Christian smith, No way leave the bay as it is. Originality is always a nice thing to keep. That bay is coming up so clean and the paint is in such good condition i dont think it needs to be done, not to mention the amount of time and hard work for such a small difference just in my books is not worth it. If the paint was missing or no good od say do it. Not afraid of a bit of hard work my friend 😝👌 and look at the outcome that fabricated engine mount kit is going to look so good against that factory paint.👀✌️
GREAT TIP!!! I didn’t know that tab was there. Thank you!! 01:20 If that sticker was fully in place, it would be hard to discover that tab without your tip
I had the same stuff on my frame rails on my vr6 when i wanted to clean the bay. Some sort of wax is it from the factory (but i stopped with removing the wax bc it was a pain)
This factory wax is a pain to remove haha, early mk3 are full of it, i have spent hours cleaning mine... You are going to route the harness behind the fender? I think is the best way to go, I think on Miley would be a great touch to the bay!
Alvaroz951 haven’t decided if I want to do an extended harness yet or not we will see lol yeah the wax takes sometime to remove but I’m super thankful it saved my paint haha
Really really cool to see your process I have 2 mk3’s 1 my 2.0 daily and I’m doing the exact same thing rn to my other mk3 as well, swapping the 2.0 to a vr6. Trying to record my vr6 swap on my channel bro, love from East Los Angeles Cali!
Awesome video! I think you should leave the bay as is, if you mess with it too much you might not be able to get the paint to match up right. I think it's going to look so awesome when it's all done. You were talking about a one piece carbon fiber rain tray last video, do you have a link where we could find that at. I would love it for my MKIII.
Yeah I feel the same but I really like that. Would be a good opposite to Miley (bags, stance wheel specs). Having abs or not has nothing to do with a good driver in my opinion because it’s safety equipment and you shouldn’t underestimate how abs can safe your a**.
@@Whatshouldicallit660 yeah, i was saying skill wise, sometimes you can feel before the lockup and stuff, but the mk3 break pedal sucks so I bet it would be hard in that car
Collin Laque not sure exactly what this car will be for. More then likely it’ll be like Miley and go to shows and also rip the back roads 🤘🏼 as for the abs I’ve heard a lot of horror stories with this particular system where it can actually be dangerous and a lot of people delete it all together. This car also has a portioning valve in the rear so braking force should be good at all corners and no risk of abs malfunction. Plus non abs looks much cleaner lol
HEY CHRISTIAN I HAVE A PROBLEM IN MY 97 TBI 1.8 GOLF IN THE COLD START IT DOSNT WANT TO IDLE RIGHT AND IT WILL STALL BUT ONCE IT GETS TO TEMP ITS FINE ITS ALSO TAKING IN TO MUCH GAS ANY IDEAS PLZ HELP
That 2nd horn is the factory alarm horn on mk3. Keep it and put it back.
100% keep the bay as it rolled out the factory man. Loving the progress
What an incredible difference you made by cleaning that engine bay, It looked awesome!!!
I would leave it factory. The paint is almost mint under all that dirt .Its coming along nicely dude 😃
That is a horn in your fender, its used for the alarm and the one towards the front is used on the steering wheel like normal :)
Point one its a horn , and that glue in the engine bay is Wax they use so the engine bay not can rust
Dude that horn being disconnected could have been the reason you were having issues with that engine. Oh well into better issues hahaa
Love how all that nice oily gunk protected that paint

Leave it factory look! Damn that engine bay is looking real good!
Factory paint and sealer for sure! This thing will look amazing with paint matched reservoirs😍
keep it as is it will look cooler in the end aaaand you can also say that it is original paint ;p
the build is coming together pretty nicely
GREAT TIP!!! I didn’t know that tab was there. Thank you!! 01:20 If that sticker was fully in place, it would be hard to discover that tab without your tip
The ABS harrness goes under the panel on the right side of the passenger seat and further to the Abs ecu under the backseats.
Sascha Langlotz I learned that and I’ll have to go back and pull the rest out lol
Factory paint and sealer keeps the rust away 👍🏻
The factory paint looks sweeeet! I'd say leave it as is👌🏽, loving the progress though!
Leave it as is 👌🏽
here pending your projected greetings from Guadalajara Mexico
Leave the OG paint in the engine bay! Looks so good!
100%. Keep it as it.
I think that waxy stuff is called cosmoline. My mk1 has it. I haven't tried but read that wd40 should ease removal.
One of the coolest things about the Savoy is you'll be able to bring it home to the states. Is that the plan?
That engine bay looks like it just got painted. Time machine to '94.
Max Naidoo wait till you see tomorrow’s video lol
Love your work all the way from south africa 🇿🇦
Shave it! I love the Savoy has so much potential and personality😍
Waiting on the new name for the SAVY5🤘🏿🤘🏿
When i pull my 1.8t out of my mk4 i soaked it in purple power then pressure washed it and it was insane highly reccomend that
I believe that’s your alarm

Nice dude all of the best and keep up the clips liking everything you do the horn under need the fender is maby for the car security
LET'S GO BOI lets get it bro looking great already
Looks really good.
Definitely leave it as is!!

Ed P you’re gonna love the Vr6 good luck man!
Make seam sealer great again!

Kyle Stumpo wait till you see tomorrow’s videos haha and check out @spoonfedtuning for the tray 👍🏼
@@Mk3Smith thanks! Can't wait for the new video tomorrow!
Hey! Just use a heatgun and a rag to remove this gunk next time.
Diesel fuel works wonders to get all that grease, wax sealer and grime off. Keep it up!
that is wax in the engine compartment and goes away very easily with a hot air dryer
You should leave the textured stuff on there for protection.
You should call it the 5AVOY
Keep it factory.Clean it and maybe ceramic coat it
Does anyone know where on a mk3 the secondary air pump relay is?? Please i need some help
Hey men, shave the engine bay 🤟
I feel like, if this is going to be the more track focused car, you'd want to keep the abs, but i guess a good driver doesn't need it
Yeah I feel the same but I really like that. Would be a good opposite to Miley (bags, stance wheel specs). Having abs or not has nothing to do with a good driver in my opinion because it’s safety equipment and you shouldn’t underestimate how abs can safe your a**.

Check your vacuum hoses, one could be ripped or torn, I had the same issue with my 98 vr6
Alarm 🚨
Im watching on my 2nd account lol, I have a mk4 jetta btw
Dump some goo gone on those frame rails and you'll have a much easier time removing that stuff
Now you know why the car wont start. The car had an alarm system which shut down the fuel pump.
Leave the paint stock
Better to remove With boiled water
Save the 94 paint pls
It is a wax that they put on at the factory, a common trick is to use a heatgun and a rag. will save a lot of time
Like so christian will see this
I think it has been cavity waxed that is wax that what saved the paint
Remove the sealant to go for a smooth finish similar to miley's 😁
just leave the paint as it is
Im 3rd 😊👑
Leave the bay as is.
It's a horn,mk3 have 2,and mk4 have 3😂...euro spec cars.
mk 4's have like the most shitty horns ever, i've had 3 mk4's and the horns are all shitty sounding, air horn is installed and sounds beautifully
and not all mk 4's have 3 horns i think, at or the previous owners of two of mine both removed one XD
