It's not just the young player signings Real gets right. Perez recognized the importance of a balanced squad with experience AND youth. David Alaba is the perfect example. An incredible free transfer for a player with skill and years of experience in Bayern. A great personality to guide the youngsters and a valuable backup when he gets older.
Perez and his guys are just the best And I'm not a Real fan They're the best. Simply. They know if a 16/17 yo kids have the mentality of a champion. If a World class Guy is available for cheap, they buy it (Courtois,Alaba, Rudiger...)
Perez also knows what kind of system Madrid should play. He is willing to sell Theo, Odeggard, Hakimi, to bring Camavinga, Tchouaméni, who is better fit. We also seen mentorship balance between veterans and youngsters. For example Benzema-Vini, Modric-Cama,
Another big part is that the transition of these players into the starting XI while the old guards are still going strong. Lots of things to learn for them... More than just the game, they learn the discipline, mental fortitude, the persona of the White jersey and playing for the club... Ancelotti stressed after the Champions League win last season that the players are also fans of the club. You can't buy something like this... You need to build faith, trust and develop this from a young age. Players who are willing to go to battle for the badge!
Real chooses really wisely his young talents They're not just talented, they have a great mentality too Even those who leaves the club (Théo, Odegaard...) they're born with a champion's mentality. No pressure even in great matches, even against critics (Vini) and will to improve again and again.
They are also selling players at a point before the value drops due to age (varane, Casemiro), whilst keeping ones that are performing into their late 30s (Modric, benzema, Kroos). Really putting Barca to shame with how well run they have been.
Casemiro too, Real also managed to get really great deal for player that is no longer fit their team like Morata, Khedira, Di Maria, Llorente, Kovacic, or even Danilo
I’m a Bayern Fan & I have to say Real’s system, philosophy, La Fabrica, & spending is by far the best. Bayern were frugal for many years (they lacked squad depth & over relied on XI) City & Liverpool rely on their coaches in acquiring players, training talent etc. Abrahamovic’s Chelsea was a crazy horse with 3 headed transfer dragon (they bought, sold, & loaned everything under the sun) I think NewCastle will follow city’s lead & either Ten Hag, Arteta, or Baldiola will be their man @ helm after he wins UCL.
Huge shoutout to Juni Calafat. The man needs a statute built outside the stadium for the work he has done over the past few years. Vini, Rodrygo, Militao, Valverde, and now Endrick signed all thanks to his know-how and influence in the South American market
Casemiro was one of his as well. He also arranged the Tchouameni signing. Not scouting him but he did most of the contact both with Monaco and Tchouameni and entourage.
@@thomasshelby5454 Not in this lifetime buddy, that whole Ajax generation actually failed all around Europe after leaving Ajax. Almost all of them are now bench warmers
They realized very early that they can't outspend the petro-state/hedge fund backed clubs and changed their only galacticos policy and probably realized just throwing money at any problem wasn't gonna solve it i.e., the team with the most money isn't necessarily always the best
Feel that one of the core essences of this policy is that joining Real is an aspiration for many, it is the end goal. Therefore, this tactic has a unique advantage since these players are unlikely to leave. Compare that to Monaco - where many great youngsters who all left for bigger clubs (Mbappe, Fabinho, Bernardo Silva, etc) It's not really a model that can be copied because very few clubs have both the capital and allure to young footballers.
Madrid's ability to continually replace players is incredible, (modric, kross ect..) into (tchouameni, camavinga and valverde) also endrick will replace benz
@@sw33tialucard he runs with the ball exactly like r9. And he has utter control of his body. Very direct. I can only see him as a striker currently but who knows. But we also don’t know if it will work but I hope so
It was all by Flo Perez got mad at losing out on Neymar in 2012 he swore to never lose out again to young talent. Hence why the signing policy changed over the years. Hate him or love him, he's the top dog of all businessmen and the real boss.
Good video but the Policy didn’t start with Odegaard, It already started in 2011 When Real Madrid bought 18y/o Varane, and exhelled after 2013, after the Casemiro signing of £6M
Or even before when they signed guys like Di Maria, Ozil etv who were top players at a young age, to sell them for a profit a few years later and get even better players.
