by John Lennons God ... Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha!
You mean "My Sweet Lord"
@@garychambers5850 Yes, I hit the wrong key on the keyboard.
Lots of fun. I listened to the album on spotify. I could picture uncle Albert as the closing song on side one. Thanks for the video and spotify song list!!
5:24, as big as My Sweet Lord was, it's good that it was George, solo, that got sued and lost. Imagine if the Beatles had been the ones sued and lost.
Yabbut George was the songwriter so it still comes down to that. Plus, and this is a bit of a stretch, with the whole band working on it, possibly somebody might have noticed the similarity and coaxed him to change it up.
I really enjoy these albums that never were and just added them to my Spotify library!
Paul's "contributions" to Last Album could have used John's guitar and lower harmonies, and My Sweet Lord might have been been a stronger song with John and Paul singing the "hallelujah" harmonies.
Love that LAST ALBUM cover!! And very fascinating collection of songs.
Where can we find that stripped down version of "Awaiting on You All" you mentioned?
It's on his Early Takes compilation: ruclips.net/video/guFBhI_04PA/видео.html
I remember years ago around 1971 someone had a magazine with solo Beatles songs made into a New Beatles album similar to this. Well Done!
It don’t come easy was a gigantic hit. You weren’t even born, how could you remember....
I actually was born before then. You'll find It Don't Come Easy on the preceding _Album That Never Was_ "Beatles '70" right here: ruclips.net/video/E-KXTp6WDI0/видео.html
Too bad they didn't do this album, it would have given some kind of closure to the greatest band that ever was.
This would have been a great album. The main priority would be to keep Phil Spector away - George Martin would have been asked to produced it I think.
Great work Matt. You put so much time and effort into these videos. A really good set there for the best band in the world's last album.
Thank you, Mike - much appreciated.

Vinyl Rewind sent me here. Excellent concept!
Thanks for stoppin' by! I appreciate the comment.
Man, I knew "Isn't It A Pity" would be the last track! Cool...
What a fantastic concept! A few of these songs are unknown to me, but I'm grateful that historians like you can rummage through the closets of time and still deliver fresh, fashionable musical images.
I can hear the backing vocals for My Sweet Lord. George sings "my sweet lord" followed by John and Paul harmonizing "do lang, do lang, do lang" 😁
He’s so fine. Do Lang do Lang do Lang 😭
I feel God prefers the music of the soul over spoken word. Music is such a sacred gift. I'd get this album- those are all great songs.
I'm not sure when it was written, but George's Give Me Love might be my favorite post-Beatles song from any of the group.
I've always loved that song.
I think a bit later than the selections for this hypothetical album, but a great song for sure. One of his very best.
Oh woman oh why is very underrated
Nice to see another Ventures fan besides me. Knock Me Out is one of their best. Never get tired of hearing their albums.
I will eventually do a 60s band history on the Ventures so stay tuned!

For the final album , you need to include songs from the ringo album, like photograph and I'm the greatest being as they are beatles collaborations indirectly.
Love this channel mate, you’re doing us Fabanoraks a great service!🙌😉
Ram is my favorite Paul McCartney album. Plastic Ono Band is my favorite John Lennon album. All things must Pass my favorite George Harrison album.
I totally agree. Had that song been on Abbey Road or even Let It Be, it would have been even more poignant. Great suggestion, Eli.
This is the 1971 Beatles album I made many years ago.
Side One:
Imagine
Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey
Deep Blue
Gimme Some Truth
All Things Must Pass
Smile Away (I re-imagine this one with Ringo as the lead singer - and the entire group having a blast with this track)
Side Two:
Oh My Love
Too Many People
Let It Down (acoustic demo version - which is so beautiful)
Jealous Guy
Dear Boy
It's So Hard
Isn't It A Pity
I could hardly believe that you had the exact same 3 songs starting your LP as mine - and the same song ending it.
I liked everything about The Beatles' Second Album.
