“Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey” could also have been included. I remember hearing it on the radio when it was first released , thinking it was some lost Beatles track, then finding out it was just Paul.
@@unagjac890 Yes, but technically it was material recorded the year before and cobbled together by Phil Spector. Abbey Road was their last recorded album
It would be nice to hear Beware Of Darkness with George singing the first verse, John singing the second verse, Paul singing the third verse and all three singing the last verse in three part harmony. It Don't Come Easy would have been so great with John, Paul and George doing those background vocals!
I love Let it Down, and Beware of Darkness is just perfection. I had just turned nine years old when All Things Must Pass came out, such a fantastic album!
I absolutely loved the the album concept! I've been sharing the good news of your channel. I was very surprised that it ISN'T the same old rehashed stuff. LOVIN' IT!
Brilliant concept I really enjoyed your take on the situation, your level of detail in the research on all your Beatles vids are precise and well constructed good work
I love the design of the album. Such a cool idea. Overall good set list. I especially like that you put Hold On and Love on there. Great songs that aren’t as well known. My only additions would be Junk, Teddy Boy, Mother, and Working Class Hero.
Thanks! I just uploaded my podcast with this full album and I tried to make the songs flow by crossfading them which worked pretty well: www.podomatic.com/podcasts/popgoesthe60s/episodes/2020-07-05T18_19_48-07_00 More to come!
@@popgoesthe60s52 I think The Beatles could've put out a triple album as George did, they had the clout, so in my fantasy '70 album there'd be more, including 'Try Some, Buy Some'!! haha
Mother is one of my fav John Lennon songs, hard to imagine the band playing that. Same for working class hero. I wish I could do the screams on mother.
The film Get Back reveals this. There are songs from John, Paul and George that they tried out during those sessions in Jan/Feb of 1969 that ended up on their solo albums. They also present some songs that ended up on Abbey Road like Golden Slumbers.
Love the cover concept. I was holding you would throw “Come and Get It” into the first four tracks and maybe Paul’s “Goodbye” somewhere before “All Things Must Pass”.
Love your channel bro just found it! Born in 89 but cant get enough of the beatles and their solo work too, i get sad when i think of all the amazing music they could have continued to make together, but its amazing the volume of work they released in such a short time. These guys were MACHINES
I took a different tact, decided they boys needed some time apart from each other so they each took a year off to release solo albums then got back together to make an album. Paul would have released "McCartney", John "Plastic Ono Band" and George a 1 disc "All Things Must Pass". They'd have held back some singles and used tracks that ended up on "Imagine" and "Ram".
I don't have Spotify, so I just listened to a DIY version of this album here on RUclips, and I really can't see these songs meshing into a cohesive work. At least not in their current states - obviously production and arrangements and so on would be completely different in this alternate history - but each writer gives their songs such a consistent tone here that clashes so much with the others'. John's raw, indie sincerity; George's stuff that is hallowed and reserved but with a deep intensity (can you tell ATMP is one of my favourite albums); Paul's playful musicality; Ringo just being Ringo (gotta love him). I feel like they absolutely needed the chance to make their own unalloyed statements before ever beatling again. In my ideal world that would be in 71 or 72, with Billy Preston as a full member - but hey, none of that matters, does it. I'm glad they did what they did. Anyway, good job putting together something that works as well as it does, considering all _that!_
I did something similar last year, except I used their solo albums. There was enough material in their 1970 albums for 2 discs, but this could've been a strong single disc album using the 4+4+4+2 format. I'd say it is better than Abbey Road. I let John open it and Paul close it. Ringo's songs were actually released in 1971, but I think they were recorded in 1970. Close enough. Ditto for Another Day. Mother - John Another Day - Paul My Sweet Lord - George It Don't Come Easy - Ringo Ooh You - Paul Look at Me - John Isn't It a Pity - George Isolation - John Every Night - Paul Wah-Wah - George Early 1970 - Ringo What Is Life - George God - John Maybe I'm Amazed - Paul
Hi Matt. I came over from Larry Graves "Canadian Studmuffin" channel through a link you left me on one of my comments. Really impressive work. Just subbed to your channel. You deserve way more subs!
Good lineup! Enjoyed the video. I had always thought that Another Day was kind of a kiss off to the Beatles. I didn’t realize the Beatles had rehearsed it. I’ve always thought McCartney’s 1985 would’ve been a good Beatles song. Thanks for the video. Looking forward to watching more.
The movie Boyhood by Richard Linklater and with Ethan Hawke introduced the idea of a “Black” album that would be the greatest hits by individual Beatles, but different in that the songs would be their solo efforts. Anyway, great fun. Thx!!