I don't know if I'll call this youth development, but maybe youth nourishment. Take an already massively talented professional youth prospect, give them the proper professional structure and environment and let them grow while being surrounded by winners and great players. You can kinda ease them in as they mature as players instead of forcing them in prematurely.
its sad to see the opposite at barcelona, where massively talented pedri and ansu have been thrown to the fire to save them and they've been injuring themselves trying to fulfill that role. Not that they have failed at all, they're superb. But even if they play for barcelona i don't want to see their talents thrown away due to too much responsibility/playtime/pressure at such a young age.
@@carletto3319 pretty funny since vini was also in similar situation when her first arrived in bernabeu. He got thrown into the first team as soon after ronaldo left and both isco and asensio failed to adequately fill that left wing role.
@@carletto3319 I think Barca can only do the similar as Madrid if they recover financially, mind you, we'd be having talent like Varela, Enzo, Julian etc with how Barca used to be run, they scouted the best they'd see, and build them up. At the same time the past Barca had financial support, now they don't
the reason why Madrid won UCL many times the last decade is because they were preparing everything for UCL, not many people know that UCL force every club participated to register homegrown players of the same club for at least 3 years before 21, while other side use this for bench players, Madrid prepared them as the star players, that's why they signed Vini, Vede and Edryick in such a young age.
@Ajay I think they'd be happy to leave because by then their game will certainly drop off while the youngsters will only have developed more than now. Modric and Benzema might be gone soon since there 37 and 35 respectively but Kroos is still 33 could be more than 2 years for him..
@@PewPew1234567 if the players u want to start/play regularly r classified as "homegrown", then u dont have to worry about who is on the bench. But if u dont do this/have enough homegrown players, then u need to include some on the bench, which then can effect the overall quality of team as well as what the manager can do and the number of options he has at his disposal, at least in terms of players he trusts or those who have already proven themselves.
Even though I am a Barca fan I can't deny the fact that Real Madrid is the greatest football club of all time. Their attitude to selection, scouting, infrastructure, youth etc. impresses me. 15th Champions League title loading.....
I feel like too many fans get too much absorbed by frivolous debates . And that, in my opinion, takes away from the game. Barca were the best club on the planet between 2009-2012. The way that they embarrassed RM and others proves so. Messi is the best footballer of his generation by a mile, and any comparisons made between CR7 to him are greatly under-appreciating just how vasly superior Messi is. RM is the greatest club of all time and the FIFA award of greatest club of 20th century proves so. And although I am a RM fan (obviously lol), I am a fan of beautiful football first, and I always appreciate and enjoy beautiful football even if it’s played by rival clubs.
The work of juni calafat , Sanchez and solari is just brilliant for us along with Perez. The work they put behind the scenes to scout these talents is just amazing proud to be Madridista in a time where money is just been thrown around
The scouting isn't even the skill here. Everyone knows/knew off Vini, Rodrygo and now Endrick. It's not like they're discovering hidden gems or anything. Where they really shine is early contact with these players and their families and agents. Forming bonds long before signing them. That's what gives Madrid a massive advantage when every big club starts putting in bids.
@@yarriddevogelaere2005 Which also has a lot to do with how players see Real Madrid when compared to other teams, Real Madrid is more attractive than any other team when it comes to history, so they already have a big advantage, and since they been the most successful team in Europe in the las decade that also helps attracting young talent, and now they also have the antecedent of Vini and Rodrygo arriving young and being successful at the club Real Madrid are in a perfect position right now at attracting young talent
@@yarriddevogelaere2005 Who tf knew of Valverde? or Camavinga? they definitely came out of no where. Camavinga only started to become well known after it came out that PSG wanted him. @@ドリューローズゴールド I'll give you Valverde. But he is the exception. Camavinga? If you didn't know him quite well at least a year before his transfer then you just don't have your finger on the pulse regarding European competitions. He was a hot topic even in 2019. He dominated the PSG midfield in 2019 and was one of the pillars in a Rennes side that qualified for the CL as a 16 yr old kid ffs :p He even made his debut for Les Bleus almost a year prior to his transfer and even scored if i remember correctly. You'd have to be oblivious not to know him very, very well as a football fan by that point, let alone a scout. Who tf knew him? Better question is which idiot didn't? Vinicius out of nowhere? That's ridiculous. That's like saying Endrick just came out of nowhere. Vinicius was being tracked by just about any major European club for at least a year prior to Madrid signing him. Spanish press had been talking about him since he was 15 yrs old. Mate every big club in the world watches the Copinha with major interest. Any player shining there, as was the case with Vini and now Endrick, you can rest assured is immediately researched by those clubs watching. Don't believe me? Just have a look at how many well watched compilations were put on youtube off both Vini and Cama way before their transfer.
