I learned off you tube and have never taken a class or know anyone who knits. I’m doing good I learn from lots of people. Thank you for this video now I can block projects I have finished.
Hi Claudia! I was wondering whether you ever have problems with dye running in the hot water. I recently blocked a red/green/white christmas (acrylic) sweater in warm water, and saw that the water was tinted pink. I panicked and took it out quickly before the white yarn could be stained. Now I’m about to finish a superwash merino sweater with white and dark colors and am nervous about staining. (The yarn’s washing instructions say not to use water above 20 degrees C, but I’ll go with your recommendation!) Thank you for all the amazing wisdom and tips you’ve shared! I discovered this channel a few days ago and am already seeing improvements in my knitting 😊
If you are using a superwash wool, I don't think the temperature will make a big difference in the blocking so you can block at a lower temp as suggested. As far as color running, that's why I always make a swatch and block it before I start a project, then I know before hand if the colors are ok together.
I went over to TikTok to see the comments, and the ones I read are really sweet and cute. I think I'd you continue in that tangent you might be the next "hoof trimming" channel but for knitting lol😂
Hi! I have a question about blocking. I just finished a tiny cardigan. Should I block first and then add the buttons or the other way around? And also, I used drops merino extra fine yarn for the cardigan and the washing instructions say to not soak. Does that mean I can't block it at all?
@@Qiwyn I don't think it makes much of a difference. I would do what makes you the most motivated to put them on! I usually block first and then never put on the buttons cause i just wanna wear it! haha
@@cloknits Okay, thanks! I was just thinking if the result is more even/precise when adding buttons after blocking. But if it works either way, that's good. I can block it now that the weather is fine and warm and leave the buttons for later. 😄
Im glad I've been doing it right over the years
I would love to see the actual blocking process!

That also how I learned way way back.
I am fortunate to have a perfect blocking area....a pool table...it has a faux-leather cover, and it's a good height 😊
That's a great spot! My dog wouldn't try to lay on it all the time.😂
Thanks I had no idea I should be using hot water to soak my garments before blocking. I’ll do that next time.
Try it and let me know if it makes a difference.
I am follower on you French channel . See you talking about this cardigan . But your TikTok made me want to knit this .
Thanks for coming over to hear me talk about it some more!

I might 😂
Heated tile floor! What a great idea 😊
The best!
Am I correct in assuming blocking is not just a one time process? You would use the same process after wearing the garmet to wash and dry it?
Yes I always use the same process. I only wash my untreated wool sweaters once a year and give them the full spa treatment 😉

I sincerely have no idea why it says not to soak. Maybe because of possible color bleeding? I would soak for 15 minutes like I do for all my knits.
@@cloknits Thanks! But what do you think sewing on the buttons. Before blocking or is after blocking better? 😁
