I wonder if the silence _after_ the song really happened or if it was edited that way. Don’t get me wrong, the performance was ethereal and deserved that kind of mesmerized silence-but this is a TV show and they construct the episodes to be compelling entertainment, not impartial documentaries. (For instance, if anyone is performing magic or something like that and they don’t have any music for their act, they add music in postproduction to “sweeten” the performance.) If anyone was at the show themselves, I’d love to know if this really happened.

I saw this song performed when it first aired. It took my breathe away. I watch a lot of audition videos (and beyond videos) and have recently started watching reaction videos. Your videos are some of my favorites. You are sincere and truly respond from your heart in the moment. That's what we need more of. For people to react in a moment and be okay with showing their own vulnerabilities just as many of the artists do on these various shows.

Sorry Dee, You talked through the best part of what Howie had to say about Brian and how it touched him as he had mental health issues and was not afraid to share that. It was so profound, how one thing shared, even with the famous, it confirmed a gift given to one, to be used by another. The sole purpose being able to touch people sometimes to heal them is profound. Brian..I hope you see the confirmation of your wish as you said to Jorge when asked what you wanted to do with your music...without skipping a beat you said, "to touch people with my musIc." Howie told the world, by word and his facial expression, how he related to you, and the lyrics of your song, and performance. Brian, I hope you see the treasure here, a confirmation of your wish. God has plans for you. Howie and you both shared pain in your lives and both of you turned it into a beautiful healing experience by the roads you took to recover. Brian both he and Simon paid you high compliments. Simon said your singing combined with your performance and interpretation of the song was " Breathtaking". Simon the ultimate talent expert. Howie, felt it was OK for him to be different and he and we all matter no matter how weird we ..all are. He felt your song was for him a right of passage. God has a plan for you. Don't think you aren't being used in the gifts given to you. Brian your a SHOWMAN 1st Class. A stunning talent, and why you didn't win, is mind boggling. Dee, listen to the four (4) other performances he chose going into the AGT Finals. That package of 5 songs, with a warm up person, little happy talk by Brian, a tiny comedy skit incorporated with a song or a duet in between a new song and there we have a BROADWAY SHOW. How he didn't win AGT, is hard to believe and yes, .....he's the whole package. I'm so happy for his Mother, that she and other family get to share and see his success. I saw Barbra Streisand as a kid, out with my brothers and school friends. I just started Nursing School. I had skipped a grade so I graduated H.S. early and younger. We were at the Village Vanguard. On AGT, Brian said he wanted to be a singer, and wanted to touch people with his music. He most certainly got his wish. In all his AGT Final Performances, this quality stands out. He captures the listener and doesn't let go. All four of his final choices were show stopping, for his Vocal Quality, Timing, Interpretation, Stage Presence, and Performance. I was reminded of Barbra's performance years ago, and how I felt. She however began to sing in a loud club setting, with waiters pouring water, people talking at tables, and other club noises. In short order, she COMMANDED their presence, and the room stopped! BJC did this also. This is how I felt upon hearing Brian for the first time. He had the audience enraptured. Every song had that quality. I couldn't stop playing those songs and listening. Creep and Man in the Mirror were tearjerking and Michael's Mirror was particularly courageous on Brian's part. As I recalled, people looked to Barbra on the small stage and listened. She finished her song to absolute quiet, for a minute or so, and then the house went wild. This same reaction to BJC. Barbra and I were around the same age, or so I thought. I come from a musical and theatre family. She lived in Brooklyn, around Nostrand and Flatbush. I was north of the Village, W16th St. She said she rehearsed on her apartment building roof at night! Her mother was supportive but there were issues about her singing in the house. There was an elderly Jewish man, who played a violin. He would come out on his nearby rooftop, and play when she was out singing. She loved that he did that and I was so touched that she shared that with us. I felt she must have lived with criticism and pain of lack of acceptance. She was so touched that this man would want to play his violin with her. It was a heart touching story as she told it and as I intuitively read it. She answered with that story when I asked if she had musical or vocal accompaniment when rehearsing. It's strange the things we remember. She was so freightened looking, petite, in her sans stage makeup days. She wore a long skirt and sort of a peasant blouse tucked in and caste in her eye, and I thought she was pretty,, not at all glamorous. However, after fame came, I never saw her when she wasn't absolutely beautiful, especially when she was singing. We were at the village Vanguard, and I remember her party had about three people and a particularly noisy man, who as it turned out was Elliot Gould! Didn't know him or his career then. Also, years later, I saw Bette Midler with my husband. She was new to us, a very comical fun person..and then she sang. OMG, she was so terrific and so like Streisand as I remembered, I thought she would never make it, as we had Barbra! Don't remember what club she was in then. My late hubby and I saw her at home few years later on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. My hubby reminded me we had seen her and who she was She was just as funny as ever with her outrageous stories, and then she sang. She was just sensational. We agreed she was on a new level since she made the Tonight Show with Carson. So many of their wonderful hit songs, and performances..... made it all worthwhile. We lived North of the village, and I grew up with boys and 1 sister. Got to do a lot of things with my siblings and we were in the village with them and some of my new school mates and friends. I was drinking shirley temple's! Anyone remember them? OMG.....such memories!

