Welp living in a third world country like NEPAL , you dont often hear the words like thank you and you are welcome. Which imo is the most common english word.
You saying thank you is the weirdest thing in of itself where i live in. But even then i learned heaps through your YT channel and i am very thankful to you and everyone who played a minor part in this.

    Hey Baumi,
it's actually quite funny because for me that person is you!
I'm german too and i've been at a very bad place in my life. And it might seem a bit dramatic but often i was even close to suicide; i had nothing else that mattered in my life...but your content. Your videos (and other content when you started streaming) were the only consistency i had and in a way that kept me going. You actually taught me english and sparked the motivation eventually to learn more of it...and it turned my life around. Because of my english i met my british girlfriend in a dota game. We've been living together in Germany for 2 years now, have plans to get married in the near future and all my illnesses like ptsd and depression are not a big part of my life anymore. Soon we're going to convert a van and travel trough europe and asia for some years..
I'm so thankfull Baumi. Not only for teaching me english but all those other lessons and morals you taught me over the years. I'm 20 now and i've been watching your content for OVER 5 years! And for that time you sort of played the big brother role in my life.
This is the first time commenting...and in a way i feel guilty for not supporting you more like subscribing on twitch..but i just dont have the funds.
So again, i truely thank you for everything you have done for me and i hope you'll see this even though i doubt it. It just felt important to get that of my chest nonetheless.
    - Thank you,
    Jaron

It's funny, because you've done the same to my life man...
Not for english or anything. But for the way i think. The way i act.
I've watched you for like 2 or 3 years when i started college, and that was one of the lowest points in my life because of your videos.
Back before i started college, i've been bullied for almost my whole school life, and when i'm done with highschool, i feel like shit and i blame everything for it.
But then comes your videos. Your positivity. Your way of thinking. It... Awakes me. Teaches me. And helped me. Because your videos just make me feels like i have an actual friend at the lowest point of my life, that actually talks to me.
I know you don't know me, neither do i know if you will ever read this comment, but please when you do, know that you've changed someone's life too

Requiescat in Pace, John Peter Bain - the man leaves a lot behind. His legacy, his family, his friends, his future (which was bound to be just as influential as it has been, up to this point, if not more so), his mission. He was so full of life, so full of passion, it's hard to believe he's gone.
I hope this video made it to him. I hope he knew, before the end, what a difference he made in so many peoples' lives. The man often undersold himself, but through his honesty and integrity, he raised up so many to the same belief in basic truth and objectivity, he will not be forgotten any time soon. His legacy will live on for years to come.
Also, half-joke, don't forget your German by speaking so much English. I love my English, but German is such a lovely, wonderful and precise language, that would be a shame (saying this only because I know a couple individuals who spoke so much English they really did forget their German, and that's just a damn shame.)

Now he is video game critique and one of more ifluencial people when it comes to video game critique and for example Starcraft2 in general. He set golden standard in his videos how to make a good rewiev of first look of a game. Also he has biggest podcast on twich called Co-Optional podcast. He is an inspiracion to us all how to be a better person in general. Hell i even started to lear this language more extensivly. I loved his terraria series and his co-op lounges. I didn't knew what was this about, and was about to write a snarky, dismissive remark about him, but this is one thing i have to give to him. Watching TGS podcast was a fun pasttime of mine at the time, where i didn't even knew the english. Like at ALL. I liked his voice and i wanted to see the footage of the new games, so when i've found him, i tuned in every saturday evening, while doing my chores. In about half a year i've suddenly realised that i kind of get what they are saying, and it only went better from here. John is very articulate speaker with the great vocabulary, and he's also a fantastic podcast host, that doesn't allow the tiniest bit of bullshit. I'm not going to say that there is no place for the chaotic streams, but those qualities make him a great person to follow if you want to learn the Proper english. I have a level 7 tefl certificate, and it would be wrong to think that i'd be there without him and his podcasts.

Its kinda hard to describe apathy which i usualy feel when i visit Germany. Imagine a country that just runs like a clock and with little consideracion to its parts. Hell even among our own kin its like that when they start working at germany.

    • @aminschmidt1429
      @aminschmidt1429 6 лет назад +5

mexo imeri its not that extreme here :) but everything here is being done really considerate of the outcome and controlled and that applies to emotions as well. and since little emotions produce little outcome (good or bad) that is often considered as the "safest" and least troublesome way.

On the topic of thank yous... Baumi I watched your videos way back when you were getting much smaller numbers. I'll make it short. My point is that I have been here for a while. So long that I don't have my old account anymore. You helped distract me from a lot of things I went through over the years. I'm socially akward. I don't have many friends (All my ones now moved away or my other is always busy) and never got online ones as even talking to others over chat makes me nervous and I quit games when I start to get too social in them as I start to fear logging in. But I watch you and your pals play and it makes me happy. So thanks for letting me watch you guys. It makes me smile a lot. One day I'll have to donate to you once I have the cash to spare so you can get yourself one really great steak. Keep being awesome man.

Damn. Watching TB's videos is also how I learned most of my english. I learned more from him than from my English classes in school. He wasn't the only one I learned from but he definitely was the first english youtuber I watched regularly, and from there I watched almost all of his videos up to this day.
And now I'm a software developer and that skill comes in handy every day, because while it's quite rare to find documentation in French (or any other language), you are guaranteed to find an English version. Oh, and StackOverflow is English only too.
So yeah, thank you TB. Your smooth british voice always kept me engaged, even when I didn't quite understand the meaning of your words. Take care of yourself.

Dont forget to mail link to this video to TB's pr team mail address, since that is what they said to do according to the TB team official reddit post.
TB is a legend. Not just in video game analysis or commentary or shoutcasting etc. He is a legend for surviving this long, but as life would have it, cancer won in the end. He did everything he could, and it just wasnt good enough. And even with all this settling down, he still declares that he will still do the usual Cooptional Podcasts, as many times as time let him have.

Man this hit me hard. I think total biscuit touched so many people in this way. Thank you for giving them a voice. And thanks above all to total biscuit. He is perhaps the greatest youtube personality in relation to gaming. And its a shame that he is not so recognised in mainstream media. But we, his fans, know!

well, what a coincidence 4 years ago I used to hate Engish because I have been learning it for so long yet I couldn't start a single conversation. till I have discovered ur mighty channel. everything has changed after this point. hundreds of rumbling videos made my speaking and listening skills increasing dramatically. I have also liked dota because of you the game that connected me with many good friends.
side note: I also say moron a lot more than any average English speaker so ty for that to :))

At this point, THANK YOU BAUMI, you did the same for me. I also had problems with english, but now i get complimented by my english teacher for speaking so fluently.
