Late Impact Crashes are a form of wreck where a driver gets hit after the main accident is over, or almost over.
Motorsport or motor sport are sporting events, competitions and other activities that primarily involve the use of automobiles. Historically, these terms have encompassed sporting use of other vehicles with a motor, including motorcycles, motorboats and powered aircraft

I am aware of the Lagano spelling mistake. I blame the autocorrect after years of spelling his name wrong lol
2001 for Alex, not 2000.
@@AustinLaPlante My bad
Of course theres a much bigger mistake in that clip.... not letting Poole keep his win
Appetently JGTC raced in Fiji, didn’t know that
@@AustinLaPlanteafter September 11th, still remembering
The fact that Alex Zanardi survived is a miracle. He literally loses both of his legs in seconds. Just couldn’t imagine how terrifying that had to have been.
The rescue team pulled off one of the greatest recoveries, their presence of mind saved him that day.
Wow I didn’t know that he lost his legs during the actual crash, I assumed they were later amputated in hospital or something. That’s just crazy
@@salandit7461Yeah there even were some pictures of the crash in the papers the next day, in which one could all the graphic details. Brutal stuff...
@@salandit7461 Bits of flesh are visible on the crash pictures.
Proceeds to go to the paralympics
That Fuji speedway crash was one of the scariest I've seen
Alex Zanardi's crash is insane. How he lost his legs and lost 75% of his blood because the helicopter forgot to take off but still managed to survive. It is one of the most gruesome crashes if you look at the photos.
And then surviving his cycling accident like 2 years ago, he's such a warrior!
Ty for uploading non fatal crashes!! It makes us much more watchable!!
2:56 That raw sound is like from a movie. Viscous
That's because it was added in. The video is full of added sound effects for whatever reason
2:57 the sound is crazy
2:43 how in the world did that 2nd car just detonate like that?
got fuel all over the car in the impact, porches have the engines in the rear
This video is a perfect example of something I always say about motorsports: “the crash is over, which doesn’t mean the crash is over.”
I sure hope there's a part 2, as there's plenty of other crashes that could easily qualify, regardless of how hard or light they were. Here's some suggestions
- 2014 Coke Zero 400: Kyle Busch and Cole Whitt (at the very end of 'The Huge One') (part of a much larger wreck, but this one has certainly stood out from the whole thing)
- 2015 Rhino Linings 350: Tyler Reddick and Austin Theriault (relatively light late hit that results in a massive head on impact to the wall for the latter)
- 2013 Sargent Security Phillip Island 360: Alex Premat and James Courtney
- 2013 Camping World RV Sales 400: Austin Dillon and Casey Mears (Dillon was already out of control, everyone else had already missed him...and then wham)
- 2000 Shell Championship Series Race 25 Oran Park: Paul Morris and Mark Larkham (late impact on an already damaged car, resulting in a massive fire)
- 2013 Jeff Foxworthy's Grit Chips 300 Practice: Joey Gase and Brad Sweet (car was literally stopped, then rolled forward into the path of the latter)
- 2014 5-Hour Energy 400: Justin Allgaier and David Gilliland (Allgaier was already spinning for a bit before getting t-boned)
- 2017 Go Bowling 400: Joey Logano, Danica Patrick, and Aric Almirola (Almirola being the late impact in an already occuring crash)
- 2013 STP 400: Kyle Busch and Joey Logano (Busch was already spinning for a bit, slid down the track, in the path of Logano)
- 2008 Auto Club 500: Casey Mears and Sam Hornish Jr. (Mears had already wrecked, collecting Dale Earnhardt Jr., other cars (including Hornish, who's hood was up on the windshield), and was rear ended by Hornish a little bit after, flipping him over)
Dang...mid '10s had a lot of these kinda wrecks, didn't it? There's probably more I haven't recalled at the time.
2013 Coke Zero 400, Brad K slides into Austin Dillon after Dillion goes into the catch fence

I can add another fire from v8 Supercars 2011 Karl Reindler and Steve Owen at Barbagallo Raceway in Perth
2:44 when I thought it was bad…. It just kept getting worse 😭
If Newman had won that Daytona 500, could you imagine what a career booster that would've been towards the end of his racing career? It would've been so awesome for Jack Roush too.
I was pulling for him so hard at the end, I love seeing drivers who haven’t won in a long time win. Then all at once it all went so horribly wrong.
ARCA-brakes in full effect here.
I have one wish though, audio-level correction. The third clip is so much louder than the others.
I absolutely love your content! Keep on going man!
That spa one was like dominos. One hit led to another hit, everybody hitting basically everybody.
All of those cars carry so much energy at those speeds...frightening when that energy is disapated on another car!!!
4:17 Back in my racing days they described 3 types of yellow flag situations; a standing yellow meaning proceed with caution; a waving yellow meaning proceed with extreme caution; and a waving yellow where the flaggers eyes are as big as dinner plates! This situation was certainly the last type which is why I can't understand how that other car came upon the scene so dangerously fast.
The compilation of arca brakes ft some other series occasionally lol
That's fuji GP is very spectacular
Was the explosion at 2:56 caused from one car crashing into the fuel tank of the porsche? The porsche is rear engined so I assume the fuel tank is in the front? Crazy that a driver could survive an explosion like that.
Your the best buddy, i hope u get 100k soon
At 3:00 that's was unbelievable, how could anyone even see the yellow
How could anyone see anything!
Great video once again. If the clips' volumes were adjusted so you don't get either jumpscared or understand nothing I'd like it even more. =)
2:04 there have been many late impact crashes on this track, and on this part of it. Mainly because its going uphill
Very nice crash topic. Two thumbs up
ARCA's time to shine

