He is NOT in the Rock and Roll hall of fame !!! What are they thinking. Singer, song writer, producer, Grammy winner, etc. 17 hits in Billboard 100, Number 1 billboard hit, Poor Side of Town !! . Also, his songs have been used in movies and TV series. What else do you have to do ????????
This song was so perfect for me when I was 17 on the poor side of town and trying to find a girl. It said it all for me. Great song. He should definitely be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
When I look at all the great talented artists NOT in the hall of fame realized it is just a joke. Very little to do with actual rock and roll artists more of an ego trip for the founder. Why I've never visited it.
TheAnitam3 OMG. FOR sure Johnny, AND Connie surely should be!! What , the last one had '80s and even '90's groups nominated?? How ridiculous!! Who the hell decides the nominations? Idiots. Where can we vote!!!?
Love you, Johnny, since 1964, when I was a senior at Glendora High, Glendora, California. I miss you so much. God Bless and keep you. You are my favorite forever. Praise God we are still alive.
Gwag I agree. When you ignore musicians like Johnny Rivers and groups like The Union Gap, Classics IV, Grass Roots and countless others something is wrong with the R/R Hall of Shame.
Well....I guess I just got old and feeble or something.....but I cannot watch this without totally breaking down in tears!!!! Maybe because I lost my high school sweetheart to another in high school.....maybe its the medication I'm on......who knows. But when I watch it.....I have to be ready for a total meltdown and tissues!!!!! You still sound incredible Johnny.....and look amazing. Thanks for the great music....lyrics.....and all the memories.Love you.
YA RIGHT BUT STILL PLAYING EVERYONE ELSES SONGS "MR COVER" AS WE CALL HIM IN THE BUSINESS OH WELL ,I GUESS SOMEONE HAS TO KEEP THE OLDIES OF EVERYONE ELSE ALIVE
Can't believe another year has passed - Hope we can get a "Few" more concerts with Johnny - I'd fly from Australia - please post if anyone hears of a concert.
We are observing the best of the best on here from the 60's, we will never see the likes of them in our lifetime again, so glad I was old enough to appreciate these great humble muscians such as Mr Rivers, just raw and talented.
Mr. Rivers came on board ship , the USS Yorktown CVS 10, back in 1966 , off the coast of Vietnam , He and Miss Ann Margret, great show , great Americans in my book. thank you, for caring
I was in the USMC 72 to 76 and i walked into the Whiskey a Go Go club in LA one weekend and there he was playing and singing, i have been a fan of his ever since. He is great !!!!
Wow. Makes me remember love in the 60's. Sometimes running to and other times running away from it. At 70, love that I have memories and songs and singers that bring them right back.
You're 10 years late my friend, this simple masterpiece was released in 1966, then Johnny was the house band after he opened the "Whiskey a' GoGo", in January 64. I'm not trying to correct you friend, just thought you'd like to know and it makes what you wrote even more amazing. Cheers !
I saw Johnny in 1985 in 100 degree heat on Auditorium Shores in Austin, Texas. He was his own lead guitarist and didn't miss a like, playing or vocally. A true musician.
Just saw him December 1 2018 he sure still has it wonderful musician for a 76 year old does a wonderful show and every time I have seen him he has never failed to take time for autographs
So very talented. He deserves lots of awards. Love his voice. Great songs too. So easy to sing along with them. His music brings back happy memories for me love his music forever❤
Still sounds great. F**k the Hall of Shame. They told me Johnny didn't fit their criteria. I told them they were full of crap. Johnny and several others are already in my Hall of Fame. Still rockin' at 78!
🎼Those are some of the best chords there!! Pretty 🙌guitar solos! He is just such an awesome singer with incredible talent. 🫶The band and backing vocals are super sweet!🎶
I've always liked Johnny Rivers. It's a shame I did not know that he was still performing. He deserves more notoriety since he is indeed a great performer. And wow for his age he is fantastic and looks great. Like Steve Crosno in El Paso used to say....the great Juan Rios ladies and gentlemen. Great ob Johnny. Thank you for your songs .