@@yarriddevogelaere2005 more like other clubs discover them later. Real track endrick, vini, and rodrygo before they were eligible to play senior football, but unlike barca who invite them to their academy in la masia, real like to sign them when they are mature enough to go abroad.
I think that title goes to Santiago Bernabeu. What Perez is doing now is something that has been done by Bernabeu and he did this when it was difficult for Madrid.
Might be due to their training facilities Atletico Madrid's older players have fallen off a cliff Most times I don't even know what players like Koke does on the pitch
As a Barca fan, I feel like what Real Madrid is doing now with their policies is what Barcelona TRIES to do, but with less effort. Back in the days, drawing talent from La Masia is a no brainer. But now, I just see too many quick fix signings with little regard for developing the youth for big occasions.
barca lacks patience now. They want to stay competitive so they buy ready made stars. Vini would not have been shown the same patience at barca as he got at madrid
Barcas youth is limited because of players like busquets, Alba and the lack of forward talent la masía has produced. Outside of Fati, they haven’t had a good forward. Demebeles injuries only make it harder on them

Great to see Managing Madrid getting recognized cause they have some great journalism over there. Although you should really include a link in the description to the source.
I follow them rigorously. Those guys are great. Got everything covered. Top notch journalism and technical knowledge. I think even the club keeps an eye on what they say.
@@instavines2182, they know about football, no doubt, they had Hakimi in their club so they knew all about him aswell and they let him go for "only" 42M. Doesn't that give you any clues?
I see why. Real Madrid did definitely clock the system. Get the players before they have developed. Such a smart move on their part. Kudos to papa Perez 👏👏👏
Surprised the Tifo team didn't give Juni Calafat a mention. The chief scout along with his team really paved the way for scouting and eventually recruiting these youngsters. In contrast to the Mourinho years where you'd basically find the 'ideal galactico' lineup, Calafat with Perez's go-ahead changed the recruitment policy by signing players like the ones mentioned in the video + Militao. Now obviously he's not a miracle worker and ultimately depends on the players at the end of the day. But just goes to show how influential he's been in their recent UCL and league expeditions. Obviously the work is far from over for Juni but credit where its due for the Spaniard.
It's like they swapped policies with Barca, as Barca started throwing money at developed players rather than backing their youth system which is what had made them so successful.
The real watershed or clutch moment by Flo Perez was letting Ronaldo go at the moment he did. Three things happened right there. 1. The seniors got shook up and started taking more responsibilities like Ramos, Benz. 2. The juniors got a very clear message that coming to Real Madrid was not the end but the beginning and they must focus only on football. 3. Perez by not going for a replacement for Ronaldo, implied he valued the remaining players as much. These are the reasons why Real Madrid won ligas and CL when they are really in a transition. I have not, probably will never see a club selling their most valuable asset the way Perez did with a CL and money in the bank. He is the Don. What a leader!
This is what I keep doing in Football Manager haha but kidding aside, it is a high risk method in real life but I'm sure that Real has enough statisticians and scouts to foresee any risks so that's why it has been profitable for them in the long run. Not to mention that their brand carries more weight and prestige.
Real Madrid is the best run club in the world . Florentino Perez's ability to keep the club financially stable, gain profit through players and replace players with young talents from across the world has kept Real Madrid the biggest club in Europe for quiet a time now . some Real fans may hate Perez for many reason , But he is a hero for the club and also a brilliant businessman who for some obvious reasons never lets a player grow bigger than a club and replaces them in the absolutely right time .. Barcelona presidents can learn a lot from him ..
Bayern can easily compete. No debts and a solid financial structure. Also they seem to get players for so little money its actually cheating. Like de ligt for 70 million, sane 40, mane 40, Lewandowski for free
To be fair, Varane and Casemiro were both bought in the same situation or similar (young, unknown and cheap), and they were not only sold by a lot of money, but they also gave their best years for the club
Real Madrid is the greatest football club of all time... can't avoid admitting this as a barca fan. I feel like they one upped themselves in recent years with a brilliant youth system
@lolololololo lololololololol no jus that they are bullshitting... you see it now on almost all videos about a specific club... someone claiming to be a fan of their biggest rival acknowledging they are the better team in some way. 🙄
Finally some analysis on Madrid! U gotta do more analysis of this legendary club like how the new generation players are faring / gameplay style / the clubs history or such. This is literally the club with the richest footballing heritage & the way the club is run is amazing.
