Sorry... but it's not our Tirunelveli Kootanchoru... we never add tomatoes, instead we use tamarind pulp. Also no onion, only shallots should be used. For the quantity u r making a handful of garlic should be added in the masala paste. Most importantly the rice shouldn't b overcooked.Also don't add coriander leaves. Actual order of adding ingredients is dhal- once its half cooked, add vegetables - once it changes colour slightly (one complete boil stage) add tamarind pulp and rice, when the rice is 80% done add the ground masala, salt, turmeric powder, moringa leaves and cook it until done. Finally for tempering mustard,asafoetida, curry leaves and few shallots. Try this way you'll love it. Tip - Always cook in minimum required water, and add hot water lil by lil whenever needed.
The measurements actually used and mentioned in the motion of video are different. Standard cup measurement and measuring cup you have used are entirely different. In such cases, please mention the quantity in gms/lts.

Except for baking any cup can be used as measure. Our traditional cups in India for Rice & Wheat were never 250 ml standard measuring cup. That's why it's better to do in cups rather than in gms for cooking video. Cooking is about ratio not measurements. Your cup her cup varies, ratio remains same. Gms are only needed for baking, even there you can wing it unless you're making some delicate stuff like Souffle.
In Telangana we also make this dish but with different name, and we cook little easier than you prepared, and the rice looks little overcooked. We don't overcook, the rice won't be broken like dal.
5 variants of greens like araikeerai mulaikeerai will be added also some cooriander seeds will be added while grinding the paste also the dal rice ratio is 1 cup rice half cup dal
