    Cyberpsychosis IS treatable, therapy helps and as Dorio said at the start he could go "lite spec" so you can get some cybernetics that put less strain on you. In the game there is a series of quests where you capture cyberpsychos for them to be treated. I think tech in this universe is high enough you could probably get some organs regrown...for a price. Usually though once the symptoms set in the person becomes dangerous and it's hard to get people into treatment before it all goes south.

    • @pedrohenriquedasilvaroque1085
      @pedrohenriquedasilvaroque1085 Год назад +13

      Cloning and cryogenics are so cheap and efficient that replacing organs and limbs with cloned ones is about the same price as cybernetics. People prefer cybernetics because it goes beyond human capabilities. For example, a cloned limb would be genetically the same "age" as the genetic sample used to create it, in addition to being "only" an human limb, whereas a cybernetic prosthesis comes with props. Also the symptoms of Cyberpsychosis vary from person to person, after all, according to Mike Pondsmith, it is a mixture of dissociation disorder, nervous breakdown and sometimes roid rage.

      @@pedrohenriquedasilvaroque1085 Yep. Cyberpsychosis actually is only partially to do with the actual implants. Otherwise all the borged out Corpos would be all going insane. It's just that there's a very clear correlation between the amount of implants you have and how violent a lifestyle you lead and therefore have a much higher liklihood of being traumatized/having tons of mental stress, since like you said, cybernetics let you break pass human limits.

      If I remember correctly, Regina asks you to take down cyberpsycho's so that they can look into ways to treat them not necessarily that they already have a way to do it. Yeah, cyberpsychosis is, essentially, an alienation of the self; of being human. Therefore there are two ways to avoid ending up a cyberpsycho even with tons of chrome. One is to have something to keep you anchored to your humanity, like a loving and supporting partner or therapy; the other is to just not have a sense of humanity in the first place like Adam Smasher. Ironically, in her efforts to protect David from Arasaka, she ended up more or less killing him, since she wasn't there when he actually needed her to keep him sane.

    I believe that the game says (in the Regina missions for cyberpsychos) that cyberpsychosis is the product of the combination of (mostly) mental trauma and (partially) the cyber implants, so while getting a bunch of implants does not do you any good, it is mainly the mental toll of trauma that seals your fate.

    • @pollin522
      @pollin522 Год назад +13

      As I understand it, it has to do with a perceived loss of humanity and a lack of support. As people replace bits of themselves with machines, they can start to see themselves as not quite human. If they don't have a network of friends and family to help them, they can start to lose touch with their own sense of self, eventually leading to cyberpsychosis. Because most cyberpsychos are people who are heavily augmented, they tend to be very hard to subdue without killing them, and they tend to be violent. However, in the rare case that a cyberpsycho is taken alive, therapy and removal of the cybernetics can help bring them back to some semblance of normalcy. People at risk of cyberpsychosis and without anyone to lean on can see therapists to help keep them grounded and sane, but many don't know or care to sake out help.

      @@pollin522 Realistically "cyberpsychosis" is likely a term created by the executives running these massive corporations as a means of removing blame from their involvement and also further dehumanizing the populations. It's most likely just a mental break due to extreme situations combined with a loss of self and a lack of a support system. However, due to the augmentations these people put their bodies under its increasingly more dangerous to have a mental break, since you pose an immediate threat being a walking bio-weapon. If you call these people cyber-psychos, you're further denying their humanity, reducing them to a bunch of augmented parts. I mean what human wouldn't break putting their mom into a vending machine for their ashes?

And so he knew his time would be up sooner or later (his end of the road metaphorically,) but you see him watch David go ahead, farther than he ever could, and he was proud of the fact.

    16:44 From what ive heard and read, the shitty release cant be blamed on the developers working on the game being "shit at their jobs". More so the blame falls on the extremely tight and essentially unrealistic deadline they were forced to meet due to the board of investors who run the studio, dying to cash out on such a highly anticipated game. They were doing MILLIONS in pre orders, and the corpo brain profiteers who run the show with their wallets, wanted their return investment lol.
    I could be completely wrong, but with everything we know/hear about these types of corporations over working their devs, and forcing them to work under extremely excruciating constraints and deadlines, I'm a firm believer in the idea that this falls on them(the board) just forcing the game out TOO EARLY when it just wasnt ready.

    In the game, V was packed with way more chrome than David or Maine. By how much chrome implants were in the body, V should've gone cyberpsycho long ago, but CDPR confirmed that the reason why V doesn't go cyberpsycho is because of Johnny being stuck in the head and absorbing all the negative effects of it. Johnny's chip was killing V, but it is also true that Johnny's psyche helped prolong V's lifespan and prevent the effects of cyberpsycosis from taking over.

      There's also the fact that V is primarily a video game character, by which I mean he was meant to be OP, breaking the rules of Mike's universe. For example, people made a list of the implants he had before the regalia, and even using the 2020 version rules for status (which goes up to 10) and the red version list for humanity cost per implant, V would be bordering cyberpsychosis since the beginning of the game, even if he had the highest possible empathy value.