Best thing they have going for them is the respect that everyone has for them. A player knows damn well that if Real is interested in them is because they have potential and that Real won't tolerate anything less than excelence. If they give it their all, they'll earn max reward. I'm not sure if I explained it as well as I wanted but it's rare to see someone that is marketed as very talented arrive at Real and not succeed and prove the marketing right. The overall culture of Real Madrid brings that out of people. I think if Neymar had gone to Real instead of Barça, Neymar would've been a much greater player
Sacoto98 Neymar was perfectly fine at Barcelona. He was thriving actually. And I say that as a Madrid fan. It was also the smart move for him because he plays better on the left side and at the time Ronaldo was on the left. But at Barca Messi was on the right so he could take his preferred left side role. His move to PSG was the bad move. Not that he isn't good there but to me he has nevef been better than when he was at Barcelona and he was still getting even better. His pride and ego made him make the mistake of leaving Barca and one day he will confess his mistake maybe when he is long retired.
From Galacticos to Futuricos. Talk about character development, Flo Perez as shady as he might be, he truly is one of the ultimate presidents any club would wish to have.
Another thing is that Endrick is the most highly touted youth player since Neymar. That’s a huge difference between him and the other deals Madrid have made on very good prospects who people were unsure of
I think after cr7 left and hazard flop, madrid is more careful to spend money in experience player, and want to spend more in wonderkids around the world.
@@eljuli183 I'd put my money on a proven talent than some so called wonder kid Not every wonder kid turns out to be Messi but every proven talent can atleast do something on the pitch provided he doesn't have a history of being lazy or injury prone 💯
Can we give it up for Devine's narration? It gives this channel an air of legitimacy. Of class. Plus, maybe you can categorize videos like this as ASMR and get some more views! 🤣
Real Madrid management is an example of adjusting to reality , looking forward to the market ,having the finances to work at the same time that the team works , they learn from mistakes ( like Jovic) and can rebound from bad luck ( Hazzard), never putting individuals over team ( Ronaldo),proud to be a madridista , Hala madrid y nada más.
Real madrid already doing this since early 2000..robinho,higuain,ramos,marcelo,fernando gago, drenthe, so many more..not every player become star but some player become important for real madrid
There is a very important brazilian man working very close with Madrid for a very long time... this is the reason Madrid are getting the best Brazilians in the club and they become Legends of the game.
I think the real watershed moment is when neymar was signed by Barcelona… real had long been trying to sign him but didn’t want to splash out the cash demanded by santos and his agent… and he went to Barcelona… since then, real had been more active chasing promising youngsters…. Theo, ceballos, reinier, Vinicius, rodrygo, odegaard, etc… some of them were since sold because they failed to live up to expectations and some were sold to make funds for the impending signing of Mbappe which didn’t happen.. I am guessing real will have money to bring in at least one more of these promising youngsters in huge fees… given the amount that was saved for mbappe…
This is why I will always hate Bartomeu, and how he ran Barca into the ground with ridiculous spending like they were a Galaticos, Madrid is running things how Barca should of kept doing after the success of La Masía in the mid 2000s. It’s gonna take years for Barca to regain that system and success.
This is why Real Madrid won 14 UCL yes maybe in the past they are stacking themselves with superstars hence established the infamous Galacticos era. But when the FFP is implemented they quickly adapted and abandoned their galacticos transfer policy in favor of pursuing prospective youngsters and veteran. They even let some of their core players go to make sure they can have prosperous end of their career (e.g. Ronaldo, Ramos, Casemiro, Varane etc.). Unfortunately this is not the case for the rest of the world, the effects of Premier League led transfer policy can be felt throughout the world and somehow resulted in inflated transfer price, multi club ownerships, state owned clubs, leveraged transfers, as well as the creation of 'loan army'. Regardless whether these approaches successful or not we already know that Madrid has learned its lesson while others are striving to have its own 'Galacticos'.
I've had the impression that this policy was build after losing Neymar in 2012... and of course they can control the transition from youth to professional team. Besides that, the youth can start learning Spanish too.
No matter how much Real Madrid underplay their financial capabilities against oil-money clubs, their true strength lies with money and club's legacy. Endrick rejected high salaries of City, PSG over the fame the comes with Real Madrid career. It''s impossible to overthrow the RM from the European throne. They always get the best players which tbh I hate it.