I imagine a lot of us did this and Early on I made a lot of Beatle songs on 8 track or cassette but in 1997 from the cd's I downloaded the songs on my computer and each folder was a different album so I could play whatever I liked and so on. worked great. and also combined some solo work as you did.
I love The Beatles but once that Left Banke album behind you caught my eye I couldn't think of any other music.🏆
@@popgoesthe60s52 Awesome! I'm a graphic designer so I hear you on that. Totally worth it though, they look fantastic!
I just think at that time you wouldn't get neither George playing on a song having "and no religion too" nor John participating in My Sweet Lord or Awaiting at You All. Nevertheless a fine fantasy and thank you!

Matt, I agree with everything except Halsey, I would have McCartney's Too many people.
Your Idea should be made into a cd , I would buy it!

All Things Must Pass is my pick for album closer
George’s parents were not dying at the same time. George’s mother died in 1970, and his father died in 1978. It was only his mother who was dying in the hospital when he wrote the song deep blue
Thank you for the correction.
I recall an article in a school newsletter around the same time period, 71 or so. It was based on an imaginary LP titled "The Beatles Apart".
Thank you for the comment. I wanted to try for a diverse selection - so much good stuff to choose from!
From the first time I played “Wings Over America “ I’ve wanted a live “Beatles“ album.
I may tackle a Beatles mid-1970s live reunion album in the future as an _Album That Never Was_
You got one Mr. Nasty the next year "Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl"...How's Chastity?
Hi, thanks for this suggestion of a 1970/71 Beatles LP, it´s one I´ve actually thought about for several years ... having come up with my own solution - and interestingly with a similar division of 4+4+4+1 (or 2, depending on the running time).
Here is my „Last Beatles-LP“:
"What Is Life" (Harrison) - 4:22
"Another Day" (Paul & Linda McCartney) - 3:42
"Instant Karma!" (Lennon) - 3:35
„It don´t come easy“ (Starkey/Harrison) - 3:02
"Imagine" (Lennon) - 3:01
"Every Night" (Paul McCartney) - 2:31
"Beware of Darkness" (Harrison) - 3:48
24:01
"Maybe I'm Amazed" (Paul McCartney) - 3:53
"Jealous Guy"(Lennon) - 4:14
"Run of the Mill" (Harrison) - 2:49 - or "All Things Must Pass" - 3:44
"Dear Boy" (Paul & Linda McCartney) - 2:12
"Gimme Some Truth" (Lennon) - 3:16
"Isn't It a Pity (Version One)" (Harrison) - 7:10
23:34 / 24:29
total 47:35 / 48:30
Alternative instead of Instant Karma: Give Peace A Chance - it would be very interesting what The Beatles would have made out of this simple sing-along ... maybe something similar to All You Need Is Love.
Cheers.
Great list! Thank you for taking the time to compile it!
That was great. Loved it.
I’m glad they broke up so that we had all the beautiful solo albums
this is great! i've just found your channel so you may have already covered it, but if not, could you do a video on how you make these albums that never were from start to finish?
subscribed!
I may do that. I have a few more Beatles ones to make so I will keep that in mind. Thank for the comment!
@5:45--Geo. Harrison was proven guilty of having plagiarized "He's So Fine," by the Chiffons for use in "My Sweet Lord." It seems a stretch especially since the latter tune has a bridge that is radically different from the former.
Plus, he said he nicked it from "Oh, Happy Day"!
No way would The Beatles have recorded My Sweet Lord.
At least not with all the "Hari Krishna" shanting towards the end.
A "Hallelujah" here and there would possibly pass - but I'm not sure.
Was my sweet lord a bigger hit than imagine ???
@@boum62 YES
They would see the law suit ahead.
@@boum62 Yes, it was. '71, '72 George was a bigger rock star than John. George had back to back #1 albums.
