Alex Peroni is lucky that sign and that fence were there. If he had come down and hit flat on the pavement he'd be in BAD shape.
I mean he still was in bad shape after that crash, but tbh I don’t think it would have been more serious considering the F3 cars were running the halo
What makes this crash even more scary is the fact that this was the first race after Hubert died in F2.
He barely hit the sign. He obviously went under it… obviously.

The vertical G must be insane for such heights, it proves how safe modern motorsport is most of the time
I promise you, no one is walking away from those accidents uninjured, even if they feel ok at the time. They’ll be feeling those accidents in the decades to come. Ask me how I know. Herniated/bulging discs, spinal stenosis, neuropathy. Old age isn’t kind to racers.

I was actually at Silverstone when that first crash happened! The crazy thing about it is that it came just seconds after ANOTHER massive crash, when Jehan Daruvala flipped onto the top of the tyre wall right in front of me and landed upside-down.
1:21 The video shows one accident, but that weekend there were three, all involving Mercedes cars, and all with cars flying!

I know this list is non-fatal, but some of the highest cars I've ever seen were from the crashes of Marcell Albers, Jo Bonnier, and Jim Rigsby. Their cars went at least a dozen feet in the air, it was crazy!

The fatal crash of Takashi Yokoyama has stuck with me because of just how extreme it is, a poorly timed caution on the front strait of Suzuka caused his car to go flying over a car ahead that had slowed down, the car then smashed into the overhead scoring gantry, nothing was left.

Since 2018, sausage kerbs have been obviously dangerous to drivers. Sophia Flörsch, Alex Peroni, Abbie Eaton, Sean Gelael and more have all needlessly suffered horrific crashes and spinal injuries at the hands of the FIA.
Ban sausage kerbs on racetracks.

0:45 I know a similar one happened at the Spa 24 in 2003 but no footage exists to one of the Listers, the car went down an embankment / ravine and the driver actually got lost on the way back to the pits in the dark.
5:41 This is genuinely I think the highest impact crash I have ever seen. And, it's a double-impact, twice the damage. This scared me when I first saw it ngl
There was another NASCAR wreck in the '90s, at one of the high-bank superspeedways,...a car got airborne near the outside wall in the turn and flipped through the air, cleared the entire banking down all five lanes, and landed on the apron. Half the field drove UNDER him. The camera angle doesn't quite show how high he was off the ground but 10-15 cars drove right under him while he flew.

I was expecting the LeMans crash, but you missed one of the greatest airborne crashes of all time. Sophia Flörsch had a massive airborne crash at the 2018 F3 Macau Grand Prix. On Lap 4, she made contact with fellow driver Jehan Daruvala, who was reportedly slowing for erroneously-displayed yellow flags on the straight between Mandarin Corner (Turn 2) and Lisboa Bend (Turn 3). This caused a front left suspension failure, catapulting her car into Lisboa Bend sideways at high speed, launching off Sho Tsuboi's car, through the catch-fencing and smashing into a photographers' bunker, before landing back onto the wheels. She suffered a spinal fracture needing 10 hours of surgery, but she made a full recovery.

When I was racing a '55 Chevy on the dirt track at Colorado National Speedway in the '60s, I had a left tie rod failure. The car was sharply pulled to the left and was sideways when I hit the inside berm of the track. The car rolled 360 degrees, and when the wheels hit the ground, the car launched into the air, some said 6 feet, some said 10 feet, so I figure 8 feet, did a half roll up there, came down on the roof and did another half roll on the ground and came to a stop. The impact on the roof caused the frame to bend over the roll cage. I remember nothing about the wreck. One minute I was racing and the next thing i remember is sitting in the back of the ambulance looking at my totalled car. I suspect that that was the highest ever altitude attained at CNS.
As much as I feel sorry for Mark Webber crashing, him throwing his steering wheel out of the car like a kid just gave me giggles.
I was getting worried a video like this wouldn't have Peroni's accident on it. But it was the last one. Massive crashes.
But then, hefest got, this run... (Iykyk), jokes aside those are some serious crashes, im happy you didn't include who survived which one and who didn't because i would probably have nightmares about it.

I watched Senna in his fatal crash and Roland Ratzenberger too the same weekend. Saw Zanardi get the front of his car ripped off which paralysed him. Also Justin Wilson get hit by a wheel and Barry Sheene at Daytona. Amazing that Sheene survived never mind go racing again!
Zanardi wasn’t paralyzed. He lost his legs.

I really wanted to get a mid-powered formula car, but my racing mechanic convinced me that they are only suitable for those who aspire to be pro drivers due to the much higher risk.
