- We all need something to look forward to. A little hope in this world.
For me my lifeline was looking forward to my first break from treatment. For two years I've been at the hospital every week for something - CT scans, bloodwork, chemo, etc. And hey - no complaints because I'm still here enjoying this glorious life ... but it has been a long two years and a break sounded so good.
Well the day came that my doctors all agreed I am doing so well that a two cycle break seemed feasible.
Two cycle break! that's almost 6 weeks of no chemo!!! So naturally I headed to the mountains. Dreaming of it has been what has sustained me.
Today would have been chemo - but today is no chemo cuz I'm on break! so what better way to celebrate all that I have been through in the past two years (7 surgeries and 30+ rounds of chemo) than going for a hike and a bike ride in the same day.

Fantastic scenery. Well done on getting there. You didn’t give up on your dream to get back to special place. You worked hard to achieve that dream. You,are managing your cancer to get the best out of what time is left. Thanks for the message of being kind to ourselves. It is important to remember not to give up due having bad days. Keep pushing but be gentle on ourselves.

I chose not to have children - thankful for that choice today as I cannot imagine going through this with kids.
