I Bought A Liquid Damaged Switch On Purpose! Let's Fix It! I spent $175 on this damaged Switch and initially it didn't actually look too bad. There was only minor liquid damage that had to be cleaned up and it also needed the battery replace. Once that was done the Switch was back to working like it should... except the left joy-con wouldn't connect. Turns out it had some liquid damage too... even more than the actual Switch. After lots of cleaning the left joy-con is finally working again too and another device is saved from the landfill!

Pleaase can you tell me what is the problem ? ☹️☹️
My ps4 is not working great do u think u can help me
That was extremely satisfying.
Thanks Erica! Good to see you around these parts!
I love it when there are multiple hidden problems and he gets them all.
or was it extremely Satisfye-ing?
Hey everybody! That's Erica the technology nerd who also likes to watch people film stuff.
@@Tronicsfix plus you got like at minimum 5 "free" games that's lit
Great job, 🤴 king of game repairs.
Thanks 👍
Whus up tampatec
@@Tronicsfix wht is the solution u used to clean it
@@kevinkev1530 isopropyl alcohol
@@kevinkev1530 99% i think, he mentions it a lot on other videos
"I consider it sorta like my haircut, it isn't pretty but it doesn't have to be" LOL
Lol...glad you liked that part!
And also just after that "What liquid damage? I don't see any" :-D :-D
Hhaha that was funny
@@Tronicsfix I love that part I laughed so hard
I liked it
I have to say, over the course of the past two or three months, I've been watching more and more of his videos, and sometimes, he's able to do what he did here, and other times, he's unable to repair the devices, and they have to be used for parts. However, the one thing I appreciate above all is his thoroughness. He really looks at each problem from every angle, until he's ruled out all possible causes. It really makes these videos enjoyable to watch, b/c you never know how far he'll have to go to fix one of these consoles, but regardless, he'll do whatever it takes to either fix the problem, or understand what's wrong w/ the consoles he's unable to fix.
I feel like the price was pretty high for a known liquid damaged (one of the worst types of general damage) and non-booting Switch. It's more than 50% of the price of a brand new device straight from a store. This was a device that would be a total goner for a person without fixing skills, equipment, and spare parts (the battery), which ought to be why it was sold in the first place. The seller was really lucky you could use a patient just like this for one of your videos!
If you look at solds on eBay it's actually a decent price. That being said, I don't have to always try to get the best deal. I buy these to make videos about how to repair them. If I was just buying to fix and resell then price would play a bigger role in my buying decisions.
"It's automatic at this point", just like hitting the like button. :p
Must admit when I think water damage I half expect it to be a complete disaster, but that was just a simple clean and battery replacement overall. Like that your sponsor made sense for your content too.
I thought it would be way worse that it was!
I was almost panicking when it didn’t work the second time!
definitly. a sponsor with stuff for the video content is really rare
"I have saved another device from the landfill" I think that phrase is more powerful than anyone can think at the beginning, true to the core you are saving a device by fixing it. Great jokes, keep it up! Cheers to you and your family!
EXACTLY! It's amazing how much stuff we just throw out that's totally fixable with a little time and dedication! Saving the devices, and the Earth
I never even thought of this until he said it! It makes the magic he does 10x more satisfying when he manages to fix it!
He literally finds the most screwed up devices he can and I love it
Glad you're enjoying these!
In the spirit of DankPods: "SOMEONE'S BEEN IN HERE"
Lol...yep!
Beat me to it hahaha
One of the biggest problems of today is E-waste, so I'm really happy that you show people that things can be fixed. Keep up the great work.
$175 is kind of an exorbitant price for a liquid damaged Switch given that it can have bad screen, bad battery, bad controllers, fried SoC (or entire motherboard) and be irrepairable.
now that he fixed it tho, he gets to play all the previous owners games for free, and he got the sandisk, some free joy cons, and if he wants he can sell it for retail price.
