    Hi everyone it's Sweel, just a reminder as we start Korra that Kat & Sonny read the comments and so we want to avoid skewing their expectations unnecessarily. I know it's common on Korra reactions to post "warnings" about the show or its characters, but Kat & Sonny will watch through all the show and make their own opinion as time goes on.
    Please keep your comments about present and past episodes only, nothing about the future, or expectations, or anything of that nature. Comments such as encouragements and excitement about starting a new show are fine.
    For this video I am sorry if I have deleted your comment, some people made long comments that I decided to remove only because of a sentence or two within it. I know that's not cool so please understand and remember those guidelines for future comments.
    Thank you

    I like that Korra is your "guide" to this new world not only because she is the protagonist but also because she, like us, is new to this world, the big city, the new politics and social structure. So we get to discover this new world together with her, which I thought it was a nice choice by the writers.
    Im sure that you guys will love this show too ^^

      Both yes and no. All the Avatars are essentially reincarnations. Which means that they are their own person, and yet a continuation. They are all one, and they are also many. That's what a reincarnation means. Once upon a time she was Aang, Roku, Kyoshi, etc. Now, she is Korra. She is them. She is also herself. That's basically how reincarnation is supposed to work.

    It doesn't matter how many time I watch this show, the very beginning with Tenzin saying that Aang's time has come to end... It always chokes me up. It's so bittersweet and very true to life, time passes and another Avatar must take up the mantle to help keep the balance. But knowing he is gone kind of breaks my heart. Even though it's not real. Love that you two are watching this, it's going to be fun to see how you both react to it and like it. Thanks.

    Aw man I am so excited for this! Legend of Korra is such a good show if it's given a proper chance! Also, not sure if it was already mentioned, but Tenzin was essentially named after Monk Gyatso, so yeah, Kya after Sokka and Katara's mother, Bumi obviously after Bumi, and Tenzin after the man that was basically Aangs father figure. It... gives a lot of emotions.

      @Frandahab 3 года назад +1

      @@whenthedustfallsaway zaheer is, imo, the best antagonist in avatar history... It's just that the path they took bothers me. The avatar was the bridge between spiritual world and physical world, well not anymore. The avatar is so overwhelmingly powerful because it has the experience of its past lives, well scratch that. I dunno, it sorta makes korra just someone who can bend 4 elements...

  • @BARALover96
    @BARALover96 4 года назад +26

    Korra is basically the opposite to Aang. She starts with 3 bending mastered and Aang 1 which is the one she hasnt at all been able to use. She has a hard time with spirituality which came very easy to Aang.
    And the major two being the personality being the opposite to Aang and the fact that she wanted to be the avatar(which is the reason she figured out she was the avatar).
    Another thing is that whitelotus has kept Korra hidden and protected from the world so she doesnt know much about the outside world while Aang seems like he travelled a lot.
    Gran Gran Katara is so cute with her classic hair loopies. I want to hug her.
    Korra is 16 in the beginning which is usually the age where most avatars start their avatar training but Aang started at a "younger" age because of the war and Korra had to start very early as well because Aang change the tradition plus she found out early. There is a comic with kid Korra being trained by Katara where she meets puppycub Naga.
    Lin Beifong is so awesome. The Beifong family is just awesome in general.
    The interaction between Lin and Korra is a huge meme.
    While Aang journey is to bring peace to the world Korra's is to maintain that peace.
    Edit:
    Aang died pretty young for an Avatar. Creators said was because he froze himself for a 100 years took a lot out of him.(Kyoshi for example lived for 230 years)

    Yes, there are some terrific comics that tell some additional *Aang* stories. Actually, there are a lot of comics written by the creators. The first few that I know of are in graphic novel form.¹ They address the specific stories that you're asking about. You could either read them before you're finished this show, or well after.
    Much like *Kat* noted, I think of the 70-year time period in that world to be somewhat similar to 1850 (Aang) to 1920 (Korra). Which for us was the age of science and mass production.
    •••✺●✺•••
    *¹* ─ I think they have since come out with smaller periodicals, like standard comics. But I believe the first few ···· primarily _The Promise_ and _The Search,_ which address what you were discussing ···· we're initially published in trade paperback form.

Add seventy years to that, and, if anything, this world is lagging behind(again, minus guns). And I think that with the nations opening up to each other, all that fire nation tech was now free to spread out.

    Toph was always a mix of rebellious and strict. I don't think she'd care much for Traditional Rule of Law but I also don't think she'd have a problem enforcing it as a day job, she was firmly against great evils like Ozai, but was pretty fine fucking around for personal gain the rest of the time.

    The animation in this show is next level... the Korean studio was worked to death on a couple of these seasons.

    i’m not sure if anyone has clarified this but appa actually wasn’t the last of the sky bisons! during aang’s travels after the war ended he discovered a new herd of them and their population started to grow again and are now taken care of at all of the air temples!

    Hate how before the war Roku said "The Four Nations are meant to be just that FOUR." And the first thing Aang does is create a Unified Nation

      Every Avatar makes their own decisions and gain experience from it. Which is the point(did you not see the advice each Avatar that talked with Aang said?) Also there's comics explaining what happened in between each series

    One thing that I think about Toph, is that she didn't really dislike laws, otherwise she would have never become a police officer. I think she doesn't like people who use laws to order people around, especially if they use them against her and people who abuse of their power. Making Toph a police officer is definitely an interesting move from the creators.
