- The biggest and gnarliest day at the Wedge during May 2024 swell filmed from both land/water for the double perspective! Surfers, bodyboarders and kneeboarders all charging the challenging conditions on the morning of 5-21-2024. Chargers include Kai Thompson, Tim Burnham, Sage Burke, John Beanz Porzuczek, Maccadeth, Dawson Sherman, Big Jack Harris, Shea Porter, Seabass Perez, Max Beach and more! I body surfed the wedge from 1968 to 73. No surfers as short boards were in their infancy and Boggie was not yet invented but there were a few kneeboarders. We called the huge shore break just north of the main break BRUTAL! Back then there were telephone poles with wires atop going along the length of the jetty and on big days in Aug. and Sept. I remember being on the waves peak looking over and being above the wire. I'm an old man now but cherish those memories. Randy, if you're out there I miss you brother, we had a good time!
As an old guy, I always look for bodysurfers in these videos, but after seeing what the boogie boarders are doing, I can understand everyone going to foam boards. one thing about bodysurfing, you don't get a lot of air time after the drop.
Our memories, I always thought the kneelo was because guys just couldn't hack it . Hahaha

After 50 years growing up in HB and surfing everything from the Ranch to Tijuana sloughs it sure would be nice to see Newport Point once in a while. Epic shots! Love that you got in the water. I bought a water housing and stuck my mirrorless camera in there only to realize that it's a lot of work to move around out there when you don't have a big buoyant surfboard and you're a big, fat, old walrusy guy like me.

For the best shot at the stupidity mesmerizing but small barrels, it's gotta be a huge swell (the bigger the better) it's gotta be a low tide that's coming up if that makes sense. Best at dead wind, obviously. Is there anything I missed out on?

Nicely done with the water angles, but where were Craig and Tanner? I've come to expect some proper bodyboarding launches in my BeefsTV wedge clips. Also: Aaron you tried, and your efforts were appreciated... but you just can't match the commentary skills of the OG.