@@hgrm4310 a risky investment with a high reward. Seems fair
In my case It kind of just healed? Just with worse baterry
@@hgrm4310 From what I've seen though, he doesn't usually resell liquid damaged devices at the same price as he does the rest, plus he explicitly states when a device was liquid damaged when selling it. Such an honest person
@@sinanaldulaymi4103 ok, i dont really care though, especially since this was 5 months ago
Great video. Managed to fix ours after watching. My son dropped it into a full sink. Battery connection was all corroded. Works 100% now. Thanks a million.
Great job!
I found you yesterday and can’t stop watching! You are amazing, my friend. Thanks!
Wow, thank you!
Bro this mans a legend
Hey thanks!
"Its not pretty, but it doesn't have to be"
i think that's like the funniest thing i've heard today
Ha, ha...now that's a compliment!
The Switch is adorable. I just love how fun and compact it is, even inside! That tiny little cooling fan is really cool (pardon the pun). Thanks for sharing!
"Saved another from the landfill", really appreciate what you're doing! Keep it up :)
I’m loving this two video a week schedule! Love these videos
I def can't do this every week but I try to do it sometimes. Glad you like it.
Normal person buying a switch with liquid damage: actually was drowned in a river
TronicsFix buying a switch with liquid damage: no liquid damage
Ha, ha...that does happen to me sometimes too. I just can't really make a video about that if it's only 2 min long.
TronicsFix i was just kidding, your videos are amazing and very entertaining. Greetings from Argentina!!
@@Tronicsfix You should drop this Switch into the bucket of water, let it sit for a while and check if you can fix it ;-)
@@Tronicsfix Would love to see a video of all the devices you opened up that were so destroyed, you had no chance in repairing them. Like a compilation.
yeah ture but it could be and imforative video in the way of how liqude damge looks on each part of a system under microscorpe and showing off one for each console would be kinda cool for ppl trying to learn waht a fixable amount of lqide damge i thought the back of the joycon was unfixable form a frist glace but it turned out to be fixable
I actually said YES out loud when the blue joycon show that it was connected. Awesome save!
"Water damaged"
**item literally ships in a barrel of water**
I'm glad I finally got around to watching this video. The little sponsor segment was enough to get me interested in it. Can't wait to improve my Switch gaming experience
I love how you explain the extra troubleshooting steps you take to guarantee the customer gets the best quality product! Keep up the great work! 🙌
I wish I knew how to work on the boards and stuff like that. I can take things apart and replace easy parts but i definitely don’t know how to deep dive problems like you. So cool.
Because of your videos I built up the confidence to buy a few broken Switches and used your link to buy the awesome ifixit pro toolkit. I want to say a big thank you as I’m really enjoying the new skills and being able to fix something that maybe be just thrown out.
Great video as always, helps to flow some IPA down the back of the battery to loosen the battery adhesive so you don't have to bend the battery pack as much.
One thing that would be sweet is that when you do board work could you mention the hot air / soldering iron temperatures, & tip/nozzel sizes? This kind of info is invaluable for those of use attempting repairs ourselves.
Thanks again.
Thanks for the help, just cleaned my water damaged switch with your help.
Next time on tronicsfix: repairing a nintendo switch dock with yogurt inside!
Ah yes "yogurt".
Lol..."yogurt"!
Nah it has to be GOGURT!
the day i find "yogurt" in or on a console, i will quit
Actually I just watched a guy repairing a 1979 pinball machine (part 3 of at least 4). Why doesn't it kick out the ball? Because there is a toothpaste cap stuck in the way. lmao!!! I about died laughing.
Excellent job. I bought a Switch Lite with water damage, and the battery was fried in that too (I even got the same boot loop sequence you did). So satisfying when you clean it up and get it working though. 😊
JerryRigEverything is going to destroy a Microsoft duo and TronicsFix is going to repair a Switch
XD
Balanced, as all things should be.
Great Job! You make it all look so "user doable"...fantastic service you're providing to the tubing public so do keep 'em coming!!
Thanks,
DT
Man, I don't even own a switch but they're my favorite fix videos ,lol
So glad you enjoy these!
i have been watching your videos for awhile now and what I like is your positive attitude and you get right to the problem. no going on and on about things that don't matter, right to the point. it makes the video short and sweet. I can watch 2 or 3 videos compare to another channel's one video. thanks
My man just roasted his own haircut 😭
Lol!