I won't argue with your choices or the order (though maybe "All Things Must Pass" could be a closer). All great songs. Off the top of my head: SIDE A Instant Karma It Don’t Come Easy Another Day Hold On Man We Was Lonely Isn’t it A Pity SIDE B Early 1970 I Found Out (I could replace this with "Gimmie Some Truth" which was worked on with Beatles but I guess since it's from1971 - no dice). Apple Scruffs Every Night Love I Dig Love Maybe I'm Amazed
@@popgoesthe60s52 Yeah, there is a lot to choose from! Great mock up albums with all four of them from 71-74. Then it gets a little scattered as Lennon did less and less until 1980.
I see the Left Bank in your album collection. That is the very first album I ever had. My dad brought it home from a trip when he was traveling for business. Don’t Walk Away Renee! Pretty Ballerina. Classic
John Lennon suggested fans tape the solo albums to make a compilation album if they wanted the Beatles to get back together again. Actually, we all got 4 times the music out through the solo careers when you think of it. He said that too.
These instead are songs - like you know - that were written when they were still formally together (that we know were composed before the official breakup date), and that could make an album after "Abbey Road" without writing anything new: McCartney: "Maybe i'm amazing", "Every Night", "Teddy Boys", "Junk and Singalong Junk", "The back seat of my car", "The Lovely Linda" [and also wanting "Another Day", "Hot as Sun/Glasses", "The palace of the king of the birds"]. Lennon: "Child of Nature (Gelouse Gay)", "Oh my love", "Look at Me", "Gimme Some Truth (Give Me Some Truth)". Harrison: "All things must pass", "Wah-Wah", "I'snt a pity", "I'd Have You Anytime", "Let It Down", "Run Of The Mill" [and also wanting "Sour Milk Sea", "Not guilty", "Circles"]. After all, we would have had another excellent, albeit "approximate" - given the situation -, Beatles album ^^
Hi. Great Channel! I created an album of songs that began life while The Beatles were a going concern, but were not officially released until later. Its 12 tracks clock in at just under 40 minutes. I call the album Why Let It Be? Here it is with each lead vocalist listed. A fun exercise. All songs from post-Beatles solo albums, except one each from Anthology 2 and 3. Why Let It Be? Side One: 1) Jealous Guy - John 2) Not Guilty - George 3) Another Day - Paul 4) Look at Me - John 5) Junk - Paul 6) All Things Must Pass - George Side Two: 7) If You’ve Got Trouble - Ringo 8) Give Me Some Truth - John 9) Come and Get It - Paul 10) Circles - George 11) Teddy Boy - Paul 12) Cold Turkey - John
Hi Matt, I have really enjoyed your segments on Albums that never were especially this one and the next one- Last Album, So after viewing this video last year Ive been seriously researching and having fun at the same time on what could have been this Album that The Beatles never released or as some "lost album", This album would have been released around the fall of 1970 or early 1971.In reality some of these songs were rehearsed during the Let it Be sessions or written in India and before officially breaking up. So here's the list of songs of The Beatles Lost (Double!!!) Album titled:The Beatles Jubilee(the original title of Paul's song Junk) 1.Come and Get it(Paul)*Had Paul not given it to Badfinger* 2.Early 1970(Ringo)*According to information in the book by Tom Doyle-Man on the Run, and Wikipedia it has John,George and Ringo in this recording and with a ploy by Allen Klein and John to lure Paul to also involve himself in this recording as The Beatles to undermine Paul's legal actions against Klein and the other three Beatles* 3.Hot as Sun(Paul) 4.Id Have You Anytime(George) 5.Suicide (Paul)*rejected by Frank Sinatra*6.Oh Yoko(John) 7.Woke Up this Morning(Paul) 8.The Art of Dying(George) 9.Long Lost John(John)*a song by Lonnie Donegan and performed by The Quarrymen* 10.Teddy Boy(Paul) 11.Behind That Locked Door(George) 12.Look at me(John) 13.Everynight(Paul) 14.Jealous Guy(John)*AKA Child of Nature* 15.Another Day(Paul) 16.It Dont Come Easy( Ringo)*Original title: You Gotta Pay Your Dues*17.Let it Down(George) 18.Gimme Some Truth(John) 19.Wah Wah(George) 20.Back Seat of my Car(Paul) 21.All Things Must Pass(George) 22.Junk(Paul) 23. Hey Ernie! You did some very solid work here and what way they could've gone out - with a double album! I never thought of that. Thanks for taking the time to make your tracklisting!
Great cover and song collection. I can't think of any improvements. Now if only we could go back in time and get them into the studio to record these songs together. Then we'd really be rocking.
There already is a cover for a never to be Beatles album, which you have titled Beatles '70, and this is the photo used on the Blue album, 1967/70 on the balcony at EMI. I'm not convinced about ending or including Cold Turkey on the album. Give Peace a Chance would have fitted well with all four Beatles at the period so closing out with that was an option.
