Airbus has successfully performed the first fully automatic vision-based take-off using an Airbus Family test aircraft at Toulouse-Blagnac airport. The test crew comprising of two pilots, two flight test engineers and a test flight engineer took off initially at around 10:15 am on 18 December and conducted a total of 8 take-offs over a period of four and a half hours.
“The aircraft performed as expected during these milestone tests. While completing alignment on the runway, waiting for clearance from air traffic control, we engaged the auto-pilot,” said Airbus Test Pilot Captain Yann Beaufils. “We moved the throttle levers to the take-off setting and we monitored the aircraft. It started to move and accelerate automatically maintaining the runway centre line, at the exact rotation speed as entered in the system. The nose of the aircraft began to lift up automatically to take the expected take-off pitch value and a few seconds later we were airborne.”
Rather than relying on an Instrument Landing System (ILS), the existing ground equipment technology currently used by in-service passenger aircraft in airports around the world where the technology is present, this automatic take-off was enabled by image recognition technology installed directly on the aircraft.
Automatic take-off is an important milestone in Airbus’ Autonomous Taxi, Take-Off & Landing (ATTOL) project. Launched in June 2018, ATTOL is one of the technological flight demonstrators being tested by Airbus in order to understand the impact of autonomy on aircraft. The next steps in the project will see automatic vision-based taxi and landing sequences taking place by mid-2020.
Airbus’ mission is not to move ahead with autonomy as a target in itself, but instead to explore autonomous technologies alongside other innovations in areas such as materials, electrification and connectivity. By doing so, Airbus is able to analyse the potential of these technologies in addressing the key industrial challenges of tomorrow, including improving air traffic management, addressing pilot shortages and enhancing future operations. At the same time Airbus is leveraging these opportunities to further improve aircraft safety while ensuring today’s unprecedented levels are maintained.
For autonomous technologies to improve flight operations and overall aircraft performance, pilots will remain at the heart of operations. Autonomous technologies are paramount to supporting pilots, enabling them to focus less on aircraft operation and more on strategic decision-making and mission management. Развлечения
Yes bro. In fact,"An engine is the heart of the aircraft but the pilot is it's soul". good luck.
Exactly .their need will never fade .
Ya true
True thing mate
@Carnage Sacramento bruh...🤣
Why do you like to take a dig at Gaurav Taneja? He's explaining hes point of view. I respect you don't want to comment until investigation comes out but why soil what others are doing.
Also will you be making video against Air Asia now? DGCA's has suspended ppl post INVESTIGATION.
Now you have facts. Let's see if we see a video from you.
Who gets scared in starting of video and then relaxed at the last part of video???

My dream is to be a pilot thanks for keeping my hopes up
People think that as automation increases, there is no need for pilots... But actually it's the other way around... As automation increases, the role of pilots also increases accordingly as now they have to be more cautious than ever
you need more cautious but lesser pilots and why will they be paid as much as now? here, don't think of yourself as a pilot, thunk as a airline ceo, if you have purchased autopilot enabled planes and you still have to pay the equal amount to pilots, then why even will you purchase the planes? that is why, once the automation technology reaches a certain threshold value and clears the safety norms, airline owners will definitely start buying ATTOL enabled planes and then, very few pilots(only solo pilots) will be needed, because your job is just to check whether the systems are alright.
but global tourists are expected to rise so, yeah even in case of automation, planes are also projected to rise, so yeah pilots do seam to have a bright future.
@@anoopkumar8732 ture bro
@@anoopkumar8732 well maybe, becuase I read somewhere that folks at boeing are actually working on a commercial aircraft that only needs solo pilots....
But I don't think that the salaries of pilots will go down... Because if aircraft runs fully on autopilot, then it will be the more efficient which will make more profits for the ceo..so paying pilots or pilot will not be a concern..
@@anoopkumar8732 Solo pilots can never be allowed. You never know which dodo pilot wants to commit suicide on a particular day. Remember Germanwings crash 😢
@@17nirmalya exactly!
It is actually impossible for all the pilots to go
As many people won't trust their life on a robot
And there are many errors which a robot cannot solve but a person can
And it will also be more expensive than hiring pilots which is better
Nice bro
Exactly
@dragonwizard 2243 well you are partially right but as u see few vehicles do come with AI controlling them like cars and all
We can see even they aren't reliable
And giving a robot the life of 100 people is too risky
All pilots don't need 5 star hotel stay and all
It is decided by the airline where they will stay
And AI today aren't developed much
Maybe it will be possible in the next 50 years if it doesn't fail
But frankly speaking
An AI Controlling a plane isnt that good
PS, yes I do need my cookie
@dragonwizard 2243 PS
Pilots aren't just given a cpl after 12th
They gotta do simulation test
Many solo and training flights
Fitness test
And all
After that only they are given their cpl
@dragonwizard 2243 you know MCAS now can you fly on a pilotless 737 Max ?
I am in class 9 and as I saw this thumbnail, I got frightened as I have a sheer determination to become pilot.
Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed. If people all over the world...would do this, it would change the earth.

