    I have been photographing jewelry for the past 20 years. I thing that covering jewelry with white paper makes it lifeless and flat. Shiny metal surfaces look better if the reflect some of the surrounding ambient (in a controlled way). Also I switched to Olympus and macro lens because of focus bracketing, this way you have automatic crisp focus in all parts of the jewelry.

      Are you a prof photographer? I'm a metal smith/ gemologist, artisan creating one of kind Jewelry. I don't have all week to take pics. It make take mos to create one pc. I don't sell others brands. Think this great info. Maybe when I grow up like Bulgari? I'll hire a pro.😊

    Hi, Thanks for sharing. Do you prefer Autoretouch, an AI-powered image editing tool to automate the clipping path, background removal process? I have heard for bulk editing it is so helpful to reduce time and effort. Need your opinion.

    I invested in a led light box. I shoot jewelry that is made of glass..............the problem is that I can't find a way to keep the reflection out of the image. I need suggestion on what I can do. I am at my wits end on this!!

      Try to find the source of that black reflection and create sparkles or whatever suits the best in your case

    Perfect hints... no question! But please give me one little answer: Why
    jewelry is NOT shot in front of BLACK background...??? (Almost 80% of
    jewelry has got WHITE background) I don't understand the reason or the
    effect.

      because than the lower part of the jewerly is then also black cause of the reflection.

    Thanks for the video. I have learned a lot with this simple way to jewerly photography. Sometimes we make things so complicate when it ist so simple to do... How do you clean the Wax from Plexiglass after the shooting without scratching the plate? Thank you very much.

      Jose Crespo Fotero wipe it with a paper tissue and throw it away after, don't use it a second time, you will leave smudges

    Идея крутая, но камешки не блестят. Если в том белом конусе сделать небольшую дырку и через неё посветить, может тогда будет блеск.

    Good overview of the issues. But if you sell items under $100.00 too much time and fiddling. Need handheld, set up stations, assembly line. Time is money.

    Все круто, но ! Камера должна быть закреплена надежно, иначе ничего не выйдет при стэкинге. Далее, камни нифига не заиграют при таком свете. Нормальных градиентов не получить на металле. И зачем тогда все это ? Коммерчески конкурентную картинку не получить, без долгого и нудного сидения в шопе )

    I don't understand why you teach wrong? I've seen videos of you using a column tripod !! How in this video do you put the camera on an unstable base and make a video like that? For batch shots one of the secrets is the stable camera on a tripod.

    Мы пользуемся Sony A6300 (www.bestestatejewelry.store). Замечательная камера, и относительно не дорогая. Однако как же может получиться хорошая фотография с таким длинным кульком, когда он совсем блокирует свет?

      :-)) "Kulek" does not block the light, it diffuses it, same as any diffuser that you put between a light and a subject..