What would be really interesting would be a 3rd party re-recording those song as if the Beatles were recording them, making in some places different musical choices.
I ghostwrote most of Cloud 9 and all of vol 1 Trav Wilburys ,April 1987.It was a way to give Roy Orbison his comeback with albums I ghostwrote Mystery Girl &King of Hearts.
They got so many great songs as solo artists, that in the "right" order, they would have made perfect albums had they continued as a band... Yours was a great selection for a beatles 70 first record... Awesome work
I have made numerous Beatles albums out of their solo material. This is one I made for 1970 many years ago... Side One: The Lovely Linda Instant Karma Maybe I'm Amazed My Sweet Lord It Don't Come Easy Junk Beware Of Darkness Working Class Hero Side Two: Every Night I'd Have You Any Time Love Oo You What Is Life Another Day Isolation My Mummy's Dead The album opens with the little snippet "The Lovely Linda" with the flowers in her hair - with that cutesy giggle at the end... and then blasts into the album proper with Instant Karma's drums leading the way. The first four full length songs feature John, Paul, George & Ringo with a strong track of their own which could have each easily been a hit single (which of course they all were in real life). Then they soften it up with Paul's lovely poetic tribute to "Junk"... before coming back with two powerful tracks from George and then John - to end side one. Side two open's with three beautiful love songs from the three Beatles that had been together since 1958 (first Paul, then George, then John). Next Paul continues the love theme with a much funkier take on the subject with "Oo You" - and then George adds on to that theme with his faster paced, lively "What Is Life". The love fest takes a sharp turn to the unrequited side of love with Paul's "Another Day"... and then goes deep and dark with John's "Isolation" as the album's closer. After 18 seconds of silence - John's "My Mummy's Dead" is the album's finishing touch - as a hidden track. The album has 14 full tracks (7 per side) plus a little snippet at the beginning... and another at the end. Released at the beginning of December, 1970... this Beatles album went on to be #1 for 11 weeks in both the U.S. and the U.K.
What if... Paul McCartney contributed to Ringo's Album "Ringo". I think this was the closest we ever got to have a Beatles Reunion. Great take on the Album cover.
Hi Matt: I seem to have come across this video a bit late. It's a great idea though - I have seen other things posted doing much the same but the choices you make seem much more sense and a definite "flow". "Cold Turkey" as the closer is a masterstroke. It has always been one of my very favorite songs since I first heard it. D
People think that Cold Turkey would never have been a Beatles song but I disagree. How about a late 1969 single Maybe I'm Amazed / Cold Turkey? Thanks for commenting, David.
What a great idea for a video! That "album" really stirs my imagination. If it had existed in 1970, it would probably have stood alongside Abbey Road and Pepper as their best.
Pretty good list. I watched a few of these videos now & keep wondering why no one has Paul's "Come & Get It" on their lists? Although not on an album, it was written & recorded in 1969 before they broke up as a demo for Badfinger & is an absolutely amazing song that has a huge Beatles vibe. Anyone care to add your 2 cents?
I think the simple reason is that Paul didn't write "Come And Get It" for the Beatles, he wrote it for Badfinger. Just as he wrote "Step Inside Love" for Cilla and "Goodbye" for Mary Hopkin around the same time.
Thank you for the comment. I may offer some of these jackets when I develop a membership subscription. These Albums That Never Were are expensive to print and a pain in the ass to assemble so I’ll have to figure out a way to best offer them. Stay tuned!
That is untrue. That story has gained steam when the George lead vocal of the song came out as a bootleg. Ringo is on record saying that he had much of the song and lyric written and George added to the arrangement and obviously production.
Great idea - Here is my take on a "Beatles '73" album so the 4 John/4 Paul/4 George/2 Ringo mix was made from songs that were released by 1973. All are top songs on Spotify and not necessarily "personal favorites." I listen to this playlist trying to imagine the songs with all four Beatles involved. BEATLES ‘73 SIDE ONE Baby, I’m Amazed Instant Karma (We All Shine On) Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth) Every Night Jealous Guy Photograph Isn’t It a Pity SIDE TWO Jet What is Life It Don’t Come Easy Oh, My Love My Love All Things Must Pass Imagine
Really enjoyed this, will make a playlist of these exact songs. I would have included “ working class man “ with the F word & “ Junk” and ended with “Give peace a chance “ !
For the singles that weren’t on the albums, you could lead off with “Mother” by John backed with “Greenfield Morning I Pushed an Empty Baby Carriage All Over the City.” The tracks are similar thematically as they both deal with painful parent-child situations. “Greenfield” is a Yoko song, but John played guitar on it, Ringo the drums, and George the sitar. Then for their next single the group could have released George’s “If Not for You.” On the flip-side Paul could finally get “Teddy Boy” out there as it vibes really well with the sweet A-side.