Ha! I made these mix tapes on cassettes way back in the 80's...always a fun excursive. Heck I made a couple of em' on cd a few years back. Also another worthy "what if" is CSN&Y. I've got 3 or 4 versions of the record after deja Vu.
What if Decca had signed the Beatles? What kind of a first album they would have put out?
Great channel. Great content. 👍
For Beatles last album I would put these songs on side one:
Come Together
Something
Maxwell's Silver Hammer
Oh! Darling
Octopus's Garden"
I Want You (She's So Heavy)
Side two I would start up with
Here Comes the Sun
Then I would do some kind of medley with the following songs
Here Comes the Sun
Because
You Never Give Me Your Money
Sun King
Mean Mr. Mustard
Polythene Pam
She Came In Through the Bathroom Window
Golden Slumbers
Carry That Weight
The End
Maybe it would be fun to stick a hidden track in the in, maybe Her Majesty could be used for that.
For the album cover I would just have them go outside Abbey Road studio and take a picture at the crossing.
That's a great idea!! Lol
I love it! Makes total sense. Great comment.
..and don't forget to throw in some "Paul Is Dead" clues...
Just for fun..😉
Sounds good...but drop Maxwell's Silver Hammer and it might be a fairly nice album.
Great compilation! I'd definitely put Maybe I'm Amazed on that album which to me is one of the best songs that Paul has ever written.
Hello Sergey! You'll find _Maybe I'm Amazed_ on the _Album That Never Was_ that preceded this one. 🙂
Side A
1. What is Life
2. Maybe I'm Amazed
3. Oh My Love
4. Ram On (reprise - as a fun interlude to lighten the mood)
5. Gimme Some Truth
6. All Things Must Pass
Side B
7. Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey
8. Jealous Guy
9. Let it Down
10. Back Seat of My Car
11. Love
Again a strong record. I think I’d swap Uncle Albert for Too many people and Deep Blue for Art of dying. That should rock it up sufficiently
I wouldn’t touch side two... well done sir :)
Great list, but think of the courtroom dramas with "My Sweet Lord" (aka "He's so Fine").
Presumably one of the other Beatles, or George Martin, would have told George it sounded too much like "He's So Fine" and to change it.
Be great to see this album distributed. I know several that would buy it.

It’s a pretty mellow album, with lots of acoustics and not many fast songs, a kind of self-reflectory period for all the members.

Beatles - Material World (1973)
Side one:
Live and Let Die
Mind Games
Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)
My Love
Out of the Blue
Sue Me, Sue You Blues
Side two
Photograph
I Know (I Know)
Helen Wheels
Don’t Let Me Wait Too Long
Meat City
Country Dreamer
Living in the Material World
Finally this again was pretty straight-forward. There are plenty of rockers, self-reflective pieces, we have four songs from John-Paul-George and one song from Ringo, as the good lord would’ve intended if he would’ve been kinder. I’m very satisfied with this one.
Beatles - Band on the Run (1974)
Side one:
Band on the Run
Goodnight Vienna
Whatever Gets You Through the Night
So Sad
Jet
What You Got
Side two:
Ding Dong, Ding Dong
Bluebird
#9 Dream
Dark Horse
Steel and Glass
Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five
Okay, so this, their final 70s outing was another pretty straightforward one, except for a few things.
But even this way I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out.
man...i'm sure glad you're doing this...i thought i was the only one...lol
here's another CD i did for a "Beatles" album consisting their solo tunes, post-Beatles (in a much wider period range)..that includes a what if...Paul and The Beatles and not Wings who was asked to do the theme song for the James Bond flick, Live and Let Die.
But, for this, I have to exclude songs that came out after John's death.
Beatles: Four in 1
1. (Just Like) Starting Over
2. Live and Let Die
3. Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)
4. No No Song
5. Whatever Gets You Thru the Night
6. Silly Love Song
7. Woman
8. You're Sixteen
9. Watching the Wheels
10. Bangla-Desh
11. Goodnight Tonight
12. Mind Games
13. Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley
14. Wah-Wah
15. Every Night
16. God
Please let me know what you think of this eidted CD list i did..and the one on your previous what if video...thanks.
