Freestyle Skiing - Ballet / Acroski - Breckenridge Colorado - 1980s

Late 80s, many clips of dozens of ballet skiers. Includes short interview from Park Smalley, Jan Bucher, and Lane Spina. It appears to be from 2 competitions at Breckenridge--one World Cup and possibly a Nationals.

Great stuff.. Got to love the 80's as far as frestyle skiing. I pursued the mogul sking aspect of freestyle. now at 45 the turns are little slower. The ballet part I could never find the equipment. Do you Twin tip skis could do it?

You can do this. I began practicing on 99cm skis, then graduated to 135’s and on to 150’s. I can spin, do nose blocks, nose block 180’s, nose block 360 combos, butters, etc.
The 150’s are super soft skis.

This sport is kind of an interesting idea, but the skis make it clunky and the snowsuits convey all the grace and romanticism of a NASA mission, which is probably why it didn't go anywhere. Cut the skis down to something like 18" (tops) and make the suits out of something thinner and you may have something.

Телевизионные операторы очень плохо снимают БАЛЛЕТ. Они снимают половину тела с головой лыжника а нужнл снимать или целиком спортсмена или его ноги и лыжи!!!