I love these videos - thanks for making them and sharing them with us. I do have one little nitpick on this track list, though. “Instant Karma!” would surely have been a non-album single. The whole idea was to write, record, and release the song as quickly as possible. It does sound great kicking off Beatles ‘70 though. If it was a single, Past Masters Volume Three is looking like it would have been great.
Great cover - lovely pictures and written description, simple yet imaginative!!!! In terms of music: Ugh there's sooo much!!! They could have done some covers like Suzy Parker, Hi Ho Silver, I'll Keep It With Mine and a George version of I'll Still Love You. Lots of great material on The Black Album bootleg if I remember correctly. They could have had their own Black Album. Just to get some jamming and trading licks - raw and not as polished as The End from Abbey Road would have shown great insight into their influences and maybe harkened back to why they originally formed to be a rock band in the first place. I really like the addition of acoustic guitar in their music (like Help and Rubber Soulish). George could've used slide on Beatles songs. I don't know. Peace!!!
I've advertised your site on my 60's fansite... I'm so impressed...you should be on BBC2..BBC 4! listening to it now.. have you made an actual record to go with sleeve just for yourself?
Hey Peter, thank you so much for listing me on your site. I have not made actual records for these jackets but I have thought of it! I appreciate the feedback.
LOVE your Ventures LP display behind you! You do great Beatles research videos, Matt!! Have you ever thought of researching the DC5 and the Bobbie Graham connection as well as DC5 vs Beatles?
By then, even four songs an album would not have been enough for George, or John or Paul for that matter. They were all quite prolific songwriters at that time. I remember George noting that problem in an interview. I also remember reading in Peter Doggett's book that various Beatles put forward vague ideas in interviews about how to move forward, including having maybe one Beatles album a year and then solo albums from the individual Beatles. But isn't it a pity, isn't it a shame, that they didn't seem to ever seriously discuss these proposals in person, at least after September 1969.
Yeah, they just crumbled under their own weight. It really was the Klein issue that did them in and they were too close to it to see what was going on. Of course hindsight is 20/20.
This is my fantasy Beatle album that would come out in late 1971. They would decide to put out a double album because they had so much good material, especially George. Side 1. 1.It Don't Come Easy 2. I'd Have You Anytime 3. Wah-Wah 4. Hold On 5. I Found Out 6. My Sweet Lord 7. Man We Was Lonely 8. Run Of The Mill Side 2. 1. Mother 2. Junk 3. Every Night 4. Working Class Hero 5. Awaiting On You All 6. If Not For You (Dylan cover) 7. Isn't It A Pity (version one) Side 3. 1. Singalong Junk 2. That Would Be Something 3. Oo You 4. Teddy Boy 5. Apple Scruffs 6. Love 7. Look At Me 8. Ballad Of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll) 9. Let It Down Side 4. 1. What Is Life? 2. Beware OfDarkness 3. Remember 4. Maybe I'm Amazed 5. God 6. All Things Must Pass 7. Photograph
You're a liner note writing natural! I grinned all the way through your reading it. Wasn't "The Ballad of John and Yoko" written or close to being written by '70? Such fun song, almost like some of the pieces on the White Album. I'd kick off the album with "What Is Life", though.
It is my sincere belief that the Beatles said everything they had to say while together. Forget Yoko, Paul's ego, Epstein's passing, Management issues... They were virtuosos that ran out of things to say, but still had the skills. They all had some great records after the Beatles, but very few solo things came close to the Beatles quality and passion. The whole was greater than the sum of it's parts.
I listened to the whole album on your podcast. Wow... just awesome. A real revelation to hear these songs like this. I had never heard the Harrison song Let it Down. So great. Somehow I can't imagine Paul would have been a fan of Cold Turkey. I could be wrong though. It's pretty gut wrenching.
When I think of _Cold Turkey_ as a Beatles song, I think Paul's contribution to be like what he added to _I Want You (She's So Heavy)_ . We can dream, right! Thanks for listening to the podcast!
@@popgoesthe60s52 What if they toured on this record? (LOL) PAUL: Now we'd like to carry on with a song that's on our new LP. A song that might be a bit much.... RINGO: Little Donnie and Marie fans... PAUL: It was written by John after he'd caught a nasty case of diarrhea after eating some turkey over the Thanksgiving holiday, which we don't have here, he was in America... Then John cuts him off and barrels in with that guitar riff.

@@popgoesthe60s52 just for the fun of it The name if my album: The Beatles: the last album I had lovely Linda at the end but I figured the other lads wouldn’t had gone for it.
My thoughts too... when i did a similar selection i tried to use a lot of solo songs that were originally supposed to be Beatles songs and also ringo songs that were written by the other Beatles members.