Seriously we need to get him in the RnRHOF ASAP FFSs It would be wonderful to do this before he gets in by means of a tribute. Lets give him the tribute NOW there are far too many tiny talents in the RnRHOF! He is a Giant and He STILL Has it!!!
Johnny look out! your hair is lavender! oh, it's the lights, whew! that's good then. ya sound great after all these years and have a sense of humor! lovely!
Wow! sure glad Johnny is still with us, he must have cared for himself. Love it. I was in L.A. off and on at the time he was at the "GO-GO" but never made the scene. Just another real good Italian singer man.
Johnny comes almost every year to a casino on the Texas/Oklahoma state line. I've seen him several times and can't get enough. If you ever have the chance to see him, DO IT! He truly does sound like he always did. This is the first time I've ever seen him with backup singers, though. I love it because the backups were such a big part of his overall sound.
I'm 59 and been a fan my whole life. I got hooked from my aunt (rip). I don't think I want anything more than to see him live singing my all time favorite song. (Along with Baby I need your Lovín) Perhaps after my 3 yr honor college student graduates. It's tuff being a single mom. LOL. Hold on Johnny I'm on the way! (God willin) I live in Virginia. Sorry to get carried away. He does that to me! ☺️
@@anytimejammin-eva: Aww, well you definitely need to see him then. Any fan as big as you really does need to see him perform live. I wasn’t exaggerating…he DOES still sound great…just like he always has! It’s an amazing thing. He also still looks great!
😢 He has nothing to do with not being in the HOF. Its just the very Stupid people that make that decision to keep him out. Therefore he IS in the HOF.
Agreed 100%
Agreed 💯!
THE most agregious exception!
This guy is one of the rare talents who can sing live the same as studio recording.
Same thing with Lou Gramm of Foreigner..he sang just as great live in concert as on his studio albums.😊❤🎉
Please get him in the Hall of Fame!
77 yrs. old and sounds better than ever. A true icon.
...like Paul McCartney, still singing.
... Johnny looks good.
He just turned 80, on November 7, 2022! 🦂
Aww yes he is fantastic.
This song was so perfect for me when I was 17 on the poor side of town and trying to find a girl. It said it all for me. Great song. He should definitely be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
His voice is still as silky as it was in the 1960s. A great musician and a damn charming man. ❤️
After all these year's he still sounds great he's Italian from Louisiana !!
The first time I saw a picture of him I was shocked to see he was not black.
Johnny should be in the Hall of Fame. His an awesome voice has great songs , it's a shame
When I look at all the great talented artists NOT in the hall of fame realized it is just a joke. Very little to do with actual rock and roll artists more of an ego trip for the founder. Why I've never visited it.
Johnny Rivers should already be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The fact that he isn't is lame.
They have to induct all the hip hop and rap "artists" first, no space for a real artist.
Same reason as Neil Sedaka and Connie Francis aren't. She was one of the top-selling females of 50's.
I know how they are they will wait till Johnny is gone
So many have never received Grammys either. For that simple reason I never watch the Grammy Awards.
TheAnitam3 OMG. FOR sure Johnny, AND Connie surely should be!! What , the last one had '80s and even '90's groups nominated?? How ridiculous!! Who the hell decides the nominations? Idiots. Where can we vote!!!?
What a legend, deserves to be in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame!
This cat was born in 1942........not too many 75 years olds around sounding like this. Awesome.
51 years later! And he's still superb. Unbelievable.
Love you, Johnny, since 1964, when I was a senior at Glendora High, Glendora, California. I miss you so much. God Bless and keep you. You are my favorite forever. Praise God we are still alive.
TO ALL OF US WHO LOVE JOHNNY HE IS IN THE HALL OF FAME #1

He can take others songs and make them great, but there's no one who can top his voice! He can make you melt.