Indeed such a nice strategy when you have state countries like PSG or city paying huge amounts for any player. Another key point is that no player is bigger than real (see cristiano, Ramos, Casemiro, varane, etc.). Players come and go but one thing is sure, Real Madrid keeps winning.
In general, youth policy is good. Programs designed to develop their talents from their childhood have a positive impact on them. In this respect, I found the concept of NYXS, a new sporting platform, very successful. Fans can also now contribute to the development process of young people. The discovery of their talents no longer has to be all about luck.
Real Madrid will be Real Madrid. They know how time flies! In 2000-06, Real Madrid was the best player in the world by annual revenue. Than oil money club return,Real change their strategy. Now Real Madrid is a more balanced team compared to Glacticos
Real Madrid still have the highest revenue, when it comes to football income, also the most valuable club and brand, and the largest fanbase in the world.
It’s good that young players like that are becoming more expensive. It helps the clubs they came from, and will only lead to an increase in the talent pool from those clubs!
I love how you put rodrygos jersey in the middle at 5:47, since, to me, he often gets overlooked especially in comparison to Vinicius. Once rodrygo, who seems reserved and a little shy, develops his personailty he will run circles around vinicius. I hope that whoever succeeds ancelotti (hopefully raul) sees this and moves rodrygo either to his preferred left side or into the middle of the pitch where his intelligence is so valuable. he is a little wasted on the right side of the pitch.
Pedro Zapata he must learn to adapt. Great footballers do that. They adapt. Bale was a left winger for years at Tottenham but when he went to Madrid, Ronaldo was on the left so he had to adapt to playing on the Right. Di Maria too. Had to adapt to playing on the right initially, and then when Bale came, he had to adapt to playing on the left side of a midfield three and sometimes as a wide midfielder in a 4-4-2 formation. He will never take the left side coz Vini has made it his own. No excuses. You're a pro footballer. Learn and adapt.
Their Transfer policy is to just be the biggest pull to Spanish or Latin/brazillian/portuguese heritage players, in more recent times French as well because of e.g. Zidane. As the biggest and most supported club amongst that high talent demographic and so they can easily get the most talented players from those backgrounds to the club. They still spend huge money by the way, especially for the money their league brings in as a whole they are head and shoulders in front for spending but that is also because they generate so much more revenue than any other team in their league. Because of the size and siccess of the club, in a similar way to Bayern do it specifically to the bundesliga they can also just get the best free agents going from most leagues. Personally dont think their policy would be transferable anywhere else
One thing I find interesting is how buying players young varies by position. Attackers seem to be the ones most of all you can spot early at 15 or 16 years old as having a good chance of being special. Rodrygo, Vini, Endrick, even Neymar all identified and becoming global names at this early age. Take a step back to midfield and that age seems to go up to more like 17 to 19 years old at being the earliest age where you can reliably pick out a future midfield star In defense it feels like it goes up a bit again with ages 19 to 22 being when you can really pick out the future defensive stars. Trying to predict the potential of defenders when they are very young seems much more difficult. Seems similar with Goalkeepers.
Whilst people use to always hype LA Masia, Real Madrid quietly upgraded their youth policy underground and after more than 10 years of building, they are finally getting recognition. That's real madrid for you.
Plus, the only big club who didn't fall in hundreds of millions of debt due to the pandemic. Financial discipline comes first, they proved letting ronaldo go, and during the pandemic not losing a single penny dispite of the situation. That financial discipline is the sole reason Real Madrid had to end up selling young jewels like Achraf Hakimi and Martin Odegaard. Hakimi would be starting 11 if the pandemic didn't happen.
@@aaa2236 Madrid had no obligation to sell because of the pandemic, that's bs, even Fabrizio stated that Hakimi wasn't going to sit around on the bench, because Carvajal was already planned to be the starting RB for next season. Both Hakimi and Madrid agreed to sell him because of that.
Real are kinda fortunate that ex Madrid players have a premium. If odegaard had signed and made his debut for Liverpool at 15, flopped and had loans in 3 different countries, there’s no way he’d be getting sold for 9 times the fee they signed him for. If a young player doesn’t make it there, other clubs will always be willing to take chances on them and give them good value.