Like the concept and nice selection. I sometimes wonder what would've happened if they'd stuck together through the seventies and maybe even into the eighties (also assuming John had survived). I wonder if their legend would've been diminished and the likes of punk rendered them sixties antiquities. However, the evidence of Paul, John and Georges continued output through that period suggests to me that the songwriting would've kept them up there and I suspect that continuing to work together might have kept each of them sharper than they became individually.
My experience in the pop/rock music world and their 70s output tells me that their influence would have faded and been a mere shadow of what it was in the 60s. I agree that they would have been sharper longer if together, but once they hit their 30s (let alone their 40s) they are no longer leaders of the younger generation because they were older. This is a video topic I plan to do. Thanks for the comment!
You mentioned “albums that never were”, I instantly thought of the supposed follow up to The Notorious Byrds Brothers that was supposed to be a concept album, I think sorta of a trip through Americana or something a long those lines. That never materialized and then we got the country one, but it has always been a mysterious and interesting what if to me. notorious is one of my all time favorite albums, and I am curious and how that line up ( the mcguinn , hillman and Clarke 3 piece) would have “followed up” as it were. The little live audio of some of their concerts as a 3 piece is super intriguing to me.
Yes, I will be covering this topic in my Byrds series. The original concept for the Notorious follow up was supposed to be a double album as well. We sure got something different!
This álbum and Many other albums Would have been a reality if the Beatles had signed a New contract for another Ten years with Kline, but Lennon and Harrison werent Happy with the way Brian Epstein was running the Beatles business, John wanted some freedom and for George to be a Beatle was like a punishment, and he Also wanted to develop his songwriting beyond the Beatles roof, but We all Who really like and appreciate the Beatles music could somehow Daydream with those albums during the 70's and they Would be fantastic the Beatles kept writing good songs during the 70's and they gave us classic songs such as Uncle Albert Admiral Hershey, Imagine, My Sweet Lord , Photograph, these and Many other classic songs might have been included on Many 70's Beatles albums, the only Beatle's álbum besides Let It Be that was released during the 70's was Ringo un 1973 there the Beatles joined their forces to help Ringo with his New álbum.
You mean Klein? And Epstein had been dead for 3 years. And it''s Admiral Halsey, not Hershey, which I think is an American chocolate. And to be fair, the Beatles did not "join forces" on the Ringo album in 1973, they each wrote a song and helped out individually with the recording of said song.
I actually made a CD of this...not only featuring solo songs from 1970, but everything that I think has that Beatle-esque sound...so, here it is, The Beatles: Back Together 1. Maybe I'm Amazed 2. Instant Karma! 3. My Sweet Lord 4. Jealous Guy (wrote by John in India, as Child of Nature) 5. Another Day 6. It Don't Come Easy 7. Imagine 8. What Is Life 9. My Love 10. Band on the Run (this Wings tune was so like a variant of A Day in the Life) 11. Isn't It a Pity 12. Power to the People 13. Love 14. Photograph 15. Oh Woman, Oh Why 16. All Things Must Pass * I'll stop there, going by the max amount of songs in an album back then...tho, for my CD, I also put John's Oh My Love, Paul's Dear Boy & Ringo's I'm the Greatest. That's my What If...Beatles reunited and did another album, all four, together again...after Let It Be..before John died.
@@popgoesthe60s52 thanks... check out my other lists on your other videos and tell me what u think of the ones u didn't pick... love sharing this with a fellow fan. 🙏😁
One could make a "Beatles" album every year up to about 1975, when John pretty much stopped. Then they could "come back" in 1980 with John's songs as well as the others. Your album as well as others would still sell like hotcakes.
I find it very interesting how everyone chooses differently for what the track listing of such an album would've been. I probably wouldn't have thought too much about which were rehearsed and all, just which I preferred by the four. It's interesting how they'd decided to have four by each of the songwriters though. Never knew that, but it's nice to keep learning new things about my favorite band of all time.
Another day never came to mind. Good one here is my list Beatles last album 1970. Mother. The lovely Linda. What is life. Every night. Coochy coochy. Isn’t it a pity. Well well well. Man we was lonely. Art of dying. Love. Oo you. Working class hero. Maybe I’m amazed. All things must pass.
