I was a tour guide at the Arch for about 5 years. The acceleration once the tram hits section 64 at 2:52 is MUCH smoother than it used to be. Before the new motors were installed at the top, it went from load zone speed to top speed very suddenly.
At 4:50, the yellow bit above Car 1 is known as "the cow catcher". The tram maintenance crew will stand in that box during inspections or if they need to hitch a ride to the top and aren't bringing equipment that requires a car.
I haven't been up to the arch in a few years but it's one of my favorite things to do when I play tourist in my hometown. Unfortunately though it's pretty expensive. at least I think it is LOL! I've always loved how the elevators kind of tip as you're going upward and if you haven't been to the top of the arch on a windy day then you're genuinely missing out on a chance to feel raw and uninhibited fear because the Arch sways with the wind LOL On my senior skip day we went up in the arch, a friend of mine and I, and not too far from the bottom something happened and there's a malfunction and after about 10 minutes of sitting in the pot and not moving a park ranger and I'm assuming some kind of technician showed up outside of our pot on the stairs and had to not forcibly open the doors but put some effort into it and opened the doors and said we had to walk the rest of the way. It was maybe three or four flights of stairs down; it wasn't very long. They wouldn't tell us what was going on other than there was a malfunction but that everyone was fine and that they were closing down the trams for the rest of the day. We were also told we were the last tram with passengers. nobody was stuck above us. I had taken several pictures as we were walking down those flights of stairs it's one thing to have a picture of the inside of the arch from inside the tram but it's another to have a picture of inside the tram from the inside the arch LOL unfortunately though only a couple develops correctly and over the years they've gotten lost. I'm happy you enjoyed the arch! I'm new to your channel. Are you guys Currently residing in St Louis or just stopping through?
I went up there probably been close to 17 years ago. I just remember being cramped with my family in the elevators and being nervous as I don't really like heights. It was a nice view though. Haven't been to St Louis much recently. Went to a ballgame last June but that was the first time I'd been there in probably 15 years. I remember the McDonald's that was on a boat in the Mississippi. That was....unique
This is a very unique and amazing place. They made all those renovations, but they should redo the cab interiors. Maybe a different color or texture on the inside of the cars to make it more welcoming.
Both load zones have been renovated. The system uses short-throw projectors above the doors. Previously, short films about the design of the Arch (North zone) or St. Louis in the 19th century (South zone) were shown on a couple of doors using traditional projectors.
It’s amazing how these ultra unique 1980s Monties are still running.

Hi Sarah! I'm Jeff from the video. I don't live in St. Louis, but Jacob does! I came to visit him and another friend of mine
that's a small space. view from the arch is fantastic.
I went here two weeks ago with a friend. I only did a short video going down.
Great video! Now you have me wanting to visit St. Louis!

Fantastic view!
This elevator is unique ! Awesome !
I haven't been up in the observation deck of the arch since the 7th grade field trip in September 2012.

Amazing video! When is your next trip report?
So far the only two unique projects regarding elevators I know of are this from Montgomery and the Twilight zone tower of terror involving otis
Nice video, Jacob!
What did they update? Last time I did the arch it was 1999 lol, use to live in St. Louis
I bet it feels weird riding on that elevator. I have been trying to plan a trip to St Louis but it's been hard to do.
I remember my visit it was awesome
When’s your next Car Wash video?
Tyler M I know right? I was about to ask that too! And one question. Are you interested in elevators? I really am.
I’m not interested in elevators, but thanks for asking.
Alberta Car Wash Network what is up with the car wash videos is it like a thing now
Sarah Lee why are you even asking me??? The only reason why I created this channel was to film carwashes & elevators.
Sarah Lee Be nice.
Awesome!!!
The loading bay looks different. Guess they use some sort of laser so the doors turn into a projector. I guess the other side got renovated too huh?
You mean projectors?

We need another car wash!!!!@