Peace
* Originally, for the CD, I included Paul's Pipes of Peace and No More Lonely Nights and George's only number 1 hit from the 80's, Got My Mind Set on You.
This is a great comp you did. The cd format allows to expand otherwise it is really hard to keep it to 13-14 tracks. Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley caught me by surprise!
Love your podcasts !
Good to see other Beatle extrmeos like myself. I did the same thing a few years ago complete with full album art. Mine was a little more accurate I must say because I used period correct (almost) songs. I called it Everest (Beatle nuts will get it)
So I guess "Uncle Albert" would be credited to "Lennon-Mccartney-Mccartney"
Or McCartney-Lennon-McCartney, much like Holland-Dozier-Holland!
@@That_AMC_Guy ok boomer
So many good songs. Good on you for throwing in some obscure efforts. Controversial as he is, I see Bill Cosby's Wonderfulness in the background. That was one of Cosby's classics.
Thank you for watching! I may do a video on Cosby's 1960s albums in the future, so stay tuned!
I love doing these too - especially designing the covers. Some people get angry over it.... I can't see why.
Interesting line-up. Kind of a Fantasy Football league only for the Beatles. And, I am old enough to have that "cheesy" Beatles second album. Thanks for the work you must have put into this.
Pat, in Chicago
Thank you, Pat! More to come.
What no Instant Karma! (We All Shine On)?
Hey Andy, you'll find that song and others on the preceding _Album That Never Was_ here: ruclips.net/video/E-KXTp6WDI0/видео.html
For what it's worth, John once said ELO is what the Beatles would have sounded like if they didn't break up
How about a truly post Beatles 1971 double album (nothing from before 1970):
"SIDE 1"
Working Class Hero
Too Many People
Beware Of Darkness
I Don't Want To Be A Soldier
That Would Be Something
Wah Wah
"SIDE 2"
Imagine
Dear Boy
It Don't Come Easy
Awaiting On You All
Mother
Oh Woman Oh Why
"SIDE 3"
Isolation
Maybe I'm Amazed
My Sweet Lord
Love
Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey
If Not For You
"SIDE 4"
What Is Life
Crippled Inside
Oo You
Back Off Boogaloo
Ballad Of Sir Frankie Crisp
God
Great concept. That would have sold!
Here is what I came up with:
Side A
1.) Every Night
2.) Crippled Inside
3.) Another Day
4.) I Live For You
5.)
Heart Of The Country
6.) Not Guilty
Side B
7.) Imagine
8.) Let Me Roll it
9.) Behind That Locked Door
10.) Gimme Some Truth
11.) Isn't It A Pity
12.) Junk
I know this is lacking in Lennon songs, but we all know George was peaking as a songwriter and it would be a shame for him not to have a bigger presence on this hypothetical follow up to Abbey Road. McCartney has 5 songs, Harrison has 4, and John has 3. I tried to work in some RIngo, but I just could not make one fit in naturally.
Thanks for making this content. You videos are top notch!
Thank you for the list, Jim! Great choices.
Finally some love for Not Guilty!
Except where Phil Spector worked with George on ATMP and John's 'Rock & Roll.....
1972 - A Doll's House
01 - Give Ireland Back To The Irish (McCartney)
02 - Hold On (Lennon)
03 - Bip Bop (McCartney)
04 - Circles (Harrison)
05 - Isolation (Lennon)
06 - Back Off Boogaloo (Richard Starkey)
07 - Sour Milk Sea (Harrison)
08 - I Found Out (Lennon)
09 - Another Day (McCartney)
10 - Junk (McCartney)
11 - Look at Me (Lennon)
12 - Beware Of Darkness (Harrison)
13 - God (Lennon)
Now I've got to design another cover! More to come.
I followed John’s suggestion and made my own.
