    If you can get your hands on some limes, zest about 6 limes and dehydrate 2 cups of sliced jalapeños. Once everything is dry, blend them together with a teaspoon of salt. This my go-to for jalapeño lime seasoning

    Indeed your garden has served you well! It’s remarkable what you’ve grown and then accomplished with your harvest. You rocked the 2024 garden!
    Oops, I commented before the end and I wanted to thank you for sharing about drying the loofa. I grew it for the first time this year and it took so long to grow any fruit. I hadn’t been in the garden for a few weeks as I was in and out of town with my mom so my hubby was bringing in anything ready to harvest. When I went out to plant my garlic I was shocked to see 5 or 6 decent sized fruits. I harvested them and now will attempt to dry in the oven. You really are a hard worker and I appreciate what you share in your videos.

    Thanks Bre! Any chance you can make a short when you have another green loofah that is less dense and that you can tell is easy to peel? I was hoping you’d spend time there letting us hear what it sounds like when you squeeze it and more details on just how lightweight it feels. I have a ton of loofahs like you do but I’m having a really difficult time determining if any might be easy to peel. I’m just going to grab a few that I think might be there and try it but someone said that when it’s time to peel one of the green loofah, when you squeeze it it almost sounds like Velcro Inside. Just want to say I’m blown away at how long these things take to dry out!!! This is probably a one and done crop for me! Thanks again!

    • @itsbreellis
      @itsbreellis  10 дней назад

      If it feels airy when you grab it its probably easy. If it feels heavy it will be more dense!

    I've found laying my peeled hibiscus pieces out in a single later on a paper towel or cloth towel indoors (kitchen countertop, etc) and it air dries perfectly in just a few days to a week depending on indoor humidity levels. After another week in an open mason jar, I can feel that it's dry to the point that it won't mold. Then I close up the jars for using for tea as needed. Sometimes I burp and fan the jars every other day or so to make sure it's totally dry but probably not necessary after the first couple weeks.

    We went down to the 30Fs last week, so early! Everything is mostly fine, a little damage on some annuals. I'm usually not looking forward to the garden dying for the year, but with how the drought has been, I'm tired of watering and looking forward to a rest!
    I've been bringing my peppers in and out for two weeks now b/c they're trying to make a few late season peppers, but it's def too cold for them to stay out overnight.

    For the green tomatoes, why did you feel it necessary to still peel them? I don’t peel my tomatoes when doing any recipes, honestly, but I can see doing it for pizza sauce which I've never made. Just curious, that seemed like a ton of labor when you could just cook them as is.

    • @itsbreellis

    Hi Bre!! I have also delved into making hot sauce with my pepper harvest this year. Have you ever tried yucateco hot sauce from the grocery store? If you haven’t, do yourself a favor and try it!!! I can send you a copycat recipe if you’re interested, it used habaneros. My habanero plant was the most productive so I’ve been playing with those peppers the most. I’ve made the yucateco, habanero and garlic, Thai chili and garlic, and a mix of all the peppers I grew. I also got lemon jalapeños from the farmers market and used those to make a peach hot sauce 😋
