    This started off as a pilot program for the department as an effort to collect more illegal dumps and stops not collected by the day shift. After a couple months the program was deemed successful and is still operating looking to expand. The team could be in any council district in the city on any given day.
    I was lucky enough to catch one of their best laborers in action collecting unregistered stops (called proactives) in the area. It's definitely cool seeing how much these small new way diamondbacks can pack.

    Now this is my idea of a fun night out. Screaming little Diamondback just munching couches. LA is looking nastier by the day, it would be nice to see the city expand this type of collection. Litter begets more litter, cleaner streets might give the more civilized Angelino pause before tossing that butt/wrapper/couch/stolen bike/burnt out RV.

    You know politicians reallly fucked up when we have to get to this to keep the streets clean. I will just say this: Vote for the mayoral candidate who has an agressive plan to clean up L.A and hire more sanitation workers.
    Back to the video, holy hell can these little things pack a load. That fast packer just crunches and munches huge bulky items so relentlessly to the point where it may beat a full sized New Way. Loved the unique acoustics as the crunching and snapping echoed rather loudly into the quiet night. Nice fast paced crew too!

    Philadelphia has a shit ton of these things that they use in alley’s downtown, and they start around 5 and don’t have to dump until 11 or 12. It’s impressive how much these tiny things can pack.

      That’s more of a testament to how slow the crews are than to how much the truck can pack. I’ve seen 25 yard leaches pack out in 2 hours.

      @@ct_refuse they move a decent pace but I’m talking about the recycle there. The ones that do trash pack out every hour and a half to two hours. But the recycle crew I talked to said that they don’t dump that much and they move a good pace.

      @@PennsylvaniaRefuseTrucks maybe like 3 hours

    • @PennsylvaniaRefuseTrucks
      @PennsylvaniaRefuseTrucks 2 года назад +1

      @@ct_refuse it depends on what part of Philly it is, in center city it doesn’t take them long at all to pack out because there are little houses and apartments on top on each other was as other parts are just townhomes which don’t have as much.

    San Francisco has this kind of thing going every day, but as far as I know illegal dump pickups on street sides aren't ever overnight, only carted collection as everyone knows. Plus they almost always use full size trucks, despite the narrow streets... which is an interesting decision by Recology. Great work on this though, fun to watch these lil trucks in action!

    It doesn’t make sense to me that they sent a little garbage truck to pick up all why didn’t they send a large truck

    • @wnytrashtrucks
      @wnytrashtrucks 2 года назад +5

      these are quiet compared to a large truck. Also with using small trucks you don't need a CDL. Meaning there is more people who can drive them. Witch allows more area to be covered even though it may not hold has much
