Thank you for this, sincerely. I’ve been waiting for it since 1986

I came out of that film changed. I didn’t think this time had anything to show me. At 9 I only listened to classical music, read books by dead authors, I was always alone. There was nothing about these times which spoke to me. Labyrinth blew my mind. I could sense the subtexts back then, I would have given anything to have help to make sense of it, back then, thanks for doing it now, better late than never!

Exceptional work. Very hard to find an analysis on labyrinth so to come across an hour of content on it was awesome. Not waffle either. You made great points. I always knew Sarah to be in the wrong when speaking to her Stepmom but couldn't articulate as a child, I just knew I had been in her situation and felt she was the character to relate to. Solid work man.

I appreciate the time it took for you to breakdown the film. I cant deny that I am a bit biased to the film as David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly star in it. And the Soundtrack is a FANTASTICAL MASTERPIECE. I will also say tho that I am most like Sarah, unfortunately for people like us we have to be shown instead of told that we are wrong. I suppose thats why the ending does bother me alittle aswell. Yes she had some growth, but as a currently 27 year old hopeless romantic and dreamer, I was disappointed nothing more was said or done about the relationship she had with Jareth. And i couldnt really relate to her too much there because I dont have a brother. However if someone took my mom or my dog away from me i would feel the same way. Honestly Jareth is my dream man too. Someone who can wisk me away, take my worries and responsibilities, love me, care for me, and in return I would try and be better for them, happy and forgiving. Also cmon, David Bowie is freaking hot in this. I swear I was born in the wrong generation thats for sure. I loved your takes on the movie and you did it respectfully too, most reviews usually make fun or light of what its about and its characters but you saw its value. Thank you very much for making this for us. It was a really interesting listen :3 God Bless you and take care in all your future endeavors.

These are some lovely insights! Labyrinth had fascinated me for quite some time, and I satisfied it only yesterday. Suffice to say I am starved for more of it and the interpretations of others, lmao. I never thought about some of the parallels with Hades & Persephone; those were interesting points to make. I love seeing both the allegorical and literalist interpretations, both are equally fun to delve into! The way you explain the final confrontation with Jareth makes a lot of sense and puts the whole ‘fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave’ into more perspective with that interpretation. It definitely makes me want to do a rewatch again soon, a notepad or something out aside, maybe after I’ve read that comic series or something. But the worm at the beginning is the best character, no debate. Can’t go wrong with a cuppa tea. Labyrinth is so whimsy and fun, dreamlike in state and spirit backed up with simply stellar artistry. A shame Henson passed so soon after its release. Regardless, this film has left a resounding legacy and young people as myself are still able to stumble upon it and be captivated all the same.
One last thing, I will never forget the absolute whiplash of ‘Magic Dance’. I still have no idea what that scene is for and if it was just an excuse for that David Bowie energy, but damn me if I don’t appreciate a room full of goblin puppets awkwardly stumbling and throwing things to try and dance, and the friggen baby just. Staring at the camera with no clue what the hell’s going on around him.

I thoroughly appreciated your insght into this amazing film. Both The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth are one of those films that the older you get the more you appreciate everything about the film. When I was a kid, I was overwhelmingly fascinated and terrified at the creatures and the dreamlike landscapes. As an adult and a manga artist I can immensely appreciate how David Bowie is the perfect casting for Jareth, his face, ahir and makeup make him look like a real life anime character that I am willign to bet he inspired an entire generation of bishounen artists in Japan.

Thank you for the brilliant video its more like a ode a loving tribute to a movie that i realise after watching part on it did influence my life. I struggle to grow up even now I struggle to let things go akd and mostly enjoy my fantasy world. I actually have used the line you have no power over me to controllong narcissistic people. Right now I wish I can escape these times and go back to when I was 14 and see the movie all over again. I saw it when it came out in 1986 and dragged other friends to see it again. Whod of thought now at 51 I would still discover something new about Labyrinth and myself experience with it and thats just after watching part one. About to gather my emotions together and watch part two now. Thank you again.

It's been a while since you updated anything related to Labyrinth and I look forward to the next 13 hours when this part 2 completion will be available for all of us to view. I need to even go back and check and see if I saved part one of my favorite playlists but for sure it's been a long time coming I'm happy that someone is finally updating their videos such as this on Labyrinth I look forward to when it gets done and completed in the next couple of hours. I hope we'll have something to comment or say about it.

The Peach = I saw the parallel of Snow White as both fruits were offered by someone they should have been able to trust, both sending the consumer into a Deep Sleep.

Labyrinth is actually a prime example of monarch programming MK Ultra mind control, where Jareth is Sarah's handler.

Completely random/trivial question: why were there chickens running around with the goblins in goblin city/around Jareth?

Hoggle is a lot like Gollum from Lord of the Rings. He's physically unattractive and definitely someone you wouldn't want to trust. But Sarah has no choice, she needs his help (because of his knowledge of the Labyrinth) just like Frodo and Sam had no choice but to trust Gollum. They'd PREFER it if he wasn't around but know they need him if they want to accomplish their main goal and defeat Sauron.