Odegaard has steadily progressed. His seasons in the Netherlands were good, his season at Sociedad was fantastic. He was a top 5 midfielder in LaLiga that year and a Team of the season player in Eredivisie the year prior (the only non-PSV and non-Ajax player btw who were the two dominant forces that season). His transfer fee wasn't that high because of some "premium", it was that high because Arsenal knew they were getting a gem that was good enough to start for Madrid if it wasn't for Modric, Kroos and Valverde
@@thms6833 I’m an arsenal fan and followed odegaards career well. You’re right he had a good loans at Vitesse at real sociedad. Buthe was barely making the bid bench after he’d been hyped to be the future of Madrid and was a year away from his contract expiring. If a 23 year old was surplus to requirements at Liverpool and had a year left, there’s no way he’d go for 35 mil.
@@Mhollette but he wasnt just any 23 year old and furthermore, he was good on loan at Arsenal so they knew what quality they were getting for their money. The only reason he was surplus to requirements at Madrid is because Zidane cant develop young talent to save his life and always used his threepeat heroes when they were available.
Actually real changed their spending strategy. I remember when I first started watching football back in 2003-04 real was huge but for 10 years they spend over 1.2 billion for big names but without any results. Then Barcelona was producing players amazing from youth squad. Now Barcelona buy players and real develop them and we know the results.
I just want to appreciate the motion designer of the tifo team. As a fellow designer, the simple things we see here take a huge amount of time, this video might have taken up to 3 weeks to pull off.
I remember that in here in Brasil when Vinicius Junior's deal was announced everyone got really confused, the best players of the national league weren't worth that much that was paid for a 16 years old with zero games in professional
I think they have realized that instead of spending money on established players its better to spend those money on youths who have potential and who can be molded according to club system . Like Hazard they have very bad experience with already established players who couldn't perform according to their price.
Now that Odegaard is mentioned... We all know he was a baller as well, it just wasn't meant to be I feel. Most of us are happy with his form in Arsenal
Some players are so good that their worldclass talent is completely obvious already at the age of 15. Just look at footage from Mbappe from 2014 or so, every club would pay 50 million euros today for such a unique player.
It didn't work out with Jović, Odriozola and Reinier (120M all together) for example. The best thing Madrid does is knowing when to sell their players getting the maximum value out of it.
Buying young talent also ensured that the players will grow fond and willing to fight for the club, since they feel their talents has been recognized early on
Before I thought Real Madrid was crazy Like, they spend 45 millions on 17/18 year old guy, who did nothing at top level So they make a gamble... At 40/50 millions I said "It's Real Madrid ! These kids will be crushed by the pressure. The team will never let them time to develop. And so much money, it's so much difficult to gain money on them if they flop" What I didnt understand is, that Real not only chose these younglings because of their talent, but because if their mentality too. Vinicius is the perfect example. He has an amazing professionnalism. And even when he struggled, he had the right mentality. Same for Valverde. They eat pressure at breakfast. They just want to improve and improve...
I’d love to have seen this video go further to looking at how this style of transfer has began to influence the rest of Europe. Man United and Garnacho, Diallo, Pellestri for example. Chelsea and Chukwuemeka.
This is not enough Real Madrid have spent a good ten years not relying on high value purchases rather a crop of players from academy plus notable signings like Modric or Benzema or Ramos who came in young and became mainstays in the club plus not forgetting the full circle by the appointment of Zinedine Zidane and continued success
I do appreciate their approach to youth players. Real Madrid's position is quite unique, as they are the clear end goal for any footballer, their location, weather condition and to a lesser extent the culture are more appealing to South American players and they kept a healthy age structure in the squad for many years now, keeping everyone alerted and fresh. However, in this context I do not understand transfers like Hazard for 115, Odriozola for 32, Reinier for 30 or Luka Jovic for 63 million, respectively. They were obviously overpaying for those. In know, in hindsight it is easy to judge, but each of these cases was in at least one aspect a deviation from their general transfer policy, be it in terms of age, resell value or overall quality potential. So while I think a good amount of their success is due to the transfer policy, I could imagine that the team would be even more impressive with the addition of 2 to 5 more promisingly talented players that could have originated in investing available spending capacity more coherent to their general guidelines.
Jovic was a baller in serie A, and Madrid didn't know Hazard will made them his temporary retirement home, so in those two cases you can't blame Madrid.
Man, hopefully more teams give this a try, some more cash wouldn't be bad for the development of the teams here in south america and more opportunities for a wider range of players.
