The Gateway Arch is nothing short of a masterpiece of engineering. I adore this place. I would love to take the steps in here. Could you imagine the view of the elevator system as it passes by? That would be a sight.
Video quality is very good. I watched your videos of this system from over ten years ago and I’m amazed that you can better see what’s outside the doors of each car in the tram.
One day, Andrew, you should add to your bucket list the unique curved elevator at the New Town Hall in Hanover, Germany. Very much reminds me of this system
EPIC "elevator" system! What a wonderful piece of engineering. I noticed that there is a separate, more conventional elevator in the lower part of the arch, I guess no visitors are allowed, but it would be nice if someone can get access to it, it also looks interesting, with its inclined shaft. We can see its motor at 3:20 Would be so cool if you ask to show us this "tram" system behind the scenes, and that separate elevator.
What a unique elevatoring system! Reminds me of as another commenter in a video said, like a Wonkavator or something out of Evangelion in a way (surrounded by long pathways of twisting stairs and steel). Will have to visit some day! Thanks for recording in HQ.
That was a magnificent amazing adventure love the ride on that elevator and the great views of St. Louis. I am aware that this is the area you were born in
They're going to build an office building/apartment building/hotel in downtown Toronto that's about the same height as the Gateway arch; it's going to be about 95 floors! I wonder how fast those elevators are going to be?
@@jacobisworld9516 It's the "Old Courthouse." It's now only used for historical purposes. The Dred Scott cases were held there, if you're familiar with those.
When I think of the St Louis Arch, I think of the song "Curvature" by Pansy Division. There is a line in the song that mentions the St Louis Arch. Are you a fan of Pansy Division's music? Whether you are a fan or not, one fact stands in place. DieselDucy YOU are the top elevator channel on RUclips. I really enjoyed this video. I never knew how the elevator system operated inside of the Big Arch. Now I do. DieselDucy your videos are absolutely fascinating. That is because YOU are a fascinating man.
Imagine building the Gateway Arch today with the ADA laws... These are really cool, but I won't be able to visit it due to this place being not wheelchair friendly!

Thank you for the video! Great to see what it looks like inside
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for the comment 😃
I remember when I used to watch this channel years ago
It hasn’t changed ❤
Hope you will watch again 😃😃😃
@@DieselDucy yes i will definitely 👍
@@DieselDucy I still remember when you did a collab with a boy called Daniel Roanoke.
1:57 I did notice another elevator (the cable) when moving up and moving down. I wonder if it is a service elevator.
It is.
I love these elevators!!! They reminded me of a wonkavator.
They are totally amazing.
The only thing missing is the up and out button

Thanks. I used an iPhone 13 Pro Max with a Shure microphone.

I would love to go behind the scenes however even as big as I am on RUclips I’m still pretty much a peon in the grand scheme of things 😒
Diesel Ducy I would love to know what kind of elevator drive system is on the "other" elevator. Not the tram one. Thanks.

Hey Andrew. Thanks for taking us for a ride to the arch - very cool.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for coming along!

Very cool elevator system. One of those things i wish i can see.
It was awesome
These are nothing short of cool! Also, I remember these in 2011 having concrete doors.
They are epic. Totally
This is still an iconic elevator and it’s pretty cool!
Only one like it in the world
I’ve always wanted to go up in there
They are amazing
Never even realized you could go up the Gateway Arch- I thought it was simply a big art piece.
Yes you can. I did it in 2010.
It is quite an experience.

That is huge.
they should be very fast.
Seems a lot faster going down. Pretty fascinating
It goes right to full speed going down. Going up once it is vertical it goes to full speed.
Hey Andrew thanks for that information 10:22
You see that every day it’s not new
It’s my out to.
Wow it’s so cool but I was Springfield St Louis and I lived in Cassville and other I bought my white van at home
Thanks for watching 😊
Nice video of the day.❤🎉.
Thank you! 😃
I’ve always wanted to go up there.
It is awesome
So can you walk up the arch too or is that just people entering the pod elevators? I know of course staff could.
Yeah the steps sadly are for emergency use only.
Hey, it was presented on CBS Sunday Morning!
I personally wouldn't consider riding it myself, though.
It is an amazing system.
5:30 That’s Looks Like The State Capital Building But It’s Not.
It does but is not.

I've seen many videos of this system before
Cool!
Cool video! Interesting how they call this a “tram”.
I know, right?
Is this still the original Montgomery elevator system from the 1960s?
Modded
that is neat
Thanks
They look fun. I’ve never seen you having to sit in an elevator.
They are tiny.
I love my new Dieselducy iPhone case that i got for Christmas
Awesome. Thanks for getting one.

I’ve been to the Gateway Arch with my mom and my aunt in June of 2023 that summer when I saw Charlie Puth in Concert.
Awesome
Imagine building the Gateway Arch today with the ADA laws...
These are really cool, but I won't be able to visit it due to this place being not wheelchair friendly!
With the laws today it probably would not be able to be built.
Or perhaps it'd be built as a solid arch with no observation deck
So much nope. But thanks for showing the elevator.
Your welcome 🤗
absolutley horrible and hideous elevators but the views are nice i liked the old portion of these i use to visit this place i 2002