Thanks a lot tapesh. I was getting a lot of memes from my friends regarding this. And that scared the sh*t out of me.
Bro u r working i air asia as a captain , what is the reality of safety operation issue, why u not describe the issue ?????
@abhishek vishnoi kon c video bnayi h isne, link do bro
Read my full comment till the last. Yes because Boeing Boy is against FB, he supports Air Asia. He also takes part in there marketing videos, so I dont expect him to post a video against his company, would you? The video where he talked about AA case is How dangerous are flap 3 landings. In that video he gave calculations that are for a normal day, he didnt talk about various factors such as bad weather, wind etc. He was very biased and even in his previous video on Air India crash (he was targeting FB, I have seen his chat messages talking bad about FB, they were leaked on someones Instagram story). Even on Instagram he posted a comment on a aviation page supporting flap 3 landing.
Flap 3 is safe like other flap settings, various factors need to be taken into account and 98% flap 3 policy is very stupid and if pilots dont achieve it they have been threatened that bonuses will cancelled and also they will be sent for retraining. Any pilot and aviation person knows what FB said was right. Also i dont know if you know bro, FB lawyer has pointed a number of Air Asia pilots to DGCA and has asked them to retrain those pilots, he specifically gave an example of Boeing Boy.

The fact that most airports in India don't even have centreline lights till date is comforting for us because even if tom they decide make fully automated airplanes India's infrastructure is decades away from supporting it.
Ye captain mazedaar hai, funny hai aur kabhi kabhi darata hai. The pic should no more pilots? And I desperately want to be a pilot like Captain Tapesh. He is seriously an all rounder. Heads and thumbs up to you captain.

Thankyou sir for this information

Thanks for talking on such topic sir , that is why this channel is best, it tells everything point to point , and because it has tapshi
No matter how much automation occurs remember there would be living souls on a aircraft even after 50 years or 100 years so there are pilots required so MCAS like things won't mess up
Yess exactly my point
So good to see that u r so active in RUclips ♥️♥️
Thank you so much for this one ❤
I was thinking to become a pilot but I got tensed when you said that there is (@#djf) programs and I thought that if I become and thing can happen that I don't or every pilot will be unemployed but after that I feel relaxed.Very happy😂

