  • The Matatu culture in Kenya during the 1990s was a vibrant and dynamic aspect of the country's urban life. Matatus are minibus or van-like public transportation vehicles that have become an iconic part of Kenyan urban culture.
The Matatu industry faced challenges related to safety, traffic violations, and sometimes operating without proper licenses. This led to various attempts by the government to regulate the industry, but it continued to operate with its unique flair.

funny how 30 years down the line nothing has changed.. infact the matatus just increased in number, became louder and the touts became more arrogant, they were then joined by bodaboda guys who invaded all the cities and towns . The government never did any major development in the transport sector.
