- This is an instructional video on how I tie a Sunray Shadow. This is a popular Atlantic Salmon fly in Scandinavian countries but can also be used in Atlantic Canada for Salmon and Trout. I hope you enjoy, thanks for watching!!
Gidday Chris. Great job. Thanks. Never heard of temple dog - so many materials.
Sooo many!
Love to see more tube flys
Thanks Mike. I will try some more in the future!!
I have been tying almost identical streamer for over 40 years, usually on a # 6 and # 8 wet salmon hooks(extra strength and weight) for trout!
I fish it on the point with a # 12 picket pin wet on a short 4” 12 lb maxima dropper about 2 feet up from the point fly. I pull it in 2-3 ft. strips with a short pause between trying to skate the dropper near the surface! This is my go to combo and has caught me thousands of trout over the years! Been tying and fly fishing for 55 years! I add a little bit of quite short red hackle at the throat to give the impression of gills.
Thanks for sharing Mike. Some great info there!
Great fly! I know for sure this pattern will work very well in big rivers of Patagonia like Limay.
Take me with ya and i will bring the flies 😬😬
The title says Sunday Shadow….might want to fix that!