Want your view on the suspension of top management of Air Asia
Oh...make it a dream because becoming a pilot is my dream
Bro Air Asia head got suspended by DGCA make video on that
The more the automation the more complex system and hence more studies and hence more salaries for pilots to handle such complex systems
nice video bhaiiii love youu
Love ur videos sir❤️❤️❤️
hello captain,
I want to know that if the flight is crash the airline company is liable to pay the balance amount to the manufacturer of aircraft?
Because the airline can take aircraft on lease...
Love the KIKI
Captain would tell once again how your 1st flight at your flight school with instructor felt like 😄...
Actually pilots are needed in the future. I had this alumni meet with a pre student in my school and he said even if robots or computers are going to fly the aircraft, human pilots are still needed in the cockpit.
Thanks bro
Very good video
Good topic sir
Bro make a cockpit stories of any emergency landing if attend by you..
Please ans this if all computerised system failed then you all come to basics then what will happen if it fails.
But can a comp handle cross winds how it can know about it n how the runways is hows its coundition it is elevated or which runway it is mountain airport n all human r alwys required for that 😃😉
Is rules are changing in 2021 for becoming a pilot ?? any degree required from 2021 ? we can't do directly after 12th ?
Hope you're well aware about flying beast channel mr. Gaurav Taneja a CAPTAIN of Air Asia plz do a video on that issues
He already did and its useless called flap 3 or something video is called, where he gave misleading information saying Flap 3 was safe, however it depends on various factors i.e. weather etc but he never mentioned that in the video, then why will Airbus give other flap settings? . He was sucking Air Asia **** and is against FB (Gaurav) since day 1, so no point asking him. He cant do a video on a legal case against his own company also, then his job will be gone for sure and he has been pointed out to DGCA by FB lawyer too. So he will be either retrained or something will happen with him as the videos he did from promoting his flight academy, the flap 3 videos are misleading. So action will be taken against him ( i believe) too or he needs to come out and apologize.
@@HG-hn3lh I agree with you bro
This is a valuable video..... I'm an Aviation enthusiast and planning to do Aircraft Maintenance course..... I do understand the importance of AP (Autopilot)
Captain Tapesh Kumar has proved to us in this video that a pilots seat and position cannot be taken or replaced by any sort of automation and technology in the world. Thank you so much Captain, to prove to all those who consider machinery over intelligence.
It will not going to happen right whether we should worry??
Compared to other fields we are on safer side right as AI takes so much of jobs by the coming yrs...
It's not a threat for future pilots right
Hey bro wot u say on 2 Officials Suspended of ur company

And please make the cockpit conversation part 2 coz I am depressed by hearing the air India express crash😭😭😢.and by hearing ur jokes my depression goes away sir 🙂
As a wise man once said " IF IT'S NOT BOEING, I AM NOT GOING"
SCREW AIRBUS AND THEIR AUTOMATION.
I would never sit on an Airbus ,today or in the future.
Bro you are giving such a positive vibe ❤️
Do all planes have autopilot mode?
How do the pilots know when to take off, means after how much distance a plane can take off smoothly in different airpots
swadesh dey they calculate n1 speeds and so accordingly get call outs for rotation
My motivator friend . your are so funny 😂😂
Bro how we can apply for pilot job in any commercial airlines in India please say what r the steps and make a video about this please
Make a video on why the parachute suite were not given to passanger in plane if anything goes wrong
Sorry it's off topic ....can u please help me how u creat that insta video
It’s undeniable, there won’t be a need for a copilot. There will be automation and a human supervisor (for a time) which will decrease the need for pilots. It’s why it costs $60,000 + to learn. Which sucks, I have always loved the air and the sea, but scuba diving jobs are hard to find and flying jobs cost insane money to earn very little for the first few years. =(
Pilots r the soul of flight
So will the sallary may decrease for pilots
Cruising with an autopilot is fine but atleast the beautiful Takeoffs, Landings and Taxi should be hands-on for the pilot! These are things where the pilot could show his skills and they are well trained for doing it safely. These are the things which in the first place bring the spark in a person to be a pilot! The fun of flying would be just lost with this advancement!Someday in future maybe pilots might monitor the commercial planes using a Tablet/PC/mobile (basically drones) just by sitting at home, but all that fun of layovers, travelling the world is gone. It will be no less than work from home people doing currently . Avaition is surely gonna benefit from this but the developers of this technology are gonna benefit majorly and maybe the engineers to maintain it! Role of pilot reduced. A day might come when even those developers and engineers won't be required. That career option is gone too! Basically it will be like the movie WALL-E. I hope the higher authorities keep the " Being Human" thing in mind and allow the usage of this technology in harsh conditions only.
I agree
I'm relieved
Bro Will there will be no pilots in the future😨.My dream is to become a pilot in Airbusa380 Emirates

Plz make a video about condition of aviation and pilot requirement after corona
Every automatic procedure requires a little manual approach.
Why do pilots vertically take off is there a reason

Sir can u do a video on health requirements for a pilot?
Brother, what is the scope for freshers as JFO? As most of airlines want to hire SFO or captain only
Make any video telling about new dgca mpl licence
So if it becomes automatic..then salaries will reduce??
What if some problem come in aircraft
No one will then board aeroplane as passengers cannot imagine a plane without a pilot