Always fun to try to come up with a what if Beatles album. I did one years ago that I'd like to share with you. The backstory for mine is that the Beatles wanted a more stripped down lo-fi production (which John and Paul already were doing on their albums in 1970) so they decided to have that flavor throughout. Almost inspired by the Beach Boys Friends album. My album runs 48 minutes which is a tad longer, but not out of the question. My Mummy's Dead was kind of an intro to the album so 15 songs were "allowed." I can certainly drop a weaker cut like Oo You or even a controversial one like Working Class Hero. I also did not include Ringo's songs, going with the idea that he declined at the time! I didn't include Instant Karma because it was a John song already rush released in early 1970 and I was going with the idea that this album would have been released early fall 1970, many months after Let It Be. I didn't include It Don't Come Easy simply because it was released in 1971 but I suppose an exception could be made. The Beatles: "Apple Scruffs" 1 - My Mummy's Dead 2 - Every Night 3 - Beware Of Darkness 4 - Hold On 5 - Love 6 - Maybe I'm Amazed 7 - Behind That Locked Door 8 - Apple Scruffs 9 - Working Class Hero 10 - That Would Be Something 11 - I'd Have You Anytime 12 - Junk 13 - I Found Out 14 - Oo You 15 - Isn't It A Pity
Your lo-fi idea is a great one! You are correct in that John and Paul were on their way to their own lo-fi recordings (a completion of the original Get Back idea?) I think your selection are right on. It Don't Come Easy was recorded in March and October of 1970 so I never knew what the delay was about. Oh well, plenty of great tunes to choose from!
Side 1: The Lovely Linda / Maybe I'm Amazed / Instant Karma / What is Life / It Don't come Easy / Cold Turkey / I'd Have you Anytime..... With respect to creativity, equity & continuity.
Great record - I'd make a couple minor changes... S1 - Instant Karma/Beware of Darkness/Maybe I'm Amazed/Love/That Would Be Something/Apple Scruffs/Cold Turkey // S2 - It Don't Come Easy/Another Day/Let It Down/Hold On/Every Night/Isn't It a Pity/God
if they stayed together...I'm sure most of these tracks would've ended up sounding much different than what we got on their respective solo records! Something like Apple Scruggs/ATMP could be much much different
“Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey” could also have been included. I remember hearing it on the radio when it was first released , thinking it was some lost Beatles track, then finding out it was just Paul.
Ha...for quite a while I thought it WAS a Beatles song...

Just took a listen to see if I agree, and I do! What do you think of Beware of Darkness?
Brilliant concept I really enjoyed your take on the situation, your level of detail in the research on all your Beatles vids are precise and well constructed good work
Thanks Bradley - more to come!
I like to imagine them all implementing Paul’s home recording techniques and recording a lofi album on their own away from execs, camera crews, etc
Great list!! In my alternate world; It Don’t Come Easy, Instant Karma, All Things Must Pass, Another Day and Every Night are all Beatles song. 👍
I agree. I think all of Ringos hits UNTIL the No No song were Beatles songs.
Love the creativity of designing the album cover. Your channel is a lot of fun.
I love the design of the album. Such a cool idea. Overall good set list. I especially like that you put Hold On and Love on there. Great songs that aren’t as well known. My only additions would be Junk, Teddy Boy, Mother, and Working Class Hero.
Thanks! I just uploaded my podcast with this full album and I tried to make the songs flow by crossfading them which worked pretty well: www.podomatic.com/podcasts/popgoesthe60s/episodes/2020-07-05T18_19_48-07_00

Oh hey Jason
@@Carpetman6 hey Toffee Coffee
Your Beatles '70 LP is brilliant!! I look forward to adding it to my collection.
The film Get Back reveals this. There are songs from John, Paul and George that they tried out during those sessions in Jan/Feb of 1969 that ended up on their solo albums. They also present some songs that ended up on Abbey Road like Golden Slumbers.
Great selection of post-Beatle Beatle tracks.....as well as a great selection of Ventures' album covers in the background!!!!!!
Very cool project! Must have been fun to do. I like the choices, they do seem to flow nicely
Love the cover concept. I was holding you would throw “Come and Get It” into the first four tracks and maybe Paul’s “Goodbye” somewhere before “All Things Must Pass”.
Thanks! There are so many great songs to choose from, which is why I did one more Album That Never Was: _"The Beatles Last Album."_
"Goodbye" fan here!
This is a a hefty proposition and I appreciate you approaching it so thoughtfully.
Ya can't please everyone with this proposition, so I decided to please myself. Thanks for the warm comment.
Love your channel bro just found it! Born in 89 but cant get enough of the beatles and their solo work too, i get sad when i think of all the amazing music they could have continued to make together, but its amazing the volume of work they released in such a short time. These guys were MACHINES
Welcome to the channel! More to come.
I did one of these but I made it a double and called it “The Whiter Album,” from a Ringo quip.
Like KISS, but with better songs.
This, exactly.
Love the album cover art ! And this channel. Subscribed !
The whole time I'm writing these down so I can make it on spotify, and it was there all along lol... good job again
You nailed this one! Love the song list! Cheers Matt
You have included some songs here that I haven't heard before! Interesting! I will have to check them out!
I appreciate the kind feedback, mac!
