blast from the past love it
Jack, You post cool stuff!
Great video!
Striking machines, no matter what shape they are in, but a huge contrast, between the beleagured Penn Central units that looked like they couldn't run much further, and those mirror-shiny, fast running Conrail units, likely in tip-top condition.
Very cool video once again and we enjoyed watching. Have a wonderul rest of your weekend.(Steve)
Thank you SSRP. You enjoy yours as well.
Your very welcome and thank you also.@@1jackdk
Still have plenty of Bulldog running around here in Australia.

Been watching your videos for a while, subscribed couple of months ago & thoroughly enjoy your video that grainy colours of the 60's and 70's something magic about it.

Love the E units, great style and a classy look, thanks Jack, another great post!
Thank you David.
My Son and I got to ride behind the two PRR units for Altoona's railfest back in the late 1990s the train was made up of Maryland and New Jersey Transit coach cars from Altoona PA. up the mountain to the balloon track ( to turn trains around) in Cresson around Horseshoe curve. and back down the mountain back into Altoona. - it was still 3 track mainline in those days. that was a trip I won't forget.
thanks . like .
Nice video Jack! Love the E units! They look good in penn central, Conrail, PRR & Amtrak Phase 1 Paint!
F units?
@eafd2708 sorry, I'm stupid. Idk why I put f units instead of E units. They looked like f units but the title says otherwise 🤦
It’s sad, such beautiful locomotives that could have had complete Overhauls and could still have been used.
Who cares if locomotives are over 70 years old. If they work, they work.
E Units = Extra foam
LOL
Jack any E units pass Hogpen on video?
The only ones that did that I know of, was the Conrail set taken on CSX at Jacobs Creek PA. That clip was taken about 15 RR miles east of the Hog Pen. I jumped in the car, and tried to beat him to the house. I got there just as he was passing.
What happened to the conrail E units
Here is the lowdown on Conrail's 3 E-units. The 4020 and 4021 were sold to Bennett Levin and painted and renumbered back to their original PRR heritage, complete with the overhead phone lines. #5809 and 5711. You see them passing at 8:55 in the clip. The 4022 is painted and numbered as original Erie 833. Its in pretty bad shape, with rust and fading paint. It is for sale right now at SRM in Bridgeport NJ. Hope this helps you out, and thanks for watching.
@1jackdk yes it does thank you very much
no matter how dirty and pitted they are so much more cool then the junk generic flat bland locomotive Amtrak operates today . You did a disservice by not showing the green Southern Crescent . These were clean
Thats for sure. Agree 100%. The NJT had two in Southern green, but never caught them running.
