They call ponds "tanks" in Texas too. My grandfather`s family dug deep holes in the ground in the 1800s in Louisiana and lined them with clay or rocks & cement (I think?) and called them "cisterns." In some areas in central Louisiana very cold springs come right out of the ground along creeks. You can locate the sources in cold creeks by walking up them barefoot.
Nice. Its astounding how deep some gnamma holes are. I found one a couple years ago that was over 4 ft deep. I couldnt find a longer stick unfortunately

I think we have found some deep ones, trouble is everyone tosses in a rock or two and before you know it, the bloody thing is full of stones.