I also think the Eden Hazard fiasco, and Bale + CR7 egocentric personality has something to do with it, both cases were spent heavily (with the later of course producing more results, but still) came with alot of problems, something those youngster are free from, and can be moulded into the perfect players if done from young age
I had huge respect for Real Madrid (mostly Perez) when they let go of Ronaldo (when he left for Juve). Ronaldo wanted to stay but started to feel unimportant to the Real president so he requested to leave. Real sold Ronaldo for 112m to Juventus after buying him NINE YEARS AGO for 80m from Man U. They cashed in HEAVY on his image, won countless trophies and made huge sums of money during those years and STILL sold him at a profit when he was THIRTY THREE YEARS OLD. After Ronaldo left, EVERYBODY was Shitting on Real and claiming their reign was over. They went on to win La Liga TWICE and add ANOTHER Champions League trophy and Benzema won Balon D'Or. What Real Madrid said here is what they've been saying throughout their entire existence. NO PLAYER, NO MATTER HOW GREAT, IS BIGGER THAN THE CLUB. Something so many clubs can learn from and why Real was so dominant for so many years in ALL aspects of football including the Sport side and Business side. As a Barcelona fan, I always admired this about Real and it's what makes them so powerful and desired. Even with ALL the money PSG and Man City throws at players, players STILL dream to go to Real Madrid because the chances of glory are amplified. A true Legacy club with pure club values. No more, no less.
It's interesting to see how transfer policy has changed at Real. As a teenager, i used to play football manager games and loved buying the best young talents right as they entered the scene. Of course, it totally worked out in simulated games. But Real's policy now strongly reminds me of that and I think they should keep going with it. In the long run they'll realise that it's unnecessary to pay €100m or more for a star player who is 25, 26 or 27.
real madrid has been on top of the market for quiet a few years. i remember when we signed casemiro for 5m when we was also very young.. 4 Champions League Wins later the sold him at age 30 for 80mil to Manu.. One of the most underrated signing from perez in my opinion. some other names wich where also brought in young for a good price isco, ceballos, vallejo, ramos. Incredible players like kroos didnt cost more than 40m, modric 35m, benzema at age 21 for 35m, militao 50m age 21 carvajal from the own youth sold to leverkusen and bought back for 10m and even asensio for 3.5m The list goes on and on and perez doesnt get enough credit for this.
It's not just the young player signings Real gets right. Perez recognized the importance of a balanced squad with experience AND youth.
David Alaba is the perfect example. An incredible free transfer for a player with skill and years of experience in Bayern. A great personality to guide the youngsters and a valuable backup when he gets older.
he feels like he was at madrid for years.
Rudiger too.
Perez and his guys are just the best
And I'm not a Real fan
They're the best.
For example Benzema-Vini, Modric-Cama,
@@Am_dave Hakimi wanted to sub carvajal on his prime 2017/2018 don’t dream kiddo

Real chooses really wisely his young talents
They're not just talented, they have a great mentality too
Even those who leaves the club (Théo, Odegaard...) they're born with a champion's mentality.
Barcelona would be more irrelevant without Guardiola.... Their management would have failed utterly....
Edit: thanku fr the likes 🤝
Hazard?
Kaka?

All English clubs are owned by oil money merchants or rich businessmen. None of them are owned by fans like Real or Barca
Feel that one of the core essences of this policy is that joining Real is an aspiration for many, it is the end goal. Therefore, this tactic has a unique advantage since these players are unlikely to leave. Compare that to Monaco - where many great youngsters who all left for bigger clubs (Mbappe, Fabinho, Bernardo Silva, etc)

Yes, fonally someone said it all. There's a difference between Youth Development and what Madrid does.

Everything about Madrid just oozes class and elegance.

Its rare but flops happen at every club bro

It was also the smart move for him because he plays better on the left side and at the time Ronaldo was on the left.
But at Barca Messi was on the right so he could take his preferred left side role.

Endrick is going to be so good
This is why Real Madrid won 14 UCL yes maybe in the past they are stacking themselves with superstars hence established the infamous Galacticos era.
The graphics and the transitions are just wonderful!

I've had the impression that this policy was build after losing Neymar in 2012... and of course they can control the transition from youth to professional team. Besides that, the youth can start learning Spanish too.