Mother - John
Another Day - Paul
My Sweet Lord - George
It Don't Come Easy - Ringo
Ooh You - Paul
Look at Me - John
Isn't It a Pity - George
Isolation - John
Every Night - Paul
Wah-Wah - George
Early 1970 - Ringo
What Is Life - George
God - John
Maybe I'm Amazed - Paul
Nice job, Steve. It's almost a Greatest Hits album.
Ooo - another great one ! Love your album creations … thanks again : )
Have you read "Glimpses" by Lewis Shiner?. Beatles, Hendrix all lived and went back to the studio. Excellent book!.
No, I haven't read that. I'll have to check it out - Thanks!
I like the album cover. I think it links the past to where they were then. I look forward to listening to the album that never was.
Good video man! Love your stuff!
Hi Matt. I came over from Larry Graves "Canadian Studmuffin" channel through a link you left me on one of my comments. Really impressive work. Just subbed to your channel. You deserve way more subs!
Thank you I appreciate it! More to come.
I like seeing that vinyl Left Banke album in the background.
Glad you mentioned the Beatles version of Let it down...it's beautiful.
Off the top of my head:

Instant Karma
It Don’t Come Easy
Another Day
Hold On
Man We Was Lonely
Isn’t it A Pity
SIDE B

I Found Out (I could replace this with "Gimmie Some Truth" which was worked on with Beatles but I guess since it's from1971 - no dice).
Apple Scruffs
Every Night

Nice list! The Beatles certainly gave us plenty to choose from. More to come!
@@popgoesthe60s52 Yeah, there is a lot to choose from! Great mock up albums with all four of them from 71-74. Then it gets a little scattered as Lennon did less and less until 1980.
Gimme Some Truth was being worked on by the Beatles in 1969 so it's a legitimate choice: I would put it in.
Id buy it. Very cool, Matt.. I'm a CD guy, because I gave all my Beatles vinyls my little brother.. All we need in carnival of light!
What about Come And Get It...written for Badfinger.
These instead are songs - like you know - that were written when they were still formally together (that we know were composed before the official breakup date), and that could make an album after "Abbey Road" without writing anything new:
McCartney:
"Maybe i'm amazing", "Every Night", "Teddy Boys", "Junk and Singalong Junk", "The back seat of my car", "The Lovely Linda" [and also wanting "Another Day", "Hot as Sun/Glasses", "The palace of the king of the birds"].
Lennon:
"Child of Nature (Gelouse Gay)", "Oh my love", "Look at Me", "Gimme Some Truth (Give Me Some Truth)".
Harrison:
"All things must pass", "Wah-Wah", "I'snt a pity", "I'd Have You Anytime", "Let It Down", "Run Of The Mill" [and also wanting "Sour Milk Sea", "Not guilty", "Circles"].
After all, we would have had another excellent, albeit "approximate" - given the situation -, Beatles album ^^
They certainly weren't lacking in material! Thanks for your list.
Really cool choices. Nice job, man. Great cover concept too!
Side One:
1) Jealous Guy - John
2) Not Guilty - George
3) Another Day - Paul
4) Look at Me - John
5) Junk - Paul
6) All Things Must Pass - George
Side Two:
7) If You’ve Got Trouble - Ringo
8) Give Me Some Truth - John
9) Come and Get It - Paul
10) Circles - George
11) Teddy Boy - Paul
12) Cold Turkey - John
@@popgoesthe60s52 ✌
Great cover and song collection. I can't think of any improvements. Now if only we could go back in time and get them into the studio to record these songs together. Then we'd really be rocking.
There already is a cover for a never to be Beatles album, which you have titled Beatles '70, and this is the photo used on the Blue album, 1967/70 on the balcony at EMI. I'm not convinced about ending or including Cold Turkey on the album. Give Peace a Chance would have fitted well with all four Beatles at the period so closing out with that was an option.
The photo used on the Blue album was intended for Get Back, the original title of Let It Be.
Linda McCartney took that photo
Agreed
Side One:
The Lovely Linda
Instant Karma
Maybe I'm Amazed
My Sweet Lord
It Don't Come Easy
Junk
Beware Of Darkness
Working Class Hero
Side Two:
Every Night
I'd Have You Any Time
Love
Oo You
What Is Life
Another Day
Isolation
My Mummy's Dead
The album opens with the little snippet "The Lovely Linda" with the flowers in her hair - with that cutesy giggle at the end... and then blasts into the album proper with Instant Karma's drums leading the way.
Great track listing! I like the surprise ending too. Very Beatley!
This is great. I’m definitely going to listen to the playlist in Spotify. 🤟🏽

This was fantastic! Great job, thanks for posting this
I do often wonder if i am the only one in the world that absolutely hates Maybe I'm Amazed. :(
What a great idea for a video! That "album" really stirs my imagination. If it had existed in 1970, it would probably have stood alongside Abbey Road and Pepper as their best.
Thank you, Steve - glad you enjoyed it!
