I’m in town but back onto a farmers field. His field floods our backyard because of the slope. Our neighbour has been trying to get the farmer to install a drain system to help but it never happened. He told us to complain to the township so he would do it. We moved in 5 years ago and I dug up all the burdock along his field edge and planted raspberries. No more flooding!!!
I really enjoyed this video because you seem to enjoy your garden, which can get lost in all the work you need to do to create the garden. The joy of it is something I've made myself focus more on recently. Thanks for sharing!!

If you plant fruit trees, plant Rhubarb under them. Its a biodynamic regulator. When the leaves turn brown, mulch them on top. The roots & leaves feed the tree.
My garden is my happy place! To commune with God, relax and enjoy nature He created. Those extra blackberry you can dig up and move to other parts of your property if you really want fruits all over. We do that each year and I'm already finding more that I'll transplant in the fall. I just found your channel and you have so much planted together and I love that! My garden is getting that way. Loved watching this. You're hilarious. For figs, the female flower is inside the fruit, lets out a scent that attracts a wasp, and she pollinates the the fruit. The blackberries are called canes, or generically referred to as a briar... a thorny stem, like that of a rambling rose. I'm sat here in the UK still not officially past our last frost date for a few weeks yet, and I think you have more heat now than most of our average summer temps. Our Blackberries are still in bed lol

Vision, when I was a kid someone long ago, had planted red raspberries along all the field fences. They had grown into huge arching lines of bushes that outlined all the fields covering the hidden barbed wire....it was was beautiful and amazing! Highly recommend ❤

I use those little windmills from Dollar Tree all over my garden and it seems to keep out the voles /moles very well as they don’t like the vibrations. About your fig tree, I believe if you just put another one nearby you will have a lot more figs. That’s what happened in my garden in Georgia. Thanks for the video! Mine is much like yours, 7 acres, lots of variety, not much weeding but trying to keep the ground covered.
I got that “I grew this” feeling last year, I grew tomatoes, peppers and bush beans! I was so proud of myself! This year I have planted Garlic and onions (red and yellow) I can’t wait to see how they grow! 😊

Figs need full sun to fruit, and heavy mulching in the winter months - do this and they will go crazy, I would actually move it out of the garden because it will overtake it.
You should go check out the homesteads in Tennessee Colony,Tx( close to Palestine.) I hear they have homestead groups over there, like a ton of 5 acre tracts for dirt cheap
You mentioned hornworms. They get huge , almost pinky finger sized. The ones who eat on mulberry trees are safe for bearded dragons to eat and are usually sold in my area for close to $2.00 each for that purpose. There are also some that feast on tomato plants and poinsonous to bearded dragons. They are a soft hairless catepillar , meaning no fuzz. Fuzzy caterpillars in my area sting and some folks are highly allergic. Hornworms that feast on mulberry can be a source of income if raised in the right conditions . Might be worth doing some research on them.
Just make sure to do some research and perhaps speak with a reptile breeder for all info on the worms/ feeder insects before jumping into it! Something simple like feeding a bug the wrong foods can easily kill a reptile. Hornworms are my beardie's favorite food !

LOL = = = = = = = = = Also, in reply to the question about figs... here's something from HGTV's site on that. **Do you need 2 fig trees to get fruit?** _Figs are self-pollinating, so you don't need multiple plants to get fruit- but you do need to avoid crowding plants if you're adding more than one to your yard. Some fig varieties have invasive roots that may damage pipes, sidewalks or driveways._

Sweet pea has always been one of my all time favorite scents and I legitimately 3 days ago realized I could grow them and bought seeds today to hopefully plant outside tomorrow after they soak overnight. I looked it up and the hornworms turn into sphinx/hawk moths/hummingbird moths.
@@BetterTogetherLife I haven't ever tried that but I was over 400lbs and have autoimmune disease....I had to cut a lot of veggies that flare it up. Peppers were the worst 😢😭 I love them....they don't love me. So .... I cut A LOT....there's few things I can eat so I have to vary the ways I cook them. Radishes made excellent "potatoes." I cut A LOT of carby veggies mostly. My a1c was over 13 at one point....now it's 6 and holding. I've come off a lot of meds. Especially pain meds.
I have mature mulberry trees (30 year old) they still produce their fruit…birds get to the majority of them , before my family does. I have made many mulberry tart pies w/the mulberry filling …I put into the pie crusts. I haven’t made them in 4 years! Keep well & enjoy gardening & transplanting! Bye👋

I tried for 2 years to get them to climb but I found they need a ton of nurients so inter planting didn't work. I dod how ever plant them in a hanging basket and fed them well. Sad you "neighbor" felt the need to put up that "wall". I guess their lifestyle isn't like yours. I wish we still had our family farm here in NC. It had been in our family since the 1700's and once covered half the county. In my great grandmother's will she wanted sold. I guess because none of her children wanted to be farmers. I would have. Born 2 generations too early. My point is, my great grandfather was best friends with his neighbor farmer. I loved the stories of the two of them. We do still own part of the farm as our family cemetery. That is where the history of my family will end.

Tomato hornworm turns into a Hawk moth or some call them a hummingbird moth. They are night flower feeders. They are beautiful.

Yes radishes roast, they are actually a good low carb substitute for roasted potatoes. They take on flavors really well and lose the peppery taste.
I have to say, we tried pickling them and I’ve never created a more foul concoction 🫣

Wait wait wait, how is your calendula so grown out already?! I’m in North Texas and my calendula got DEMOLISHED by some kind of pest! I’ve struggled to grow calendula and have only had success in the fall!
It’s on a MISSION! I planted a start back in February I think. Or maybe March. So it could be that!

Sad you "neighbor" felt the need to put up that "wall". I guess their lifestyle isn't like yours. I wish we still had our family farm here in NC. It had been in our family since the 1700's and once covered half the county. In my great grandmother's will she wanted sold. I guess because none of her children wanted to be farmers. I would have. Born 2 generations too early. My point is, my great grandfather was best friends with his neighbor farmer. I loved the stories of the two of them. We do still own part of the farm as our family cemetery. That is where the history of my family will end.
