this was just so sad to watch... the way david is finally experiencing the incredibly unfortunate circumstances you have to go through as an edgerunner... :(
That horrifying moment where David is in Sandevistan mode to escape but can't help but witness maine get torn apart in slow motion and he's just screaming in terror and disbelief is just oooof
@@朱育正-o7b yeah, even when i started the show i knew from spoilers the one character i liked the most was going to die. And it still hit me hard when that time came
This is the beginning of the end. Thats Night city for you. You either survive as best you can or you die. Even the corpo personal are not safe as you saw with Tanaka's son. His injuries were ignored by his father to get david to come back. All for the good of the company.
I had to take a break when I tried to marathon the show first time I watched it. Maine was my absolute favorite from the crew. My lord I couldn’t express how devastated I was. He was there for the crew, especially for David. At anytime. Even when he snapped, he still cared. It was heavy.
This show fucked me up😂🥹😭Seeing how much Maines mind was seeing everything makes it so sad it reminds of people who get dementia😭Also not wanting to tune down on the cyber ware is for sure a pride thing and a devotion thing imagine being a bad ass gangster like Maine having to downgrade when these mods are visible.People will see you ass weak it’s a ego shot and it’s literal other gangs will see you getting weaker. On top of all that we seen from David the pain in the procedure to get this modes implanted it makes it feel like a literal can’t turn back moment it’s sad.Glad your liking the show love your reactions!!❤️🔥
I love how the episode opens with Maine running through the desert seemingly endlessly. He's been running his whole life, and in his final moments he passes all of that on to David.
Also works for Lucy's intense emotions for David in this episode, given how much of a focus they are. She's emotionally on fire. I think it relates thematically to the opening! You know, "This fire is outta control"
One of the most insane episodes I've watched. Kai Ikarashi is such a legend of a director. The artwork of this episode is just so intense and detailed.
Just some insight from the creator of this world, Mike Pondsmith, "I tend to treat cyberware as an addiction--heavy anabolic steroid use being my favorite model. Not everyone who juices ends up crazy mad with roid rage. But those who are more susceptible to the need to take more steroids are more likely to hit a point where they do flip into roid rage"
Mike Pondmith, the creator of the franchise has compared the path to Cyberpsychosis to Roid Rage; after a point you're too addicted to the feeling of being stronger that you don't want to go back.
You kinda get the feeling early on in the show that things aren't gonna go well so I was scared of getting invested in the characters, but I decided to anyways when I got to this episode 🥲No regrets but man it hurts. I love these characters so much! I just want an alternate reality where they're all just chilling together in a slice of life!!

"What, you expected a happy end? Wrong people, wrong city."

Yep, nobody has a "good" death in that world, they just die. Something amongst those lines is what keanu reeves says in the game
No happy endings in Night City
People are well known and prepared the fact that cyberpunk stories has to be a tragedy
But they still hit hard when they do......😢
@@Wukey that

Johnny: "What, you expected a happy ending?"
Johnny: "Here, for folks like us? Wrong city, wrong people."
That's how an addiction looks like. The feeling of "I can handle it", and this anime and the dystopian world in general nailed it perfectly. 10/10

You either die a choom (RIP Jackie) or you live long enough to die a legend (RIP Johnny)
Girl on fire is about Dorio's pyre.

You asked about the name of this episode: "Girl On Fire". Well, just look at the huge "bonfire" that Maine made for Dorio.

Hope you enjoyed the other half of the show. It's a trip!

Such a good episode. Tragic but well done

"It's the end of the line for me"
Pain.
