The gruden had this team rolling
It hasn’t really been a 20 year stretch but I get your point I’m frustrated too but with the firing of AP it shows they’re still trying to get things back on track

Been frustrating for a decade or two or three or four. Impossible division right now, but perhaps, maybe if we find a young Lane Kiffen type, then perhaps/maybe/hopefully we can play the long game as our opponents all have older coaches, although Harbaugh could be at the top of his game for 20 years. KC and Denver do have older Head Coaches. Let’s play the long game and BUILD SOMETHING.

Yahoo! Congratulations Raiders for keeping the dysfunction going! We now get our 9th HC in 14 years! That is a new coach and staff every 1.5 years. Mark Davis personifies the meaning of insantity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Atta boy.....move the goal posts for another 2 years. Keep hiring and firing these coaches. Maybe we can escape the 2020's with no playoff wins and take it into 2030. I thought with AP we'd be in the playoffs by 2026. Nope, now it will be pushed off to 2027 at least and before then, we will have fired AP's replacement and his replacement after that. Keep it rolling Baby!! Then he got a raw deal at qb and the D lost almost all the stars this season … but he still had them playing hard . Best of luck to AP, he deserves better than this mess.
Harbaugh should have been the coach several times over the last decade .. but Davis always passed and made the wrong choice. Heck he should have called him when the 9ers fired him … AL would have !!

So what Hondo is saying in a nutshell is:
☑️ Davis is picking the next coach if AP is fired and NOT letting the GM make the decision…
☑️ Davis has just figured out that being DETAILED is important…
☑️ Davis is listening👂to other people around him…
☑️ Davis hasn’t even met with AP yet…
❌ Literally EVERY decision Davis has made since 2011 has been terrible. Including not backing the only good coach he had in Gruden..
    🗑️ Sounds like a great owner 🤦‍♂️

The last four games should have been devoted to "seeing what they have" in Desmond Ridder. That, in all likelihood, would have resulted in getting either Sanders or Ward in the draft. Instead, because they don't have a QB, they cannot attract top head coaching talent. This organization is committed to incompetence.

They have no quarterback, and are unlikely to get a quality QB in the 2025 offseason. There are holes all over the roster. Kind of fascinating Mark Davis - the guy who says he doesn't know that much about football -- has been doing the hiring and firing of football coaches.

According to Hue Jackson it was Mark Davis not Reggie McKenzie that made the decision to fire Hue. Mark made the decision to hire and fire Del Rio. He made the decision to hire Gruden with a 10yr contract. He made the decision to hire McDaniels then fire McDaniels. I don't think since McKenzie's first 3-4 years has a GM had control over team personnel and managing with the Raiders. It's either Mark and/or the HC.

Why is Mark Davis involved in the HC decision?!?! I understand Telesco’s history with HC’s (my speculation is the Spanos family had more say in the Chargers hirings but again, speculation) but we need to start running an organization properly. Allow the GM to find his guy and hold the GM accountable if it doesn’t work out. We need to stop the excuses if people fail or fall short of expectations. Finger pointing is a lot easier when you don’t allow people to do their job properly. Mark has proven to make bad decisions. Mark hired Telesco, that’s his roll. Now let Telesco do his job to the fullest. This is why we have had dysfunction for so long.

The inability to recognise and keep the talent that you have is a major knock on any staff. There are a fair few ex-Raiders that could have been kept, but are now starting or playing significant minutes for other teams, and there are several "bad" players that have been signed to extensions or FA deals. Thankfully, there have been fewer of these idiotic off-season decisions in the last 2 years, but it took until week 5 to realise that O'Connell was clearly the best QB on the roster, and it took more than half the season before they even gave Sincere McCormick a shot in the total failure of a backfield - this does not breed confidence that the best decisions will be made to improve things for next season.
They have to re-sign Koonce, Butler, Moehrig, Chaisson and Spillane, and they should try to keep Abdullah, Hobbs (great but injury prone) and Deablo.

The Raiders are known for doing stupid stuff. Hiring Tom Talesco after Antonio Pierce got him fired was stupid. Getting rid of Josh Jacobs and Davante Adams was stupid. Hiring Mike Vrabel after firing Josh McDaniels would be stupid. Why hire another Patriot coach after there was almost a mass exodus of fans because they were becoming Patriots west?
Firing Antonio Pierce after Tom Talesco tanked the season would just be another stupid move. Let's at least try to get another franchise player on offense and let Pierce have a real season and not one where everyone was hoping for the highest draft pick possible.
I realize the team will probably make the stupid move again because that's just what they do now.

He certainly isn't listing Mr. Hondo. The Davis family has had so many abject failures of how not to manage an NFL organization over the last 41 years. It is an abomination of managerial ineptness on a grand scale.

Go to his Jan. 19th 2024 podcast at the 40:18 mark and listen. He does these kind of things quite often. SI, get us someone trustworthy please.

was lucky to have witnessed four SB appearances and three SB wins gotta say outside of the early 80's teams this organization has been a dumpster fire. It starts with the front office and trickles to the abysmal product on the field. Not sure how long this fan base can continue buying into the narrative that things are gonna change for the better.

Any hot coach or hot offensive coordinator is not going to want to go to a franchise where the owner gets rid of coaches as fast as Davis does, especially if we don't have a hot QB on the roster, so he may decide that Pierce is the best coach prospect he can get right now. The perenially crappy franchises, including the Raiders, are characterized by lots of coaching changes if winning doesn't immediately happen. That's what destroys their cultures and makes them so hard to turn around. Hard to turn around, plus too many coaching changes is the story of Cleveland, which the Raiders have emulated in the past 25 years.

Agree 100%. They gave up too soon on AP. But we like to fire the HC every year or two. I'd like to see who Davis is going to hire that can motivate players more than AP. X's and O's knowledge you can teach. Experience you can gain. Motivational ability is a God-given talent not bestowed upon every HC.