ARCA Brakes
I just can't watch Zanardi lose his legs again. Too brutal.
That Fuji one is like something from a film!
Ryan Newman has taken a few wild rides
That Foty/Glotzbach one still makes my heart stop no matter how many times I see it. The direct hit in the driver door and given their ages, this was an exhibition event with retired drivers
And that Zanardi wreck, I can’t imagine losing both legs in an instant and just what kind of pain that would be, if you’re not in shock or unconscious.
This accident of Zanardi is horrible, the worst of the list, even more so that it compromised the pilot's legs
thats a very nice way to put it considering how graphic the photographs are of that incident
I remember watching the first crash at like 4 am on ch5 in uk I was 12 at the time
Post Hubert crash, any crash like that at Eau Rouge/ Radillon is horrific.
May Antoine Hubert Rest In Peace
I hope everyone in those clips managed to survive and they are well today.
3:33 Peter Li Zhi Cong is his full name, Ryan Tveter was the other car he hit.
The first one I saw it live, it was pretty scary.
The fact that aitken was okay after that. Eau rouge is such a dangerous corner, lucky to be alive.
If you make a part 2, be sure to include Mike Harmon's Bristol crash.
I don't know if it would fit since the initial crash is already violent
Oh, big crash that scary, I remember some, But not others that I have never seen the video before, and Good/ scary crash/ got a fire video
Oh, Thanks
Bro has to put a disclaimer in the title 💀
Good livestream yesterday!
That second is where the term “ARCA brakes” comes from.
4:00 this exact same crash happened 10 years later during the Bathurst 12 Hour race.
In both crashes, no one was seriously injured, but the 2018 crash ended the race prematurely.
Don't forget that there was a near identical fatal crash in the 2nd tier series two years before the Weel one.
Rest in Peace Mark Porter.
@@shinystarmiestudios4179 that is true.
I'm sorry I overlooked that one.
It’s criminal that this secondary impact occurred 12 seconds after the initial crash.
It was entirely avoidable.
@@alias19 that is why new safety implements have been made. There are now warning lights stationed across the top of the mountain as a warning system, as well as a Motec system in the cars controlled by the flag points to signal the drivers in the cars directly that there is an incident.
No other similar crash has occurred simce
@@didgereemedia194 It only took them decades of racing and scores of wrecks to figure it out, so allow me to rephrase: “It’s criminal that this secondary impact occurred -12 seconds- *10 years* after the initial crash. It was entirely avoidable.”
Aitken still alive. I can't believe it.
That crash and burn at 256 reminds me of my poor cousins crash and burn in 1976.
Brennan Poole got robbed of that win.
These always scare me when the car has come to rest then is hit, as they might be keen to get out undo their belts then suddenly a hit
Honestly crashes like these are some of the worst. You're usually at a complete stop, and then a car just slams into you, which can cause devastating injuries. The best example of this type of crash would be Eric Martin's crash in 2002, but unfortunately he passed. Wouldn't have even happened if spotters were present, which became a rule after the accident.
L' incidente di Alex Zanardi e Alex Tagliani è del 2001...
2:57 - Wow I heard about this wreck. There's no way the flagman survived that. I know the drivers survived but the car caught on the fire Tetsuya Ota retired due to his injuries.
Is there a stream tonight
I'll do a poll
I have 11 years ._.
No crashes into stalled cars on the grid?
0:46 dude.
I watched the patrick sheltra wreck live. I thought for sure we had another fatality. Luckily both were alive with severe injuries.
Edit: Oh, it partially says in the video. Paused to comment.
5:51 Oh and ZANARDI OHHH WITH A TERRIBLE CRASH
For me sprint car racing is up there with motorcycles and rally for how insane you have to be. These things have 500-900 horsepower, and protection is a couple metal tubes
At 1:02, it's Skagit, not Skatgit. Many years ago I was driving a street stock at Spanaway Speedway. About 20 seconds after a red flag flew for a crash, a newbie driver ran into the back of my car. The father of this bozo comes to me after we are towed to the pits and starts giving me crap for stopping on the track. Hey Dick Tracy, did your kid notice the red flags waving and that all the other cars were stopped?
ONLYOH
None of those crashes were fatal.
lol 0:24
Why did you add in a bunch of Michael Bay shitty sound effects?
chris pither is a joke of a driver. achieved absolutely nothing
These accidents happen because the rest of the drivers 100% ignore the yellow flags and just keep their foot into it with no care whatsoever for whoever is crashed on the track already