      @@pedrohenriquedasilvaroque1085 True, but it is also a fact that they're in 2077. Techs and implants in 2077 won't be the same as those in 2020 and other games. In due time, things could get updated and improved to make it more tolerable to people... like how cars went from 10mph in 1886 to 300+ mph in the present day. I'm pretty sure that the implants in 2077 would be more tolerable due to better technology than the obsolete predecessors of 2020.
      But then again... like you said, he's the protagonist and was made to be the greatest and strongest merc of Night City. So it could be either of it.

      @@hrthusagar Red takes place in 2045. It is most the last one since cybercykosis, being canonically a mixture of dissociation and mental breakdown, has more to do with the individual's psychology than with the technology itself. A proof of this is that the first cases of cyberpsychosis in the Cyberpunk world occurred in people with simple implants and/or artificial organs, due to the horrible situations of life and working conditions. Cyberpsychosis was further explored in the new rulebook, as well as what causes you to lose humanity, in the case of cybernetics it is more the act of putting cybernetics than the technology itself that costs humanity, as the person is willingly removing a fully functional part of itself and replacing it with cybernetics.

Like A-Train in the Boys. Plus, he was pushing away anyone that disagreed with him. With nothing to ground him, Maine started slipping into psychosis. A hint of things to come...or a warning? Lucy WAS scared...and that thing in the back of her head was a MAJOR clue. Don't worry, it'll get some backstory. Though, that implant is hardwired into the brain. Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith tends to use steroid abuse as a comparison for Cyberpsychosis. A combination of cultural and personal factors contribute to some people being inclined to become addicted and behave in a certain way. It's just psychosis, but centered around technology and the feeling of dehumanization people feel. Some people are more inclined to violent lifestyles and have fewer emotional supports, and they're likely involved in a career based around violence which requires more and more chrome. David Martinez grew up with his mother and was attending a reputable academy, but has been able to adjust to his new life showing he's very resilient. That said in episode 1 he shows he's very defiant and inclined to push himself if he thinks it is what can get things done and also thinks highly of his ability to get around the rules. Some people just get an artificial organ and go Cyberpsycho but retreat from society and become isolated. Most people, however, are able to handle their chrome and hit up Brain Dance therapy centers because some cyberware can be as easy as going to the mall to get your ears pierced.

    Cyberpsychosis is just normal psychosis that’s enhanced due to so much chrome enhancing an individual, that’s why I prefer BioWare. The most prevalent thing about cyberware is that more cyberware typically means more of a chance of cyberpsychosis, or specifically, a deep dependency on cyberware. Certain characters have VERY low cyberpsychosis, some have far more like Maine. But members like Johnny silverhand, Morgan black hand, V, most cyberpsychogangs, all have low level cyberpsychos, where they are pretty normal, but slightly off and slightly more violent and prone to acting on the fly

      @@mattimeikalainen6963 okay so when it comes to smasher, it’s actually stated by the creator he is a cyberpsycho, just extremely high functioning and violent, from being crazy before getting chromed in the first executive war.
      The monks in game actually do have cyberware, but the mental issues usually stem from NC and it’s environment. Characters like V are immune to cyberpsychosis due to the effect of the relic and Johnny, but Johnny himself was a high functioning cyberpsycho, who did have violent outbursts rarely, blamed on his alter ego known as the hand. But Morgan blackhand used almost no cyberware besides eye lenses and a sandevistan if I recall, and still was a cyberpsycho, but strangely NOT violent at all, instead his cyberpsychosis essentially made him go on sprees of finishing solo missions without killing.
      All of this is why I personally prefer BioWare (and it’s hinted in the new update we might be getting some finally!!!) it’s more expensive than most cyberware, but they can all be used together, give complete body enhancements, and are only SLIGHTLY weaker than the BEST legendary cyberware when used all together, and doesn’t cause cyberpsychosis.

      Don't know about the game, but when i read up on why david is "special" i thought it's all about the empathy stat. Implants take away the empathy stat and with it they lose humanity. Davids is high, because of growing up with the love and stability from his mother.

      @@lukasal91 yeah that’s true! Usually dependency towards liking or needing cyberware like David speeds up the process of cyberpsychosis, essentially any chrome can make cyberpsychosis, though usually the more dependency on it, the more crazy it makes you.

      @@pedrohenriquedasilvaroque1085 well Johnny is specifically stated to have his cyberpsycho persona the hand, which he would blame all his bad cyberpsycho outbursts on, coming from Mike himself, and Johnny according to him also said Morgan was “just as crazy, but focused it differently”

    Going off from the "forgot to hang up"-part, what's stopping anyone from having touretts on call? Thinking is nowhere near as coherent as speaking. There should be all sorts of immediate thoughts like people bursting into singing "that girl is on fire" after reading "girl on fire" for example.

      Favorite? Kinda surprising for me. I watched it, but the bad german pronunciation and bad grammar that seemed as if they google translated it all themself instead of having anyone that actually speaks the language working on it made it icky for me throughout.
      Plus i got bummed out over one of the dubs, don't remember which, using the german word "sensenmann" and missing out on "grimm reapers".
