    I love how you’ve got your arm around it like it’s an old friend. Gear can be really special when it’s been through the years with you.

    picked up one of these RD20H's with matching 1x12 cab and OMG its simply amazing. These amps should be a standard recommendation for rock and metal along with your 5150 recommendations.

    Hell yes Brother. My RD45 is my favorite amp of all time. Great tube tones, at a price point I could afford.

    I have the RD40 combo, which I don't think they make anymore, and man that is my amp. I got it for $400, and it is perfect for me. The clean channel is amazing, and dark, which I love, I play a lot of non-metal, and the red channel is one of precious few which handles the 9 string well. You always recommend my favorite gear.
    That's a helluva new guitar you have, it's almost cheating.

    Hey Robert. I've got the RD45 and love it! A little on the darker side but sounds killer! Never had issues. Clean channel is amazing! Thanks for the vid!

    I've had this head for about 6 years now. Its the best one i've ever owned. It is best for stuff like Death Metal and all things of that ilk. I would never ever sell it, and if it broke i'd get a new one for sure.

    I have the 45W head and love it. It's not my favorite amp I own, but it does have a sound that is a bit unique, which is cool. However, the prices that these are going for now, new, are insane! Luckily I got mine a couple of years ago.

    Dang it, Robert! If you keep playing riffs like that, I'm gonna have to find out where you are and and force you to let me play bass and sing over it.
    Seriously, that is just begging to be turned into something. 😉

    i recently played in a Orange 50 watt head.. i thought the clean channel was excellent..but the overdrive-distortion channel was terrible.. probably good for metal only..

    Seems like a decent little amp head. .I'm wondering if 20 watts is enough to push that chug gain when you need it,?
    I run a solid state 60 watt. That JUST barely hits that power mark. But. Ivc never tried this amp

    • @RobertWJackson
      @RobertWJackson  Год назад +3

      Of course it is. 20 tube watts are generally A LOT louder than 60 solid-state watts.

    I like how on your last video you call the EHX Small Clone boring but in this video had a TC Electronics June 60 on your board. 😂 Just an observation, not trying to be a dick. Maybe I'm just triggered because I use a Small Clone and want a June 60.

    Knew a blues guitarist years ago who used a Randall. It's likely not this one. Hers was 60 pounds of I don't know what all. She was just this spare little whiff of a girl hauling this anvil between gigs and the college campus. Ironically, she played a Les Paul Light that had a balsawood core. Mid 90's gear is inconsistent stuff. This may be the golden age of guitar gear, but the mid 90's was the blender age. Nobody knew what they were getting out of the box.
    Amps are a weak point for me. I prefer solid-state just because they are so much lighter, and I suspect the way of the future. That said, I'm harshly criticized for this view. I finally got a friend of mine to ditch his little Line 6 practice amp for gigs (damn thing sounded like a calliope having sex with silly putty in a cardboard box), and now that's turned back on me and my Quilter (which sounds like an amp, no more, no less.) Still, hauling around a tube amp is not what I consider fun. Our gigs run through a PA anyway.
    Robert, you need to run a top-tier list of the amps you currently own.

    Would this be too loud for bedroom levels ?

    • @RobertWJackson
      @RobertWJackson  6 месяцев назад +3

      That’s primarily where I’ve used it. Though I suppose one person’s bedroom volume might be quite a bit different from someone else’s. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Randall is not stocked by most stores because of their mostly miss customer and repair services. It is extremely complicated because they don't have any service center in North America outside of the US and ends up costing money to the store and piss off customers, and taking an endless amount of time. Steve's Music and Long Mcquade in Canada stopped dealing with Randall for these reasons. Only Acclaim Music sells them if you special order them but I would strongly advise not doing so if you are in Canada. It is sad because I do like Randall amps but their corporate mismanagement is infuriating, Fortin left, there are reasons.