I feel like the "horrible lawn mower accident" cut might be the new hot thing! Who knows?!
Dad jokes make the world go 'round.
@@VmpyrDavid Ha, ha...agreed!
Thanks to you and a ton of other RUclipsrs have inspired me to start trying to fix things and I love it!
Great to hear!
Wow how statisfying to see this one getting fixed. I always thought that liquid damage could not be repaired but boy did you teach me a lesson there. Nice one again Steve keep up the great work 👍
I like the soothing aspect of the way you talk, with getting to watch these kinds of repairs get done. Thanks for your content, I enjoy it!
8:42 WARNING DAD JOKE INCOMING
hahahaha!
That was actually kinda cute though
@@petrescuework-difficultcas6581 yea it was kinda funny
You are my console repair hero. You have inspired me to read and learn more about fixing broken consoles & handhelds for my personal collection.
This is the most selfless man on the internet
I’d like to get that charge meter! Have a store front? I say it would have been easier to first try a different JoyCon instead of taking the switch apart again! Assuming you had spare JoyCons! Thanks for the video!
Dude, I CHEERED out loud after you finally got the left joypad working, great job!! :)
Awesome! Thank you!
I watched 1 of your videos 5 hours ago. Can't stop watching them. Great job! 👍
Love the shirt Steve. That about sums up my life. Gotta get me one of those.
Ha, ha...glad you like it!
Going through back catalogues of Switch repairs is so satisfying! This noob just bought 3 with different faults and can guarantee i'll be knee deep in corrosion soon! Thanks Steve!
Do u put any solvent on the brush when cleaning out the liquid damage on the switch?
10 months and no answer? I’m gonna guess it’s rubbing alcohol 🤷🏻♂️
You know the stars are aligning when two of your favourite RUclipsrs post 2 different videos of your favourite type of they're videos at the same time
Don't give up now, you are too young!!
Continues giving cpr to a joystick with a toothbrush...
Nobody is a better console fixer than him 💯🙏🏿💙
What a Video on wensday? I like it.
Yep...last Wednesday and this Wednesday.
I like seeing you fix the joycon too. That was cool.
I’m waiting for the PS5 and Xbox Series X teardown lol
Me too!
Nothing more satisfying than watching TronicsFix repair video in this afternoon. Another switch saved.
So glad you like them!
im surprised by how "water" damaged this is!
I was also surprised about how little damage there was.
“ I’m here because you broke something” truer words have never been spoken
Midweek video!!
YEP!
I find it so satisfying getting stuff fixed. Man, you make it look so easy ..
there are way too many dad jokes in this video... do you have anything to tell us?
I mean...I am a Dad.
Awesome work. Now someone can enjoy this Switch and it doesn't have to go into the landfill.
I am very happy when you can fix the Nintendo Switch and learn a lot from your videos. Thank you
You're a cool dude, I'm always happy to see a sponsor on your videos.
I'm sad watching these switch videos cause I can't afford one but o love watching u work the xbox controller one was one I wish I found before I thrown the old one away
So nice that someone finally decided to make some good-quality accesories for the switch.
Agreed! That's why I was glad to take them on as a sponsor!
This was like punching the TV to make it work and then saying that you fixed it. Great video! :)
Greetings from the UK, great video! fun to watch and see how to fix broken machines :)
Hey, thanks!
i've never seen sponsored content i can vouch for even once before today. i got one of those grips a couple years ago and its worth it 1000% if you play handheld at all.
Its a joy to see these videos and fix these devices
Great repair as always Steve, keep it up 😁
For the Switch that was pretty easy and having spare battery made that simple but that joycon sure wanted some attention. Wish I had your skills as it sure would be a great hobby to fix and resell consoles.
Thank you for saving this Nintendo! Man, loving your vids!!!! Amazing skills too!!!
Thermal paste. So satisfying.

Amazing video! Glad to see this stuff as I will be purchasing a used nintendo switch just because I kinda want it to be damaged just so I can revert back to everything I learned on this amazing channel and apply it 😁 thank you for another great video and I look forward to the next one!
