I had a BMW as a rental and discovered this feature. I was like "why isn't this car creeping forward when I take my foot off the brake!?!?!" then I saw the "Auto H" icon in the instrument cluster, and it all made sense. Awesome feature! I now own a VW Golf R that has this feature as well, and I'm not sure how I ever lived without it. So convenient at stop lights and in a drive thru!
You give the best reviews man I have a 2020 X5 and I haven’t had a chance to learn all the bells and whistle‘s so I’m so glad I found your page keep up these videos man they’re very helpful
Thanks. The information is helpful and current for the 530d that we have just become happy owners of.
i love this feature when going thru a drive thru or heavy stop and go traffic.
Great examples. Practical applications start to become apparent once the driver is aware of the feature and how it works. Glad to hear you're enjoying it!
Thank you for all the videos, they helped specially for a first time bmw owner.
Ibrahim Alhowaish good to hear they're beneficial. Let us know here if you have any specific questions and we'd be happy to assist you

For those who don’t have this feature, be glad because replacing the parking brake actuator is not cheap when out of warranty. DIY & you’re looking at a weekend affair. More electronics, more can break. I rather have mechanical hand break.
Yeah, but Auto Hold does not use the hand brake, it holds with ABS
Might be useful in wet and snow also like the hill so on. Like you said mr video guy 👍🏻
Glade i have this cool auto hold on my mazda cx5 2018
Its possible to add this function adding the Park button with the auto hold on a car that is not equiped by factory? I have a f11 that doesnt have the auto hold but has the electric parking brake only. Thanks
Despite what the video says, I don't believe the system actually applies the parking brake. Rather it just prevents the footbrake releasing when the pedal pressure is removed. Having played with mine, when the car is stationary on autoH then the stop lamps are still lit at the rear. This should not be the case if only the parking brake is applied. I have a UK spec car so maybe its different elsewhere.
Also, in the manual for the car it states that "This system automatically applies and releases the brake, for example in stop/go traffic." This is very misleading as it implies that the car will brake for you in stop/go traffic which is not the case!
Toomanybits1 you’re correct it uses the brake, a lot of cars that have DSG have it due to them rolling back etc etc 👍🏼
Hello. On my ex x5 e70 when i remove my foot from the gas pedal the car detects reversing backwards and applies the breaks regardless if i step on the brakes or not.
I am surprised on my current x5 f15 the car doesnt do this! It only keeps tje brakes activated after i step on the brakes, if i dont step on the brakes, it rolls backward. Is this normal?
Ok, this could be useful in a traffic light. Ex. : I step on the break, i want to stop, and the "autohold break" kicks in. If i step on the brake lightly and then release, ¿the "autohold break" would kick in and stop abruptly?
Paldies
I have an X3 F25 LCI and have a question whether Auto H can be used when making a reverse on a steep drive way. Your response would be greatly appreciated.
When using this Auto H feature, does the brake lights stay on until you press the gas pedal as if you were holding the brake pedal ?
on my Golf R it does

Yeah, I've since found out that it does also on my Stinger. Thanks.
Hello! I have a few questions about bmw f10 lci.
1.Is it possible to switch this auto hold permanently? Every time I start engine i must press this button (a little bit annoying)
2.I have a problem with usb. I sent some data(music) to usb flash drive. I created some folders also but i cant see them in car (navi doesn't read them?)
3. i have some scratches on navi screen (on this special anti-reflection coat) How to fix that?
thank you, videos are really helpful

BMW series 3 doesn’t have that? Because it has manually handbrake.
Is this on the console or dash? The tight foto doesn't offer a lot of perspective
Makinja on the console, below the shifter
am appreciated