That's so great. I'd love that album jacket for my Beatles vinyl collection.
Thank you for the comment. I may offer some of these jackets when I develop a membership subscription. These Albums That Never Were are expensive to print and a pain in the ass to assemble so I’ll have to figure out a way to best offer them. Stay tuned!
I've heard that "It Don't Come Easy" was actually a publishing gift to Ringo from George (who is soul author of the song)...
That is untrue. That story has gained steam when the George lead vocal of the song came out as a bootleg. Ringo is on record saying that he had much of the song and lyric written and George added to the arrangement and obviously production.
Nice. I believe G. Harrison co-wrote 'It don't come easy' and even recorded a guide vocal track for Ringo.

Thank you! As my channel grows I may be able to offer some as giveaways as part of a membership subscription. Stay tuned!
Great track selection, Matt ! Would make for an excellent album.
Peace!!!
Let's definitely end on 'All Things Must Pass'
It's far superior to 'Cold Turkey'
Early 1970 doesn't make much sense, as the song wouldn't exist without a Beatles breakup. Not sure what to replace it with though.
I’m the Greatest maybe? It was a song John wrote for him
@@jennifersman7990 I like the idea but I think John wrote that in 1973.

I may do a DC5 band history at some point. My list is very long! Thanks for the request.
Forgot to add to my comment.
Really excellent album cover you made! Wow the front cover, combining different photos, is flawless!
Thank you. That was a fun one to do. It's tough to do group photos of them int he 1970s, that's for sure.

You're a liner note writing natural! I grinned all the way through your reading it. Wasn't "The Ballad of John and Yoko" written or close to being written by '70? Such fun song, almost like some of the pieces on the White Album. I'd kick off the album with "What Is Life", though.
Thanks, Michael! I have another Beatles _Album That Never Was_ coming next month, so stay tuned!
I think Paul, John and George all released solo songs superior to the Beatles.
(LOL)
PAUL: Now we'd like to carry on with a song that's on our new LP.

Not a bad selection. I would have swapped out some songs most notably “early 1970” out and “what is life” in .

@@frankfrank7921 I stand corrected
Pretty cool, nice job. Would have been hard to follow up Abbey Road which was their actual last album. Neat cover.
I love this What If section! Great Idea!
Thank you, Kyle - more to come.

I actually made a CD of this...not only featuring solo songs from 1970, but everything that I think has that Beatle-esque sound...so, here it is,
The Beatles: Back Together
1. Maybe I'm Amazed
2. Instant Karma!
3. My Sweet Lord
4. Jealous Guy (wrote by John in India, as Child of Nature)
5. Another Day
6. It Don't Come Easy
7. Imagine
8. What Is Life
9. My Love
10. Band on the Run (this Wings tune was so like a variant of A Day in the Life)
11. Isn't It a Pity
12. Power to the People
13. Love
14. Photograph
15. Oh Woman, Oh Why
16. All Things Must Pass
* I'll stop there, going by the max amount of songs in an album back then...tho, for my CD, I also put John's Oh My Love, Paul's Dear Boy & Ringo's I'm the Greatest.
That's my What If...Beatles reunited and did another album, all four, together again...after Let It Be..before John died.
Love it Arturo. You certainly hit the highlights on this one.
@@popgoesthe60s52 thanks... check out my other lists on your other videos and tell me what u think of the ones u didn't pick... love sharing this with a fellow fan. 🙏😁
I LOVE THAT COVER
ABRAHAM AMAZED by APOLOGETIX a great parody of MAYBE I'M AMAZED a great parody for everyone to look up
Good list the first two tracks were exactly the same as mine too!
One could make a "Beatles" album every year up to about 1975, when John pretty much stopped. Then they could "come back" in 1980 with John's songs as well as the others.
Your album as well as others would still sell like hotcakes.
If the actually release something like this it would totally sell! Thanks for the comment, Jon.
The Beatles: "Apple Scruffs"
1 - My Mummy's Dead
2 - Every Night
3 - Beware Of Darkness
4 - Hold On
5 - Love
6 - Maybe I'm Amazed
7 - Behind That Locked Door
8 - Apple Scruffs
9 - Working Class Hero
10 - That Would Be Something
11 - I'd Have You Anytime
12 - Junk
13 - I Found Out
14 - Oo You
15 - Isn't It A Pity
Nicely done!
Great record - I'd make a couple minor changes...
S1 - Instant Karma/Beware of Darkness/Maybe I'm Amazed/Love/That Would Be Something/Apple Scruffs/Cold Turkey //
S2 - It Don't Come Easy/Another Day/Let It Down/Hold On/Every Night/Isn't It a Pity/God
if they stayed together...I'm sure most of these tracks would've ended up sounding much different than what we got on their respective solo records! Something like Apple Scruggs/ATMP could be much much different