Its wild that Real isn't even in top 20 clubs in net spend in the last 10 years
No matter how much Real Madrid underplay their financial capabilities against oil-money clubs, their true strength lies with money and club's legacy. Endrick rejected high salaries of City, PSG over the fame the comes with Real Madrid career. It''s impossible to overthrow the RM from the European throne. They always get the best players which tbh I hate it.
High salaries? Are you crazy? Man City have proper wage structure.
Indeed such a nice strategy when you have state countries like PSG or city paying huge amounts for any player. Another key point is that no player is bigger than real (see cristiano, Ramos, Casemiro, varane, etc.). Players come and go but one thing is sure, Real Madrid keeps winning.
Some delusional fans still believed that Real would re-buy Ronaldo in 2023. Wake up.
In general, youth policy is good. Programs designed to develop their talents from their childhood have a positive impact on them. In this respect, I found the concept of NYXS, a new sporting platform, very successful. Fans can also now contribute to the development process of young people. The discovery of their talents no longer has to be all about luck.

I absolutely love seeing youth players in Madrid making appearances more than before, it will be good over the long run
The thing about perez is that he always puts the club before the players no matter who the player is.

The football reporting is great and all but shoutout to the video editing team on this one

Take a step back to midfield and that age seems to go up to more like 17 to 19 years old at being the earliest age where you can reliably pick out a future midfield star
In defense it feels like it goes up a bit again with ages 19 to 22 being when you can really pick out the future defensive stars. Trying to predict the potential of defenders when they are very young seems much more difficult. Seems similar with Goalkeepers.
Love a new Tifo video in the morning 👌🥰
Marcelo was 16 when he signed with Madrid .
Benzema 19 , Varane 18 , Casemiro 20 , Valverde 17 ....
All the comments below are so refreshing. Football fans just exchanging ideas and thoughts with no trolling.
Good stuff and great video!
It’s good you mention Martin Keown’s 57th in this video. They’ve needed to replace Carvajal for a while, I think he could do a decent job.
Hakimi leaving was more due to him not wanting to play second fiddle to carvajal anymore, especially after his successful loan stint with dortmund
@Life’s good because Real Madrid needed to sell because of the pandemic. Otherwise he’d have stayed at least one season to compete with Carvajal
As a fellow designer, the simple things we see here take a huge amount of time, this video might have taken up to 3 weeks to pull off.
matt wiltse mentioned on tifo? tears in my eyes
I remember that in here in Brasil when Vinicius Junior's deal was announced everyone got really confused, the best players of the national league weren't worth that much that was paid for a 16 years old with zero games in professional
Useful info good presentation and relaxing voice. Perfect videos to watch at the end of your day
Great video. More Madrid content please.
I think they have realized that instead of spending money on established players its better to spend those money on youths who have potential and who can be molded according to club system . Like Hazard they have very bad experience with already established players who couldn't perform according to their price.
The artwork of this video is outstanding!
Now that Odegaard is mentioned... We all know he was a baller as well, it just wasn't meant to be I feel. Most of us are happy with his form in Arsenal
And that strategy is allowing them to smash their competition without the huge money injections that they have. Brilliant stuff.
Buying young talent also ensured that the players will grow fond and willing to fight for the club, since they feel their talents has been recognized early on
Considering most footballers start their careers at around 16/17 this makes sense
Before I thought Real Madrid was crazy
Like, they spend 45 millions on 17/18 year old guy, who did nothing at top level
So they make a gamble... At 40/50 millions
I said "It's Real Madrid ! These kids will be crushed by the pressure. The team will never let them time to develop. And so much money, it's so much difficult to gain money on them if they flop"
What I didnt understand is, that Real not only chose these younglings because of their talent, but because if their mentality too.
Real Madrid playing Football Manager in real life. Buying young Latina boy and either they turn into a star or sold for a huge profit.
The business side of football is so fascinating as little decisions made years prior can have a monumental impact on the future of the underlying club
They have been doing smart business for more than 5 years, they also signed Casemiro very young
5:50 Endrick has joined Real Madrid, it is confirmed by Endrick himself
Basically, they reverted to 80s and 90s and use their youth system compliment with singing
Incredible players like kroos didnt cost more than 40m, modric 35m, benzema at age 21 for 35m, militao 50m age 21
carvajal from the own youth sold to leverkusen and bought back for 10m
and even asensio for 3.5m
The list goes on and on and perez doesnt get enough credit for this.
