Did not disappoint! I appreciated the stills and game play segments you interspersed to illustrate his comments. Really interesting what he did to minimize the memory used on speech synthesis by replacing the "expensive" parts with white noise. Impressive how many of his innovations he considered "obvious" at the time!
Overrunning hblank interrupts can also be found in the AgVision / Videotex precursors to the colour computer. They used the hblank interrupt to bitbang the modem.
Again, thanks for the interview. We got a copy of the Skiing cart in 2022 and first played it for SepTandy. I was quickly impressed by the speech, mechanics, and the feeling of really going down a hill and flying over humps. I ended up playing it for a few hours. I wished we had it way back.
@@RobertKilgus I can feel exactly what the 10 year old me would have thought of this game if we would have got it way back. I hope it has some meaning that, even today, you are still making people happy and have fun. Thank you for the new memories!
Writing programs on Z80 and 6809 were just a different way of thinking, the Z80 was register based and the 6809 was memory based, the 68K was really nice compared to the 80x86 cpu's but the computers using those had nice graphics.

I'm not sure most of this stuff would be obvious even today!
He was certainly ahead of his time. Very insightful.
It was surprising to learn of how many innovative things he did back then.
Great subjects discussed!
Again, Thank you!!!
Awesome. Great questions from Curtis.
Curtis is a really great interviewer, that's why I was behind the camera!

Great interview, once again thanks to all three of you for making it.
I am glad people are enjoying it.
Fascinating insights. What an amazing memory for a man his age, or any age. "Learn how the world works, and simulate it." In a nutshell.
A very interesting person, I am glad I got the chance to meet him.
I'm pretty sure Skiing was the first video game I've ever owned. I DO remember playing it for HOURS trying to break my records. Those were the days!
Again, thanks for the interview.

Thank you, I wish I could have received feedback back when I wrote it, rather than waiting over forty years to see if it was liked.

Another great interview.
Thanks for watching, I enjoyed doing this.
"A lot of what people say is just nothing but random noise." Haha! That should be on a t-shirt!
Thanks. I was wondering if anyone would catch my little joke. Bob Kilgus
