I have a 03 black two door. It has 166 thousand miles on it and runs very well. It even has the original clutch. Only real issue I can think of is the tires don't last very long, but maybe its because I live on a long curvy back road.
Quick little cars and that was a nice pull, I got 6.8 on my stopwatch. A little higher on the rpms and it will put a smile on your face. My 04 SVT EAP has 181,000 miles and still puts a smile on mine every time I take it out, especially on tight curvy canyon roads.
@@gregaria3664 2.0 SOHC in the regular focus, 2.3 sohc in some of the 03-04 focus, and a 2.0 DOHC in the svt. Got a commuter 2004 ZTS 2.3 5 speed. Plenty of power for the little 30mpg beast. Pulls hills at 55mph in 5th with no downshift.
Make sure you get your timing belt replaced if you haven't done so. When I had mine the TB broke and bent all the valves. Ended up just selling it but I loved that car.
Hey this is late but Mine is approaching the 110K mark which calls for timing belt change. I know the dealer charges like 700 to do it, I wondered how hard it was on the SVT because all I've heard is how hard they are to change on other cars. Any thoughts?
don't wait, they will break. Take off the inspection cover and inspect the belt. Some of them broke as early as 60 thousand miles. Look for cracking a fraying. Only replace with oem ford parts!! I also replaced the water pump at the same time. CFM performance has everything you would need.

I had an ES2 D17A2 civic and it was awesome. Honda knows how to make a rev happy engine, despite it only being SOHC it still reved faster then the focus in the video. I would say it was faster then the focus. The EP3 from that year also was a really fun car to drive.
too many haters commenting. this is not slow at all for a stock car... bro put it this way, 6.5 second 0-60 was done by the last rwd impala ss that had like 360hp. this car has a lot of potential, I'd put new heads, full exhaust, bigger throttle body, stage 3 cams, stage 2 clutch, and maybe a 50hp dry shot of nos. you'd be killing races left and right and it'd be all motor so you won't need to tune it every time you wanna race like you would with a turbo
WTF are you evwn talking about? you obviously know nothing about cars with that rant...svt focuss are slow as fuck and you lose the "all motor" thing with nitrous. also what turbod car needs a new tune evwry race?
+Brittney Theiss if you think an svt is slow, you haven't been in one. If you have been in one, it wasn't driven properly. It's not a vehicle designed to compete with a 5.0 In a straight line. It'll shit on most vehicles in the corners, and in all honesty, if you can sit here and tell me this car is slow you obviously don't know how to drive it. I know for a fact this vehicle can scare you with its cornering ability. Not only that, Push the pedal to the metal and it'll pull until you let off on purpose, not because you ran out of power.
+jake20479 a car being "fast" doesn't just mean how fast it goes when you floor it. This is what happens when you spend too much time on RUclips searching up 1000hp vehicles. Rev limiter bashing. Big warning lights to shift, nothing but turbo boost and bov noise. You get sucked into what a car is like after 50k+ is put into it and then you talk shit about a stock 2.0 with 150k miles on it because your proportions are off, you haven't a scale of comparison anymore. I know it's not the fastest, it's far from it. But don't say it slow. Tell me a tercel is slow and I'll agree. I'll agree to the moon and back.
+jake20479 yes a tercel is slow as fuck but a svt focus is srill slow, its not even in the quick category. its a shitty car with no power and the worst gear ratios ive seen in a long time. ford blew it with the svt focus and they knew it...if you guys love your svt focuss thats great but they will get beat by 99% of new minivans, tell me how thats not "slow"
+Brittney Theiss again... You're comparing the speed of vehicles when you floor them in a straight line, more than likely 0-60 times..right? Maybe eve 1/4mile times? You should compare track times... An svt can take a corner much better than most vehicles. It's such an underrated car it's irritating me you can't value it for what it is so you bash the fact it isn't fast as fuck in a straight line when you floor it. It's quick if you know to drive it. Is straight line speed all you got? Here's some information: Have you ever heard of the ford focus ST170? The US market had a naturally aspirated version which we know as the SVT. In Europe, you get the svt170.. Which means it comes With a turbo. And a quaffe limited slip differential. It's even faster than the North American svt in corners, which is fucking crazy. +Cristian Chavira you display power on a 0-60 because acceleration is displayed by your power to weight ratio. for example something weighing as much as a fb rx7 with 400hp is prob faster than a gt500 with 600hp

being a dick and being honest are 2 different things. I didn't bash them completely. they are decent handling cars but if you try and say they are anything but slow in a straight line then you are crazy. That's longer gears than a lot of 5 speed cars, just have to face facts that it's slow in a straight line...
thats the beauty of these cars. stock, they do kinda suck. but they will outrun your average late 90s early 2000s 4 banger. but they are designed to be tuned and boosted. they are a great base for a build. ford racing had a supercharger advertised that these engines were designed to run efficiently with.

Crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor
Most likely the inlet manifold runner control and or the variable valve timing needs to be reset after a cambelt change. Is the check engine light on?