Sorry Dee, You talked through the best part of what Howie had to say about Brian and how it touched him as he had mental health issues and was not afraid to share that. It was so profound, how one thing shared, even with the famous, it confirmed a gift given to one, to be used by another. The sole purpose being able to touch people sometimes to heal them is profound. Brian..I hope you see the confirmation of your wish as you said to Jorge when asked what you wanted to do with your music...without skipping a beat you said, "to touch people with my musIc." Howie told the world, by word and his facial expression, how he related to you, and the lyrics of your song, and performance. Brian, I hope you see the treasure here, a confirmation of your wish. God has plans for you. Howie and you both shared pain in your lives and both of you turned it into a beautiful healing experience by the roads you took to recover. Brian both he and Simon paid you high compliments. Simon said your singing combined with your performance and interpretation of the song was " Breathtaking". Simon the ultimate talent expert. Howie, felt it was OK for him to be different and he and we all matter no matter how weird we ..all are. He felt your song was for him a right of passage. God has a plan for you. Don't think you aren't being used in the gifts given to you. Brian your a SHOWMAN 1st Class. A stunning talent, and why you didn't win, is mind boggling. Dee, listen to the four (4) other performances he chose going into the AGT Finals. That package of 5 songs, with a warm up person, little happy talk by Brian, a tiny comedy skit incorporated with a song or a duet in between a new song and there we have a BROADWAY SHOW. How he didn't win AGT, is hard to believe and yes, .....he's the whole package. I'm so happy for his Mother, that she and other family get to share and see his success. I saw Barbra Streisand as a kid, out with my brothers and school friends. I just started Nursing School. I had skipped a grade so I graduated H.S. early and younger. We were at the Village Vanguard. On AGT, Brian said he wanted to be a singer, and wanted to touch people with his music. He most certainly got his wish. In all his AGT Final Performances, this quality stands out. He captures the listener and doesn't let go. All four of his final choices were show stopping, for his Vocal Quality, Timing, Interpretation, Stage Presence, and Performance. I was reminded of Barbra's performance years ago, and how I felt. She however began to sing in a loud club setting, with waiters pouring water, people talking at tables, and other club noises. In short order, she COMMANDED their presence, and the room stopped! BJC did this also. This is how I felt upon hearing Brian for the first time. He had the audience enraptured. Every song had that quality. I couldn't stop playing those songs and listening. Creep and Man in the Mirror were tearjerking and Michael's Mirror was particularly courageous on Brian's part. As I recalled, people looked to Barbra on the small stage and listened. She finished her song to absolute quiet, for a minute or so, and then the house went wild. This same reaction to BJC. Barbra and I were around the same age, or so I thought. I come from a musical and theatre family. She lived in Brooklyn, around Nostrand and Flatbush. I was north of the Village, W16th St. She said she rehearsed on her apartment building roof at night! Her mother was supportive but there were issues about her singing in the house. There was an elderly Jewish man, who played a violin. He would come out on his nearby rooftop, and play when she was out singing. She loved that he did that and I was so touched that she shared that with us. I felt she must have lived with criticism and pain of lack of acceptance. She was so touched that this man would want to play his violin with her. It was a heart touching story as she told it and as I intuitively read it. She answered with that story when I asked if she had musical or vocal accompaniment when rehearsing. It's strange the things we remember. She was so freightened looking, petite, in her sans stage makeup days. She wore a long skirt and sort of a peasant blouse tucked in and caste in her eye, and I thought she was pretty,, not at all glamorous. However, after fame came, I never saw her when she wasn't absolutely beautiful, especially when she was singing. We were at the village Vanguard, and I remember her party had about three people and a particularly noisy man, who as it turned out was Elliot Gould! Didn't know him or his career then. Also, years later, I saw Bette Midler with my husband. She was new to us, a very comical fun person..and then she sang. OMG, she was so terrific and so like Streisand as I remembered, I thought she would never make it, as we had Barbra! Don't remember what club she was in then. My late hubby and I saw her at home few years later on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. My hubby reminded me we had seen her and who she was She was just as funny as ever with her outrageous stories, and then she sang. She was just sensational. We agreed she was on a new level since she made the Tonight Show with Carson. So many of their wonderful hit songs, and performances..... made it all worthwhile. We lived North of the village, and I grew up with boys and 1 sister. Got to do a lot of things with my siblings and we were in the village with them and some of my new school mates and friends. I was drinking shirley temple's! Anyone remember them? OMG.....such memories!
